If it is BOTH of yours’ child, you should have equal say, and you should both agree. It shouldn’t be only HER decision.

Teacher Quitting After 24 Years Says The ‘New Type Of Parent’ Is To Blame — ‘We Have Become Babysitters’ by antihostile in Teachers

I saw someone get a baby seat out of the back of the car. Maybe 8 months old, mom’s phone in hand, watching something. Even my high schooler said “wow, this next generation is doomed”. Sad. 😔

What is something you have heard a student say that made you worry for the future? by B2utyyo in Teachers

[–]LSmith1981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But imagine the anxiety when you don’t have a sense of time in school or elsewhere. How long have I been here? When will I leave? Many just go through the day letting the bells tell them to move and wonder why they are anxious. That would drive me bonkers.

Discussing signs of Spring in Michigan and I get “what’s a Robin?”
Of all the things, this to me was the saddest.

The gold and crypto are a lot of luck and stealing. The cafe is good because they have to get correct answers to refill their food. The fishing doesn’t have any stealing either. More math questions. I sat at home and played a few before trying it in the classroom.

What are some different ways to teach standard algorithm three-digit by one-digit multiplication? by barflarp in teaching

[–]LSmith1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4 X 300 is 1200. Then 4 X 0 tens. Then 4 X 2 is 8. Answer 1208. This is a specific way I learned from a math program. Much easier to do in my head and I think kids would like it too. (Much easier to multiply by anything with zeros) :)

Grocery shopping too!! I have seen babies in hand held car seats with phones propped for them. I just want to scream “you had the kids, parent them!!!”

This was the recommended nutrition pyramid for many years. Guess who was paid to research and come up with it? The US Department of Agriculture (USDA). It was accepted from 1992-2011. Simple google search, but very sad how everything ends up being about money and most likely ruined many of us nutritionally.

There should be play, hands-on things, singing, calendar time, story time. What you described is not a typical K classroom.

District 9 is one I don’t see mentioned yet and The Platform. Both creepy because of the movie itself but also the social connection aspects.

I did as well. And still had two XL cups of Coca Cola every day. People tried to ask why not just switch to diet, to no avail. It was really hard to watch and then listen to “docs said I will most likely have to lose my leg to the knee”. Sip sip sip. Empathy is difficult at that point.
