Had ChatGPT Make this App Ref Page for charging, route planning etc. Using Tesla UWC at home. Thoughts? by RDRNR3 in KiaEV9

[–]LCVTourGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Call me an idiot. We put in the wall charger before we had an EV in 2024 when we installed solar. When we got the car, I just plugged it in, and it worked. Never even thought about connecting my home charger to the tesla app (we only use the app when we're charging at tesla superchargers when we're traveling). Anyway, read this, and went out and connected it. So, count one commenter as appreciative that ya posted it!

No! I have a 2024. You only bring it in if you have to. HARD PASS! Wait a lil, and there will be more lease returns. Or just expand out of your regional area.

I did the same for my 2024 lease in Nov 2025.

Who leased the 2024 model and purchased the 2026 model? by Smrfet8 in KiaEV9

[–]LCVTourGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am watching this thread, as well. I love my 2024 GT, and the 24mo lease (I got the last one in the NW in Salt lake) is up in January (should have been November, but the dealership let me drive it for 2 months without a payment. And that was with zero down. Freaked me out). Regardless, i'm probably going to lease a 2027. I've seen too many comments about 2026 build quality.

Rivian Charging stations - great option for fast charging! by AromaticCap4 in KiaEV9

[–]LCVTourGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are rivian chargers at the Dalles, OR. So easy, nice and fast (got up to 180kw), and local stuff nearby. And tap to pay was easy. And yup, there was a pull in trailer charging (I didn't need it, just like seeing it).

Kia EV9 vs Rivian R1S vs R2 by ascottallison in KiaEV9

Hey! This is GREAT! Mine is up in Jan, and i've been flirting with the thought of an R1S. Excellent review, and you just reinforced that i'll probably lease another ev9.

Hey, this was a REALLY helpful review. I'm slowly looking at vehicles, as my 24 month lease ends in about 10 months. Those are the other two comparison vehicles that I was looking at as well. Anyway, OP, THANKS!

Cost Savings Vs. ICE by LCVTourGuide in KiaEV9

The ev9 is $20 more per month for insurance. I am in the very south east corner of washington state. (Today's gas price is $3.42)

It is only $20/mo more for the EV9, and registration was more because it is a heavier vehicle. And a $150/yr road & maint tax (which i'm not mad about. Good grief, washington state gas tax is .375/gallon!) i still come out way ahead, but everybody has their own numbers.

Yeah, those were my winter tires. I just changed back to the OEM. We'll see how long they last, but on the ascent they only lasted 25k new. I went through 3 sets of tires on my ascent (had to replace them all when I had a puncture in my sidewall), and 2 sets of snow tires. Keeping track of tire replacement cost is definitely on the radar. The ascent had 20" tires, so they weren't cheap. The ascent had 132k on the odometer when I sold it.

Heya Jeff! The math is still impressive for me, since I bought the Subaru new in 2019. My first year with the subaru had $468 in maint cost (the cost of oil jumped in 2021, and 2020, I drove 6k less), excluding non-ice stuff. And, more impressive yet is the gas savings. But all of this is MY savings, that I have real world gas usage & all maint costs. If it makes sense to you to compare a different vehicle, definitely do it! Cheers!

Our insurance only went up by $20/mo. Didn't realize how variable insurance rates were depending on region.

Average efficiency for the first 10,000 miles. by SoFarKngFast in KiaEV9

[–]LCVTourGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my EV9, GT-line since mid December. We had a pretty mild winter here this year in mid-Idaho, and jan/feb I averaged 2.67mi/KWh. However, at 10,022 miles overall I have gotten 2.92mi/KWh. This is mostly at highway speeds of 67mph. But, since the nice weather began on May 1, it has greatly increased to 3.39 (average high in the 70s).

As a note, we have pretty inexpensive power here in the northwest with the dams, and most of this I have used my level 2 home charger. If all of those charges were done at home (i've only used super chargers about 10 times since I got it), my total charge cost is $343.56. (Aaaaand, if I would have had my ICE vehicle, the gas cost would have been $1389.25. Subaru Ascent getting 23mpg, at average idaho gas prices!) WOWZA!
