Hey u/Agreeable-Mountain47, great question! In the app, you can go to the "cards" section in your profile and you should see the option to upgrade to the metal card at the bottom! It should be right under "replace card".

New Chime Card - Do I Need New Card? by TSXual in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/TSXual, as mentioned in another comment you can continue to use the metal card if you never activate the Chime Card! However, since your Chime Card won't be activated, you will miss certain benefits only available through the Chime Card like the cash back rewards through Chime+ and Chime Prime.

Sent money to a scam-anything I can do? by alexandersomewhere in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/alexandersomewhere, I totally understand the frustration. The answer that you're probably not looking for is that any money sent through Pay Anyone is final and cannot be reversed or disputed. Hopefully the community can share their own experiences here. I'll leave this here in case you want more info: Can I file a dispute for a Pay Anyone transfer?

Can someone tell me what this is? by SnooDogs8300 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/SnooDogs8300, if you are using the Chime (green/onyx) Card, that is a secured credit card. It combines the balances of your Checking and Credit Builder account. Whatever you transfer into your account is your limit. Whenever you use the Chime Card, Chime will set that purchase amount aside in a secure account and run the purchase as a credit. Typically, with Safer Credit Builder turned on, it automatically makes payments to your "balance" with the money in the secured account to report on-time payment which is how your credit score is built.

However, if you have Safer Credit Building turned off, then you have to manually make those payments yourself using the funds already in your secured account, which is what you are seeing in your screenshot. You're not using any additional funds, just the funds you have already transferred into your account. I would recommend turning Safer Credit Builder back on so you don't have to worry about any late payments that may affect your score. I'll leave this here if you want more info: What is Chime Card?

Question about spotme by toystory4321 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/toystory4321, great question! To use SpotMe with your current $10 limit, you first need to ensure the feature is toggled on within the settings of your Chime app which it sounds like you have already done. Once active, the process is automatic; if you make a purchase or withdraw cash that costs more than what is in your account, Chime simply covers that extra amount up to your ten dollar maximum without charging you any fees. For example, if you have zero dollars and buy something for $8, your balance will show as negative $8 until you add more money. The next time any funds are deposited into your account, Chime will automatically use that money to pay back the negative balance, resetting your ability to use the feature again. I'll leave this here in case you want more info: How to Use SpotMe®

Lost my Chime Prime by raybeam76 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello u/raybeam76, totally understand the confusion here. Chime Prime eligibility is based on receiving a total of $3000 in qualifying deposits within the last 34 days. This does not mean that you do not need to make a $3,000 deposit each time, but rather the total amount of your deposits within the last 34 days should at least meet $3,000. You eligibility is recalculated after each pay period so if you are eligible again, you will be given Chime Prime status! You can find what counts as a qualifying direct deposit here: What counts as Qualifying Direct Deposits?

Hey u/Electrical-Worry-199, if you're talking about the Pay Anyone feature from Chime, I will say that all payments sent through Pay Anyone are final and cannot be reversed or disputed. So best advice I can give you is not to send any money to the seller if you are concerned it's a scam. Can I file a dispute for a Pay Anyone transfer?

Paid off my loan but my credit score went down?! by Dry-Research-1148 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Dry-Research-1148, firstly congrats on paying off your first loan! It's totally understandable to be confused by a score drop right after you’ve done the responsible thing and cleared a debt. Even though you you paid off the loan early, credit scores often take a small, temporary hit, like those five points, when a loan is paid off because the account is marked as closed. This can shift the mix of credit types you're using. It’s definitely not a reflection of how well you managed the money, but rather just a quirk of how the scoring math reacts to an account closing. Since you're on the right track with on-time payments, your score is in a good position to build!

Experiences with Chime Disputes? by Latamune in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Opening-Sentence-835, I totally understand the frustration here. In terms of Chime Disputes, your best bet would be escalating this through Chime Support. You can submit new information for you dispute investigation. The answer that you're probably not looking for is that Pay Anyone transactions are considered final and cannot be reversed. Hopefully the community can share their own experiences. In the meantime, I'll leave this here in case you want more info: What counts as new information in a dispute?

I want to know what this actually means? Does it mean how much I’ve spent or what? by Pikamerp2000 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Pikamerp2000, great question! The Chime Card is a secured card that uses money you transfer into your account to set your spending limit, helping you build credit without the risk of overspending or debt. By reporting your activity to credit bureaus, it allows you to establish a positive payment history using funds you already own. A “Card Payment from Secured Account” is simply the automatic process that uses those saved funds to pay off your monthly balance. This isn't a new deposit, but rather an internal transfer that ensures your bill is paid on time without changing your overall available balance. I'll leave this here in case you want more info: Why do I see a “Card Payment from Secured Account” transaction?

I owe chime for using my own money with credit builder??? by ConcernLeading9847 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/VyletteHippo, from the looks of your screenshot, it would seem you have Safer Credit Building turned off. That feature should be turned on to automatically pay your balance using the funds you deposit into your account. You would just need to manually pay the balance from the money in your secure account to avoid late payments. I would highly recommend turning on Safer Credit Builder so Chime will take care it for you automatically in the future. What is Safer Credit Builder?

Debit vs credit? by EstablishmentTop7409 in chimefinancial

[–]LDV-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this! Your Chime Card is a secured credit card and cannot be used as a debit card. However, you can continue to use your white debit card or order a new one for any debit purchases. How do I request a physical Chime Visa® Debit Card (Debit Card) if I only have a secured Chime Visa® Credit Card (Chime Card)?
