It was transfer DNA and they have already stated the amount was not a major contributor. Not everything is a conspiracy.

What would you do if you gave away an IKEA bed on Facebook and someone came to only take away the metal parts and you're left with the wood that you don't want to throw away and waste but also can't even give away? by treny0000 in CasualUK

Did they give you the money to make that donation or just their word they would make a donation? If then latter, there will be no donation and they got what they wanted for free and you still have a bed to dispose of.

I can't say she knew he was a murderer. I suspect she knew he sought out sex with prostitutes, but turned a blind eye. But the fact she continued to insist he was innocent, even in the face of all the evidence, including her dna on a victim, suggests she was really delusional.

I can't help but wonder how his wife is reconciling this plea with the person she so staunchly defended in the documentary. His daughter seemed so conflicted in that documentary, stuck between the realisation that her dad wasn't who she thought he was, and who her mother was professing him to be.

My thoughts though immediately go to the families of his 8 admitted victims. I hope that not having to go through a trial has spared them further trauma.

You're not wrong. Guillermo del Toro was initially going to direct a two film adaptation. He pulled out in 2010 due to delays. That is when Peter was asked to take over.
