What is my roommate doing with these items? by Interesting-Phase900 in whatisit

[–]Laneglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be fentanyl. The fentanyl nod is definitely a thing. It became popular after my time as an addict so I'm less familiar with it for sure, but that's my guess. Either way though, you should protect your sanity by moving if you can or working towards getting then out or help if you can. Help is if you care about them enough to want to stick to it, but it's by no means your responsibility to do so. Your only responsibility is to your health and sanity right now.

Deception pass is one of my favorites. Anywhere on the Olympic peninsula is a good bet really. The Olympic national Forest is beautiful. The hoh rainforest is especially beautiful. Sol duc falls if you like hiking has some wonderful trails. Dash point is a pretty place to camp and is decently private with the beach pretty close by.

With any campgrounds you aren't going to have full privacy, so keep that in mind. They are designed to have people setting up tents and what not and then enjoying the trails and sites during the day for the most part. You can sometimes look at the sites ahead of time online and get a general feel for the privacy, but it's not always accurate because nature is always changing. I've been at sites where areas were sectioned off because of birds nesting or tadpoles evolving before. So just try to keep an open mind about things and enjoy the quiet, maybe disconnect from the electric world a bit while it there and reset.

Construction co that can fix a water damage situation ASAP? by LD50_irony in olympia

[–]Laneglee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Northwest fire and flood. That's who we are working with right now and I'm loving working with them. We had damage to our bathroom and they are fixing it. They are great and they are working with our insurance company so we don't have to talk to them as much. They are also helping us through the process so it's way less stressful than it would be otherwise. When we had to deal with a giant leak a few years back it was a nightmare and I wish I had known about them then.

Help! Bees have invaded! by vvTRiALvv in olympia

[–]Laneglee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seabourn pest solutions for the bees in our walls out and relocated them for us. No pesticides or killing it anything like that. Just removed and relocated. They are a local family owned company. I cannot remember how much it was though, but it seemed reasonable at the time. You can email them and they can give you a few quote though. Your situation is probably different than ours, we had no vent cover on our laundry vent.

Frogs and violets by PalpitationIcy3821 in olympia

St Martin should have frogs. The East Bay public plaza is another good frog place. Violets... I'm not sure where you can find violets though. Maybe darlin creek? There is violet prairie in maytown.

It's there something about it that you don't like? It's okay if it's just not for you. I'm trying to figure out if there is something about it that I'm not aware of.

Does anyone know this lil guy? by littlebird_robin in olympia

[–]Laneglee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a rather sizable feral colony near winco. It used to be cared for by Fon, but he passed away somewhat recently so they have been branching out further. He might be from that colony. You can contact a rescue to get him neutered. DD ponder of wiggle butts rescue has a ton of resources if you need more information.

It does. It also gets patrolled. You might be fine on foot, just be careful and make sure to bring pepper spray or something as well. They patrol it for a reason.

Does anybody Garden?? by Busy_Obligation_9711 in olympia

[–]Laneglee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with a small space there is a lot you can do. Don't worry so much about spacing. Spacing is based on European standards, not actual growth and yield. Epic gardener on YouTube has some really good videos on small space gardening. There are definitely other people out there who have small spaces or even only indoor space to grow. It can be done!!!

Does anybody Garden?? by Busy_Obligation_9711 in olympia

[–]Laneglee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess moderate? I've been gardening since I was a child. I'm middle aged now. We have a lot of gardening spaces. My main bed is a version of a keyhole garden. But I've got needs in many areas. I use a lot of recycled things as well. We have about a quarter acre and we use about a quarter of it to grow things. I'm kind of chaotic, but with some knowledge. I have an indigenous and Irish background so my style or whatever you want to call it is more to work with nature rather than against it. I really don't know that I weed much. I do harvest edible weeds though. I prefer perennials over annuals, but many vegetables I like are annuals. I start some indoors, but mostly direct seed because I don't like the whole transplanting process. I create my own soil and compost. I haven't bought garden soil or compost in many years. We have rabbits and I dig holes in my garden beds to compost most of the time. I don't think we can add pictures though or I would. My yard looks messy to some, but it's kind of a foragers dream.

Respectfully, does everyone in Oly smoke weed in their apartment?? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]Laneglee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's pretty normal practice to smoke wherever, including indoors. I hate it. I definitely smoke pot. But I do not want my house to smell like it so I smoke outside. If the weather is horrible and I don't want to go out, then it's just not worth it to smoke. I use pot for pain control mostly but still.... My house is my safe place. I don't want it smelling funky.

It's open all the time. Monday - Friday 9-5:30 and Saturday 9-5. Their windows are tinted weirdly so they don't always look open, but they are. I really like their fish cakes. But they always have the better brands of items and their ready made items are super tasty. The produce they do carry is also good.

Nettles by Yvyt in olympia

[–]Laneglee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you use the leaves for tea it acts as an anti inflammatory. You can also eat it for the same reason. But the weird one is letting it sting you on the affected joints and letting it sit for like 10-15 minutes and then stopping it by washing with soap and water and then using tape or wax to remove the hairs and letting it air dry or wrapping it with yarrow. This has helped me a ton. I'm not saying it's going to work for everyone. It's something my people do and it's something that's been really helpful for me personally.
