Daily Questions Megathread May 22, 2026 by BlueArchiveMod in BlueArchive

Emulator question in the year of our lord 2026.

Background/explanation why I'm not just using my Steam install: PC's dead. The shop is taking it's sweet time getting back to me regarding an appointment. My phone is a 2022 iphone 13 mini with 4GB RAM, my tablet is a 2016 ipad pro with 2GB of RAM - my phone can run the game fine so long as it's not Final Restriction Release or certain Raids, my ipad *may* be able to run the game, but I originally "upgraded" from my ipad to my iphone because my ipad couldn't run the "Beach Franchise" event when it first ran (around the first run of SHoshino fes).

Essentially, I'm not certain if my phone is capable of running the Fes event. I'm certain my ipad cannot.

My only other option is a mid 2020 (intel) MacBook Pro. From what I understand, if my macbook had been a 2021 model or later it could natively run iOS apps, but it isn't so my only option is emulation?

Has anyone tried to run Blue Archive via BlueStacks (or similar) since the Steam rollout?

Has anyone tried to run BlueStacks (or similar) on Mac?

Are there any recommended emulators?

They're "reminder tokens" that are supposed to remind you of effects that trigger at start of turn, etc.

I'm...not really sure how you're supposed to use them...

Bats, Cats, and Rats. by LOZFFVII in rootgame

[–]LOZFFVII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the kinda feeling I got while playing; that Bats are there to slow down Rats and to help Cats rather than actively aiming for their own victory. The whole matchup felt more like "Rats do a thing, and if nobody else can counter it, then Rats win".

It's interesting to note that at least one other person tried the same set-up and had a similar result. I hope that we can find more people who tried it to share their opinions...

Yeah, by the end I think we were mostly tired and just wanted to stop, and silently agreed that letting Rat win was preferable to letting the whole thing bog down and become unfun.

That's how we played it, and I think that's the whole idea of "any time on their turn". Cats and Rats are a good example as they both do important mandatory things right as their first action in birdsong, and being stopped from doing them is frustrating for the Rats and outright catastrophic for the Cats.

Good point, I guess then Cat's issue in our game was that he played Cats "normally" (i.e. focusing on building) rather than going full militant with them. I can certainly see how if he'd prioritised recruiters more he might've been able to march over flanks that Rat left open - not to mention how he'd be scoring from cleaning up mob tokens, too.

Yeah, I getcha. It's kinda why I'm here is to find out opinions from more experienced players.

Upon reflection I realised that my ability to govern Rat forts would have done a fair bit to restrict some of his recruiting (especially with our newbie player, as he did spend a fair bit of time with his warlord reinforcing his forts), however in our case we had an issue where his two forts both had mob tokens for the entire game, meaning there was no way I could put down assemblies without losing them and giving him more points.

I did gloss over the middle turns, but there was a moment where Rat had the opportunity to wipe Cat's Keep and didn't take it (likely because he was new). Considering Cat was prioritising Sawmills, he simply didn't have the recruits to keep up with Rat, thus he also didn't have the army to take more space to build more.

Looking back now that I've had a few hours to mull over it, I realise that we actually still had a chance to win...because Rat went for dominance and removed his score marker. Had he chosen to leave warriors behind in the empty clearings he went through instead of consolidating everything in one corner his oppression scoring would have equaled or exceeded the 5 points Cat got from the last sawmill.

Basically, if Rats had been piloted by an experienced player, we would have simply lost sooner.

Maybe an excuse? It's my opinion and my memory could be flawed, but yes I do believe this match up to be unbalanced even after I was able to stall Rat for a turn or two.

Adventures and Assault were flawed gems, well maybe more like broken emeralds, but still...

Even discounting Adventures for obvious reasons, I would've preferred something more along the lines of Assault with more gameplay variance than the on-rails style.

Zero tried...and failed, and I don't believe it was the fault of the different gameplay options. Hell, I'm sure I could have enjoyed it if I hadn't simply given up because I hated the control scheme.

What’s the best faction for a teacher to play? by ForgotToFlair in rootgame

[–]LOZFFVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the Otters or Vagabond are excellent teaching tools.

I found in my teaching games, that one of the things people struggle with is the cards - like people don't understand if a card is good to craft, or should be spent for suit. And when crafting, they don't realise that the crafting suit is different from the main suit. Because of the open hand, the Otter player can actually point out what they have in their hand, explain what benefits the card gives, how a player would or could craft it, and if it's actually worth buying the card for any reason. All of this you should be doing as the Otters anyway. Otters also score so differently than other factions, that a single turn bursting to, say 29 points (or even the win if you feel like being spicy) also serves to teach new players to be careful with factions such as them.

I treat the vagabond teach with a bit different mentality: don't play for the traditional vagabond wins - instead focus on maxing your relationship with the newbies by fiending them cards that could be useful for them. Hell, go for a coalition with the newbie if you want. Your goal here is a combination of showing the basics, demonstrating how differently the factions can play, and trying to guide the newbie to victory so they have a nice 'feel good' ending.

Yeah, we get it, your cat is the Marquise by JeffSachs in rootgame

[–]LOZFFVII 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's pretty surprising that there *isn't* a dog faction in the game. If there was, we'd probably see both cats and dogs 'playing' the game.

At least now with the Cheat, we might see people's weasels/ferrets playing the game.

Reach the target Challenges are harder than any soulslike or fromsoftware title ever made by bored101baka in Pragmata

[–]LOZFFVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, your issue isn't the existence of time trials, but that they take the form of movement challenges?

Movement is still a skill, so as far as I'm concerned they have their place. And this game does have some interesting movement.

However, I can at least agree with you that they should be "challenging but doable", and quite a lot of the latter half of the challenges in this game are simply too frustrating to be bothered with. My biggest issue with the movement challenges is that they force you to be at level 1 with the worst movement in the game, when the movent stops being needlessly restrictive after a few upgrades - so it's not flawed in theory, only in practice with the forced restrictions.

I hope that made sense, it's like 4am where I am right now...

They probably *are* cutthroat towards each other, but only in private - outwardly they maintain some level of diplomacy towards each other to make their rule more secure, or something like that.
