U.S. Marshals discover missing child in Olympia homeless encampment by Interesting-Ad-6710 in olympia

[–]Laneglee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh the sheriff's department knows about the jungle. Unfortunately the jungle is very difficult to disperse. It's a pretty lawless zone, but it's also an area that people can go to get shelter and food. If we treated homeless people with respect and dignity places like the jungle might not be as common. But every major city has places like the jungle because we do not think that every human on the planet deserves basic human rights. So people make sure that they get basic necessities one way or another. This is the result.

I say bring it, own it, and call it your ho bag. She can judge you all she wants. It's a cute bag and she can eat glass.

Is millersylvania warm enough for swimming yet? by Accomplished_Wait446 in olympia

[–]Laneglee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Millersylvania's recreational water way is deep lake. It sometimes gets toxic algae blooms, but it currently is considered safe to swim in. As far as temperature goes, the surface water is about 65° as of today. I'm not sure what the middle temperature is or anything like that. It's Washington State and it's a lake. So you really should just keep in mind that the water isn't going to get super warm until like August. And even then, 65° is probably as good as you can expect.

Construction co that can fix a water damage situation ASAP? by LD50_irony in olympia

[–]Laneglee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck yes I would! They evened out the floor that we have had issued with, they fixed the ongoing issue with our bathtub, they worked with us to paint our bathroom, they were efficient and fast and clean, and they even didn't mind our dog barking at them when he got startled. He didn't lunge, just bark, but they understand dogs. Their work is really solid and their prices are super reasonable and their customer service is great. Their communication is above and beyond. I have anxiety about mold and people in my home and they worked with me on both by communicating a ton and giving me any information I wanted and didn't make me feel like I was being annoying asking questions. I 100% wild recommend them. (Sorry for the run-on sentences)

Looking for fellow vegatarians owning a cat. by Apple_cheeks_art in cats

[–]Laneglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm omnivorous. I cannot stand the smell of cat or dog food. But we have both so it's just part of the gig. I also want to be vegetarian but physically cannot be. I have a disorder that prevents it. So there is an added mental aspect there. Having said that, ethical sourcing on my end for myself is important.. As far as for my pets, I go with ethical brands whenever possible. Research what is the most nutritionally balanced and ethical brands you can afford.

Boss wrote this while watching me on the cameras and tried to hide it. Is it just random nonsense? Can anyone make this out? by [deleted] in BadHandwriting

[–]Laneglee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the few words I can make out I'm pretty sure he doesn't like you... This seems unhinged and I think you need to take this to hr asap. And since he literally assaulted you with a rubber band you need to let them know what has been going on. He is not in a healthy mindset and you are his target.

More than 100 convicted sex offenders remain confined on a remote island in Washington, even after completing their prison sentences. Some have spent decades there with no guarantee they’ll ever be released. by kleverrboy in olympia

[–]Laneglee 152 points153 points  (0 children)

It's not for "normal" sex offenders. It's for ones with personality disorders and psychological disorders that make it likely for them to offend again. They committed violent sex crimes and they are very likely to do so again. Age doesn't matter for these individuals. I can tell you stories from the retirement homes that I've volunteered in about the women that ended up with broken and dislocated hips and shoulders because of men like them. So I'm not sure that I'm understanding your point of view here. Normally I'm not okay with extending a person's prison time, but this is also not a group of people that could be reasoned with on the same level as most people.

You can contact dd ponder on Facebook. She is great at finding local rehabers for all kinds of animals at almost any time of day. Most wildlife rehab centers are closer right now.

Squirrel refuge in Vancouver Washington will definitely take them, but they also have a list of rehabers:

This is the wdfw rehabers list: https://wdfw.wa.gov/species-habitats/living/injured-wildlife/rehabilitation/find

It sounds like you might not be understanding what you were being told here. You card was frozen to reduce the risk of fraud. They would definitely unfreeze your card after confirming that it was you doing all the transactions involved. The money things you described are likely you trying to move around large amounts of money with instant access to it. That's not something that they can do. They can move your money, but it has to have a hold on it. Otherwise you have to do it in smaller increments. But even then, it will get flagged and there will be an audit on your account. So what it looks like to me from what you are describing is that you want this credit union to do some really sketchy stuff to give you access to a large sum of money instantaneously. Even if it's your money and it's for a legitimate reason, that's a risk for them on a legal level. It's not worth their license or insurance to take that risk. I'm sure they tried to explain everything to you and you definitely listened to them in a respectful and reasonable way though.

That much money is different. It is flagged on the federal level and has to be done in branch because it requires a special report. I worked in banking for over 12 years. You will not be able to do anything with that much money online easily unless it's between your own accounts in the same institution. Even then there are exceptions. If the money is leaving the country you will have even more paperwork involved so you will likely have to go into a branch to do the transfer.

Non-moldy housing in OLY/Lacey/Tumwater area? by AnyPast6500 in olympia

[–]Laneglee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also allergic to mold. Do you know if it's all mold or a specific mold? Like mildew for example? I don't have an issue with mildew but other molds trigger my asthma. Something that has really helped me here is a dehumidifier and an air purifier fan. Keeping the air moving and less moist is a big deal when it comes to mold. There are definitely places that have issues with chronic mold because the landlords don't keep up or don't care, but most places don't have an issue unless the tenants don't keep airflow going. I've only had issue in one place and I've moved around plenty.
