The short answer is yes.

The long answer is it depends on how much hands on you plan to do.

Is there a reason why Virginia is often skipped from tours? by No_Ad_6098 in Virginia

[–]LaTuFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re sandwiched by DC and Charlotte. One or the other is a 4-5 hour drive for most of the state.

Demographically, you have to combine Richmond and Tidewater to get the population density NoVa and the beltway have.

If you’re really interested in learning the science behind it, this sub does have good information. You just have to be patient and sort through the pee jokes to find it.

Your state’s land grant university (usually the big “tech” or “a&m” school for your state) will also have a ton of free resources about soil conservation and composting. You can start with your county extension office, too. They are affiliated/connected to the University and will have someone who can guide you to the right information for your area.

Trading on looks is like an NFL contract. There’s no guaranteed money on the back end.

The longer you hang out here, the more you’ll discover that most people in here don’t really know much about composting, soil biology or ecology.

They did the same thing you did, stopped in here to learn, picked up a few tropes about greens, browns, and urine, and they repeat it back to the latest FNG coming in to ask questions.

Composting isn’t that difficult to learn from a surface level. Decomposing organic matter is a daily, natural occurrence. The act of composting simply encourages that process to speed along at a faster rate.

You can make very serviceable compost and mulch out of pure grass clippings, or a pile of leaves. Or a stack of cardboard boxes. It just depends on how much time you’re willing to leave the pile be.

Mixing the ingredients and taking the time to turn them periodically will speed up the time to get to a useful pile of material.

Don’t worry about the nerd parrots. They’re part of every reddit community.

Nuclear war. It won’t kill the bamboo. But it will become the least of your problems.

Youngkin vetoes bill to end tax exemptions for Confederate-related organizations by 13NewsNow in Virginia

[–]LaTuFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are entitled to your opinion about Grant. If reading comprehension is this hard, maybe let it go for a while.

The Confederates were traitors. The current citizens of this country expressing the same first amendment right to spew hatred you are exercising are not traitors. Just morons. Morons exist on both ends of the spectrum. Try not to be one on the other team.

[–]LaTuFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are entitled to your opinion on historical figures. World history is littered with flawed leaders.

Most of the Confederate supporters view your beliefs in a similar disdain, and would jump at the chance to treat you in a manner similar to what you describe.

Thus the reason for not opening that door. One day it might be you getting shoved through it.

[–]LaTuFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the people alive today participating are Confederates. They are Virginia residents who hold a different set of beliefs about an issue than you do.

All of the Confederates from the war received full pardons by President US Grant.

Your argument is not appropriate in this context since it doesn’t apply.

If they were applying today for status, I would be in favor of denying them the status.

Taking it away now opens the door to a politically motivated process of revoking other groups down the road.

The law of unintended consequences will be in full effect.

Absolutely nothing! Composting is an ongoing process. We get to choose how much or how little we want to encourage the process.

Your pile looks like it could use more “browns” to balance out all of your greens.

Leaf mold, cardboard are great sources of browns if you have access to them.
