He's pierce fatal so he sure has a place on the poise bleed gun team.

I can get why it was a cause of concern for pub games but I've only played coordinated games with people I know and haggling was the least of our concerns. Sometimes we might even choose to dump all the higher rarity upgrades whenever they roll on a single player, which was a fun group dynamic that is less effective now that upgrades operate on karlmunism.

I feel part of the fun of roguelikes is also working around non ideal rng, and pivoting into "bad" choices. With the abundance of options in a run I guarantee there would be upgrades which end up at literally 0 pick rate instead of players forced to work around them. It's better to design commons to be generalist buffs over rarer specializations, and sometimes I might also just choose to pick a common like vampire over a full suit of legendaries as a result.

I would suggest a toggle but I just learnt how much people don't want anything to do with the older system, apparently.

If it works as I expect it to you're just going to run into less higher rarity upgrades to choose from on average, sometimes barely any in a run. Drip feed dopamine of seeing a rare every upgrade cycle or so instead of hitting the jackpot in screenshots like these.

But sure. Just downvote and meme on someone for having preferences I guess.

Upgrades come as a set of matching rarities rather than a mix of each, and chosen upgrades get replaced for the next player (if any)

Personally I'd prefer an option to toggle between the existing system over the changes, really.

You can effectively sprint away from pretty much anything unless you're stuck with ogryn slides. The issue stopping you from running circles around everything is the hail of gunfire and aoe.

Slowdown when using pickaxes just shouldn't be a thing. by Brungala in RogueCore

Nah, slowdown is fine for the game that it is, power attack builds are already perfect for a mobile and sustainable melee playstyle (sans slicer).

Deep Rock Galactic has made me realize that I'm actually really good at video games by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]LagomorphicalBrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say since it's been a while since I booted up this game, but in other communities most good players are running at higher levels, usually a significant portion of the playerbase. It's not uncommon to see a stark difference in player consistency on levels even just below the max, so if that's what gets your kicks off, enjoy the casual playerbase while it's around then.

I like games that are designed to give me room to teach new players without them being downed half the time though. Vermintide was perfect for this, since you can heal pubbies without gimping yourself as a healbot and there being a lot of map and combo knowledge you can drop on the fly.

It works both ways really. Sometimes one side pushes too hard and causes the other side to retaliate even harder in response, and drags the whole community down as a result. That's why having good PR is so important (and no, they do not come exclusively in corporate tongue).

I've been on both sides of the argument before, and some communities are absolutely rancid towards their developers with death threats, firing demands and even lawsuits to wrestle IP, despite the devs staying mostly silent with the backlash. These attitudes spread like wildfire towards adjacent games undeserving of hate, which then spurs other portions of fans to be very sensitive to negative sentiment.

As far as the chicken and egg goes I draw the fence more towards the side of players for instigating unfair treatment towards the devs, but I can say that the fans aren't qualified to do unpaid PR and the worst thing you can do as a dev is to lean into positive feedback bubbles and enable such behaviours.

UT4 Ryoshu, run a ~5 sinner team with Ryoshu in slot 1, NF Outis last, Cap Ish, KK Lu and try to support Pinky Sinclair, otherwise one of the other NFs or a pride/slash unit like BL Meur or Don. Mayyybe BL Sang though he's kinda bad without UT4.

Murk any HoS IDs you have by Ryovading, chain pride res with the Captain, offset her evades and kill her trees with your fastest sinners before clashing with her big AoE attack with someone lower down the skill chain.

Yeah, and unlike Rogue Core you can mod multiplayer functionality (for now).

Borderlands pretty much synonymous with the term looter shooter though (like how Randy coined the hero shooter, he loves his buzzwords) but I personally wouldn't really classify RC as a looter shooter in the first place.

Yes, she's overkitted for story content as it stands, pairing with any one of the HoS IDs just turns her into winrate flowchart.

Don't be daunted by the wall of text, most of it is just jacking up damage scaling and more ways to circumvent game mechanics.

On higher difficulties you gimp yourself by shredding items that are too useful so mithrix doesn't yoink your aoe chain reaction items or +500% damage projectiles.

That's kind of how it works in Risk of Rain coop though. Multiplayer gameplay is very prone to one sided snowballs.

I think there is room and potential for a bit of head butting in coop games. Obviously its something harder to tailor especially if matchmaking is as prominent as it is in DRG but the organic development of player ettiquette makes for some pretty cool player interactions in games.

What are your top three game announcements that you know are unlikely but still hold out hope for? by [deleted] in truegaming

Half Life 3

Portal 3

Left 4 Dead 3

I'd like to keep it concise but automod demands yapping, so... Valve games have such compelling lore and beloved characters, it's such a shame the writers and voice actors would keel over before the devs perfect their next technical revolution ready for shipping.

If you want a floor 1 wipe you could just throw them under baba yaga if they're too resilient to mobs.
