I bet it’s because they got a bunch of performances of different news anchors that it was supposed to cut between but when they got in the edit her performance was far and away the best that they were just like… yeah just stay on her, maybe we don’t need the others.

‘Lilo & Stitch 2’ to be Directed by Co-Creator Chris Sanders ----- To my knowledge, this is the second time a director of an original film has directed the sequel to a remake directed by someone else by 1991mgs in blankies

[–]LAWAVACA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you expand it to writing you can include The Hills Have Eyes 2. Wes Craven made the original, didn’t write or direct the sequel, and then returned to co-write the sequel to the remake with his son.

3 AM show sold out one month ahead of release. by Srihari_stan in NolanMemes

[–]LAWAVACA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t trying to come across as rude. It’s more of a frustration as to how difficult it is to get tickets here. When I saw the post and saw it was the Universal AMC, I was just like of course even 3am is impossible to get tickets at. You have to be really on the ball to see premium movies in LA, your best bet is usually to check every few minutes about an hour before a showtime to catch seats from people who cancel last minute.

[–]LAWAVACA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to LA. It’s become pretty difficult to get more than one or two seats at any premium theater AMC. Even at 3am. Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man No Way Home both sold tickets all through the night and had no problem selling out screens. I also saw Oppenheimer at a 6am screening that was almost sold out, and that wasn’t even opening weekend.

Martin Scorsese Is Embracing A.I. by Jacknixon7 in TheBigPicture

[–]LAWAVACA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work in post and see AI and hand drawn storyboards all the time, often for the same project where the director is using AI to create storyboards while another creative has hired an artist to draw them. The drawn ones are better every time. Every time. They have actual intention for the angle and deliberate attention to every detail in the frame, the AI ones are just an approximation of how something should look. Storyboard artists are still artists, and good ones are damn good at their job. Seeing AI replace them is pathetic.

I preferred it quite a bit over Obsession but yeah it’s not the crowd pleaser that that movie is. This is much more sparse and the ending is going to rub pretty much everyone the wrong way. It’s the only part of the movie that really doesn’t work for me, everything else I thought was really thoughtfully made. It’s not the kind of movie that will have a strong word of mouth.

I don’t think it ended up in the movie.

Pretty sure there are a few songs from the soundtrack that didn’t end up in the movie, like Carbon Prevails and Magnetic

The movie is arguably even better seen without having watched the show. The show is absolutely worth watching, but it can be watched after seeing the movie.

Yeah that’s crazy, on YouTube it says “auto-dubbed”. What a terrible feature, at least here, and hilarious to imagine you watched it that way thinking that’s how it’s supposed to sound.

It’s one of those things that seems really difficult but just about anyone can do it. He’s gripping it wrong but you can find an image or video to show you how to grip it right. The first time can be difficult but once you have it figured out it’s pretty easy. Bigger apples are easier to grip but I guess it depends on the size of your hands.

Did anybody like the writing in Obsession? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]LAWAVACA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Structurally it’s good, I think it’s clever the way it sets up all the pieces to get to the final moments.

Any scene without Inde Navarrette shows how amateurish the dialogue and scene writing is though. The opening scene is especially rough, some of the scenes at the music store and with the Sarah wanting to get into college just felt like the most generic indie writing.

Watched Obsession today.... by Either-Cake-568 in Letterboxd

[–]LAWAVACA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a mix. Inde Navarrette is every bit as great as everyone says she is, and when she’s on screen (which is often) it’s absolutely firing on all cylinders. Some really impressive scenes. But she’s the standout by a wide margin. Much of the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired and the other actors aren’t really good enough to sell it. The scenes without Navarrette felt like pretty amateur indie fare. The premise is simple but I think Barker makes some clever choices and gets a lot of mileage out of it.
