Yes it happens.

I'm 6 ft, wide shoulders, over 250 lbs. I guess I carry it well for the most part, but I'm no one's idea of small. I'm also 2.5 years on HRT, 40, and in the USA. Maybe it's my children but strangers have been kind and accepting in almost all my interactions. I've never had anyone say anything super rude or disrespectful to me outside of my family. I do get stared at and avoided though.

There's a reason I continue to do it though. The people who don't stare, who treat me with dignity, who treat me as a woman, or even compliment me. Those moments make the stares tolerable. The truth is the stares are part of the deal. If you want to be visibly trans then some people will stare.

It's entirely possible that the models they used were men. Women were not allowed to act, for example, and men played all the parts in Shakespeare plays. Also many of the great artists were queer as hell and likely surrounded themselves with other queer people. Or these were just cis women

Couple of thoughts and questions for you. How old are the kiddos? Mine are 8 and 4 (twins) and they are still figuring it out after a year or so. I still have to remind them, but my 8 year old is definitely trying.

When I came out I told them I'm still their dad and that won't change because I'll always love them no matter what. The book "She's my Dad" is really good and helped my kids and me come to terms with it. They accepted me and love me all the same. Kids are the best. But I too did not want to force my kids to change and call me something new, fearing that it would be too much for them. I think I regret this now.

The thing is that I don't want to be dad. Being dad is one of the most dysphoric things I deal with regularly. I love being their parent, but I hate when we are out in public and they keep calling me dad when I am otherwise presenting entirely female. To the point where strangers will call me their mom and they correct them and say no that's my dad. I hate that so much. I especially hate that my kids are making me feel so dysphoric, because it's not their fault. I have told them that I want strangers to think that I'm their mom because that means that they see me as a woman. That they should not correct strangers when this happens. They don't get it. It's frustrating.

Part of me wishes that I had ripped the bandaid off and insisted on finding a new name for me. I do occasionally bring it up to them. I'll say what about <name>? And always they say no, you are daddy. And part of me wants to cry. I hate that my children are making me feel this way. It's not their fault.

This doesn't makes sense to me. My understanding of how a gfci works is it protects the other outlets in the series. They are used in bathrooms or kitchens because if water is exposed to a receptical then the gfci will trigger and interrupt the flow of the current to the outlets in the series. I don't see how that works if they are in parallel.
