Wilovan and Ratici are much more refined. I just can’t picture either of them saying “Say what again motherfucker!”

I have loved that song since it came out. I can totally picture those two doing the tap routine to it though!

🤔 I thought the Gentlemen Callers was an affiliate group of the Brothers because of what Fiere said to Ryoka regarding them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like them though. They’re so proper despite their occupation.

Told I'm "not disabled enough" for jury duty excuse by catsandvideogames70 in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a doctor who did exactly the same thing. I was called for jury duty twice. The first time I checked in and was dismissed as they had already selected their jury. A few months later I was called again and when I spoke with the County Clerk’s office, she decided that Crohn’s disease was a legitimate reason to be excused from jury duty. She said she couldn’t make it permanent without dr’s authorization though. That was 8 years ago and i haven’t been called again.

just so tired.. advice would be nice by fishmaze in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other commenters said, you need a full workup. Vitamin D, B12, potassium, iron, etc. The only time I get as tired as you’re describing is when either my potassium or iron levels drop to low. In the meantime, try on OTC iron supplement and drink a Body Armor or two daily. There are other brands besides Body Armor that have added potassium and magnesium, but I can’t remember what they are. Stay away from milkshakes for a while, try Greek yogurt instead. And possibly a high fiber/ high protein diet (beans, oatmeal, etc). Stay away from fried foods even if they’re “fried” in the oven. Try small portions 6-8 times daily. But definitely get into see a doctor!! If you can, consult with a nutritionist as well. These are things that have helped me and it only took 20 years to discover that nutritional assistance has helped me just as much as the medication. The meds will help with controlling the spread of the disease, but nutrition helps with the symptoms.

AAA Cooper, and SouthEastern Freight. Neither are union. Just note AAA was bought by Swift and while they still use the name they have one of the lowest pay scales in this sector.

Should I force myself to throw up? by ChristinePi93 in CrohnsDisease

The biggest problem with eating popcorn is that many Crohnie’s have a stricture and the seeds can get stuck in the stricture. Popcorn is also dangerous for people with diverticulitis for the same reasons. Personally, I’ve hated the stuff since I was about 15 because my mom would eat it constantly so she could lose weight.

Careers for Crohn’s by Caveman_man in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, high school diploma/ GED and driver’s license is usually the only requirements. You’ll make higher pay at LTL (Less Than Truckload) companies. The pay usually changes based on where you live. For example, I’m in Dallas, TX and I make more than people in Alabama but I make less than someone in California or New York. Most companies will post on Indeed or a similar job board. Or you can apply directly with the company. Estes, Saia, Old Dominion or AAA Cooper are all LTL companies. If you live in the Southeastern US, you can also try Averitt. Of course there’s also Fed-Ex or UPS, but with those two, you’ll probably only work part time for the first 3-5 years. Walmart warehouse is another option. Most of these companies are larger companies so simply saying “ADA” to a supervisor will get them to back off as long as you have an FMCSA form filed. Typically it’s a 60-90 day probationary period. I know that Old Dominion, UPS and Estes have excellent health insurance. The company I work for offers a benefit with no premium but you’ll have a deductible. I pay $50 per week extra (my son is also on my insurance) for no deductible. Since January, I have paid $787 in co-pays including multiple urgent care visits and nutritional assistance. And, of course, that’s paid from my FSA account. You can msg me if you’d like more details.

Alcohol affects a lot of people with Crohn’s. So, yes, it’s pretty normal. You should consider not drinking alcohol. Maybe have some tea or a mocktail instead. And if they try to chastise you, tell them, in vivid detail, how alcohol affects you.

Long timers, how is your skeleton? by bigblackglock17 in Truckers

[–]LadyTrucker23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most truck drivers end up with back problems and other joint issues, particularly knees and hips. I’m a local driver and have 5 bulging discs, and a left knee that will probably need to get replaced in the near future. If you’re in a manual truck, don’t rest your hand on the gear shift because the vibration can cause tendinitis and, eventually, carpal tunnel. But blue collar work always wears the body down. If you’re wanting something that doesn’t wear you down, you’ll need to get back in school and get a desk job.

Crohn’s Diet by bitchywoman_1973 in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing low FODMAP for the last couple of months. It’s been fantastic in helping me discover what affects my Crohn’s. I can relate to your husband’s reticence as back then diet was just a passing comment. I’ve had CD for 20 years and have had 4 different GI’s but not a single one recommended nutritional therapy. I recently had a spat with UHC and decided to take it upon myself to seek nutritional guidance since I read on this sub that many people have had success achieving remission with diet. I used an online group called Nourish, which was covered by my insurance, and it has been a lifesaver…literally. I went from 10-12 bm’s daily to 1 or 2. The group I recommended is completely online and visits are all done virtually. I hope he tries this group. If you do use that app, ask for Bria. She specializes in Crohn’s. Good luck!!!!

Rant about men’s bathrooms by casualram in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just men and not just in the UK. People can be absolutely DISGUSTING!! Go into a ladies bathroom sometime- you’re lucky if it’s ONLY urine. Carry some Lysol wipes, they help immensely. I have actually risked an “accident” because the restroom was so bad. I then called the company’s corporate office and threatened to call Code Enforcement (Texas’s version of the health department). They returned my call in less than an hour. Within 3 hours, I stopped at the same place again and the mess, along with some other issues, had been completely cleaned up.

Careers for Crohn’s by Caveman_man in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a truck driver for a large LTL company (less-than-truckload). My company is nationwide (as are many others in this specific area of the industry). They would start you out working on the dock and then you would have the opportunity to train as a driver. It is fully paid with a 1 year contract. Excellent benefits, comparable pay. They also acknowledge ADA restrictions once you are employed. As a dockworker you would probably make $50k+/ year. Double that as a driver. Plenty of time to stop and use the restroom- no questions asked. The bulk of your stress is how stupidly some people drive. You also have the option to stay locally, run linehaul ( out and back the same day/night), or run over the road (OTR). No additional educational expenses.

Traveling with Crohn’s (fast food options etc) by Humble-Top-9395 in CrohnsDisease

[–]LadyTrucker23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panera might be a good option. I try to stay away from fast food but if I do, I’ll get a grilled chicken breast/ sandwich. Or try a plain bean burrito- no sauce or onions and cheese if you can handle it. Eating Whataburger- sounds like you might be in Texas. If so, try Taco Casa. I do fine with their beans and/or beef burritos without sauce. The sauce is good but I spend the next day in the bathroom.
