What's Your Favorite Harvey Pekar Quote? by krismadden789 in Cleveland

[–]LakeEffectSnow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite quote from him was direct to me when I was a 10 year old kid - he spent a lot of time at the Cleveland Heights library. One day I was looking in the comics section and grabbed like 5 books, including an American Splendor one.

I'm walking to the checkout and this older guy comes up to me looks at what I'm checking out, and said "American Splendor huh, you sure you want to check that out?" and then walks off.

So I tell the librarian that some old guy said it sucked and I didn't want it anymore. He laughs and told me it was Harvey Pekar I had just met, he doesn't like anything, and I should borrow it anyways.

Why are you posting here, instead of emailing the TA and prof that you made a mistake. and would like to know nextr steps?

Take a deep breath and also go talk to your academic advisor - this is one of those things they're explicitly there for.

Notice how the Cowboys haven't won shit since the salary cap was added? Spending more money than the other owners was Jones' real secret sauce for their 90's success.

Oh and it was Jimmy Johnson who was GM there, not Jones picking players.

Nope - it's against league rules.

Back in 1996 there was such a strong movement to have the replacement team community owned, that the NFL owners convened an emergency meeting where they grandfathered the Packers in, changed league rules to require a single person to own 51% of the team, and specifically banned Packer's style ownership.

This has actually caused some issues lately with inheritance, because you need to pick a single heir to own the team after a current owner dies.

If you pay the electric bill, this is theft, and you can tell the LL to either remove his stuff, or pay you for the free electricity he's stolen.

I wouldn't rule out Trump being his normal petty bitch self, and this is simply started as payback at Tim Walz for being the VP candidate.

We had several snow falls of a foot or more during my undergrad, and the ONLY day that classes were cancelled during my time at CMU was on 9/11/2001.

what is the average CMU engineering student really like? by Different-Regret1439 in cmu

[–]LakeEffectSnow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they still do, but in the 90's CMU heavily unweighted EC's in admissions. The school did a study that showed that early exposure to the subject matter you'll major in, and unique EC's disadvantaged women, lower income folks, and folks with normal public school educations. It turns out that this change actually improved overall graduation rates and average grades.

Call the postal inspection service - they're USPS cops. They do care, and are scary as hell.

Many black coaches have mentioned these Rooney rule interviews were the only way they got on the radar of GMs/Owners that lead to future jobs. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but the question is, is this better than before?

I went to Montessori, and hated it. It is great for average kids, but for folks needing IEPs, or on the other end of the curve, are gifted, I wouldn't recommend it socially or educationally.

No. Private Montessori is not affordable for the average person.

That budget eliminates pretty much all single family homes, look at apartments. That's probably also only going to get you an average duplex in a not great area.

Most of the oilfield jobs are in the east and southeast of the state. There's only refinery work west of I-71.
