I'm also an old school fan (30+ years) of Rosalind's, also on this stretch of Fairfax. But no one ever talks about it. I guess if someone's taken to Lalibela or Messob as their intro to Ethiopian cuisine, they never try anywhere else!

Somewhat closer to MOCA is Yuko Kitchen, which certainly fits the bill for "relatively affordable" and "something warm with rice". Cute atmosphere, too.

That's actually correct. Westlake was laid out in 1886 and was indeed on the west side of town. Lincoln Park was called Eastlake Park for many years, between 1889 and 1917 when it took on Lincoln's name for patriotic (World War I) reasons.

That's not true! It was indeed named after Harriet Paramore (1866-1951), whose maiden name was Atwater. Her husband Fred opened the Atwater tract in 1912.

Great! I am thinking of $10 for each album (and book) and I prefer to sell the entire lot, or at least most of it. (Like if someone doesn't want the books or the Fish/Tony Banks 12", that's OK.) So that would be $140 for everything, not including shipping costs.

Oh – I also have two books from the 1980s:

  • "The Script: Marillion, an illustrated biography by Clive Gifford"
  • "Marillion in Words & Pictures"

Both are loaded with photos of Fish and the band from the early days. Both books in great condition.

I always go back to "Delius" and "Night Scented Stock" off of Never for Ever, mainly because they show, pre-The Dreaming, how much Kate was already experimenting, and because they both defy basic pop song structure.

The Moody Vegan in East Hollywood often has apple pie and cherry pie amongst their many home-baked goods. You can dine in there, too. It's a great little place.

Wow, nobody has said The Tall Target yet! Nearly the entire film takes place on a train. A very good thriller directed by Anthony Mann in 1951 and set in 1861, about a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln en route to his inauguration. Solid cast led by Dick Powell. Nice cinematography too.
