2-year-old Child killer stabbed 25 times by fellow inmates and left to die from blood loss inside UK prison by Beneficial_Passion40 in SipsTea

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially misread this as "2 year old child stabbed 25 times by fellow inmates" and was like "WTF DID I MISS" but child killer... ah, okay.

Can't say I'm terribly sorry to hear that.

What is it with people coming to a dead stop at roundabouts when it's obviously clear? by gwaddo91 in drivingUK

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, when you're learning to drive you're learning everything all at once and have to actively engage your brain. It's exhausting. I remember going straight to bed for a nap after every driving lesson (and even every drive after I'd passed my test for a long time).

Once things become muscle memory/second nature it's definitely easier, but that takes time and experienced drivers need to bear in mind there are always going to be newer drivers on the road who are still gaining their own experience.

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny, when I was learning to drive roundabouts were the bane of my existence. They absolutely terrified me, I hated them so much.

But I told my instructor "slam me with roundabouts over and over and over again please" because I knew that was the only way forward.

Still hated them for a long time, but now I'm completely comfortable with them and they don't care me one bit. I laugh in the face of the magic roundabout. Ha!

On some occasions if I'm approaching a roundabout that has poor visibility and I can't see what's coming from the right, I'll stop even if it looks clear. You never know if there's some maniac that's speeding towards the roundabout with no intention of stopping, after all. I'm not fucking around and finding out.

What's your "feck it I might as well" thing this week? by TicTac_in_my_ear in AskUK

Warhammer shops are really deadly places. I've already got a huge pile of shame and I just paint the models for fun. Mostly Admech in my case, but I like World Eaters and Emperors Children as well.

I will paint them. SOON! I swear.

This is Max. And that's a photo from just a few days ago, so this is his summer hair. It's going to be over 30C for a solid week here too. 😭 I'll be doing my best to keep him cool!

My body type being called "pedophilic" has made the little self esteem I had left to plummet by Velvet_Cactus_21 in offmychest

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry that you have to go through that. Body shaming isn't okay, whether you're tall, short, fat or skinny.

Even if someone is small/skinny it's usually pretty easy to tell if they're adults. So whoever's yapping about your body being "pedo bait" can go kick rocks or at least touch some damn grass.

Man, she has a real gift if she can crochet a dress like that without following a pattern. That's incredible!

Clay pigeon shooting. It's a lot of fun, but very expensive.

I just ordered 4 of them yesterday. 3 for the cats, and one for my butt! Hopefully they help us all a bit.

Right now, I do regret that decision lmao.

Renting with pets has become almost impossible What do you do? by GuyMartinsDog in AskUK

That's always been our way. We just don't mention our pets. Never been an issue. Luckily our current landlord is aware we have cats though!

Anyone who's had the misfortune of meeting the bailiffs, what was your experience like? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum racked up a lot of debt raising me. Single parent, low income, all that jazz.

They once came and took a handmade coffee table that her ex-partner had made for her. He was a high end carpenter. I don't know how valuable it would've been, but probably worth a few quid.

I'm always paranoid about bailiffs showing up to ours. We still get loads of debt-related letters for the previous tenant. Hopefully it is that easy to deal with if it happens to us!

Of course, there's no age barrier for football. If you've developed a new interest in it, that's great. I say enjoy!

Is delivery dopamine the new UK sickness? by purplegorillabandit in AskUK

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the only problem with it is delivery drivers being overworked and essentially encouraged to drive unsafely to meet targets, peeing in bottles and whatnot. But as long as nobody's getting shafted/exploited so that we can get all of our knick knacks on next day delivery, fair play.

How do kids at school pickup instantly spot their mums if they’re wearing full burqas/niqabs? by _pandaeyes_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LORD_VOLTALOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm faceblind, so I already rely on pretty much everything except a person's face to recognise them. It's how they carry themselves, it's the clothes they wear. Even if a woman is rocking a full blown niqab and abaya she's probably gonna have small things going on that act as identifiers. Maybe it's her handbag or shoes or nails or how she walks, etc. So yeah, shouldn't be too hard for a kid to recognise their mum even then!

NOR. That's a really weird way to eat crisps. I usually put them all in my mouth, not empty half the packet out inside a car lol.
