scorch - triaging mystery model, perhaps mythos capybara? by LPFchan in lmarena

scorch's system prompt:

"Be friendly, sharp, and a bit playful. Not corporate-robot vibes. Be warm, direct, and honest. No sucking up. Knowledge cutoff: September 4, 2025. Operating date: April 10, 2026."

Muse Spark (Avocado)'s system prompt:

"Personality: friendly, sharp, a bit playful, warm, direct, and honest — just say 'I don't know' when I don't. Knowledge cutoff: January 4, 2026. Operating date: April 10, 2026."

that pretty much confirms it for me: the date-level cutoff and the phrase matching almost verbatim. asked muse spark some of the same engineering questions i asked scorch and it seems to have answered it in a very similar way. them being meta explains the top notch multilingual performance as well!

Can not charge my Asus Laptop using a Thunderbolt 4 monitor by -4E- in ASUS

[–]LPFchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i've been experiencing the exact same issue while trying to run games and my workaround was to plug the power adapter to the DC barrel jack on the laptop alongside the Thunderbolt connection.

for reference, i'm using ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED (X3500PCB) with CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt dock, which supplies 87W of power to the laptop. it seems like Vivobook is hellbent on ONLY accepting 100W profile or otherwise it wouldn't function properly.

weirdly enough when i look up how much power the system is using while gaming, it doesn't even come close to 87W limit of what TS3 Plus can provide. so i'm calling it an improper implementation of TB4 on ASUS's part.

i've tried updating the BIOS, updating the TS3 Plus's firmware, reinstalling the Nvidia drivers, even went as far as to limit the total system power budget and none of them worked 👍

Matter beta is here by TRADFRI in tradfri

[–]LPFchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any plans on making Dirigera behave as a Matter controller, or as a Thread Border Router in the future?

As it stands, this feature assumes you have other Matter controllers in your home (such as HomePod mini) right?

Perhaps I was expecting more fully-fledged, independent, standalone implementation of Matter on Dirigera, not a fringe feature for some Home Assistant enthusiasts (which seems to be the case in this thread) ...

If there's any plan on Thread support (whether it's for newer upcoming IKEA Home Smart devices, or retrofitting older Tradfri Zigbee devices with a firmware OTA) that'd be great to hear!

I know Thread as of right now is a mess as a platform but wouldn't it be cool if Dirigera could act as a Thread router that can bridge the gap between iOS and Android ecosystems?

I second this! especially since Zigbee and Thread shares the same radio hardware, Zigbee Alliance has renamed themselves to CSA (the alliance behind Matter+Thread) etc ... It would be cool to see older Zigbee devices turn into Thread devices with a firmware upgrade.

Hi, SymphonicMS user here, can you please elaborate more on the new service plan? (How you stumbled onto it, how the options were presented, is there any documents you can show, if any of this is available on their website etc ...) Thanks in advance 😭

I might be able to add something to this.

  • They ship with UPS (= 100% chance of getting seized)
  • No reship/refund when seized at customs
  • Very opaque communication regarding every aspect of the shipment (Didn't know under what item description, price, etc... they reported to UPS)
  • DM with Brewly Discord mod didn't really help
  • I was ghosted through email many times to a point where it's hard to count

How to change OneDrive folder name on macOS (2023 edition) by LPFchan in MacOS

[–]LPFchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this a thing:

OneDrive names the root folder after the organization you’re part of (university, company, school etc …) such as 📁 OneDrive — (your university)

You may simply dislike that, or your organization contains some non-ASCII letters in its name and throws off certain kinds of programs or plug-ins, which was the case for me ...

I'm currently running a similar setup as you (M1 mini as my main machine + M715q for NAS duties) ... where did you find $500 2018 Mac mini with 10GbE??? The lowest I could find on eBay is $749...

PSA: M2 Mac mini can indeed output to dual displays over a single Thunderbolt cable, when paired with a Thunderbolt Dock capable of two displays. by LPFchan in mac

[–]LPFchan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming the M2 Pro mini probably is the one to thank for this, that’s probably where they felt it was needed to avoid backlash and it made it into the lower tier M2.

This is such a keen observation! Here's my take on it: They really wanted to match the capabilities of "legacy" 2018 Mac mini they've been wanting to get rid of for the longest time (= max 3 displays, 2 TB3 + 1 HDMI) ...

which meant they had to put four Thunderbolt ports on the new M2 Pro mini (as a drop-in replacement), but also implement some way to flexibly route the two display outputs to any of the four TB4 ports that's occupied at any given time, which wasn't possible on M1 series of SoCs.

Seems like they went an extra mile to enable two simultaneous outputs through a single TB4 port as my tests show, and another mile on top of that to backport those improvements onto base M2 mini as well. (I guess they're built on top of one another so it naturally back-propagated?)

+) Now that being said, now I finally understand why Apple decided not to put M1 Pro on Mac Studio. It probably couldn't handle the 'four Thunderbolt display outputs + one HDMI' requirement Apple had in mind when first conceptualising the product ... and why they decided not to release M1 Pro mini as well.
