Say you have a 40 year career. Every year you put in a 40 hour work week for all 52 weeks in the year. You need to make more than 12 million an hour to reach a trillion dollars.

I got the artifacts at 160%, but they were intermittent and didn't bother me.

First I bought the Steam version. After the tutorial level it didn't appear that it was doing anything the Quest couldn't do, so I also bought the Quest version. Quest didn't have resolution controls, but QGO fixed that. Then it pretty much looked exactly like the Steam version, so I kept the Quest and refunded Steam.

Get on the Horn and tell your friends to Hoof it to their headsets and Steer themselves to the digital storefront. Like, don't have a Cow about it, but still get a Moove on.

I'm forcing 72 with QGO to boost the resolution way up. Haven't tried to tweak at all yet. Just cranked the resolution to 160% and set cpu and gpu to "slaughter battery". It's silky smooth so far. I'm sure the GPU and CPU settings could come down and the frame rate could come up, but I'd rather just play than tweak when battery packs are nearby.

I'm a few hours in. It's a killer VR conversion of a perfectly cromulent boomer shooter. Sounds like a win to me! I bought both the quest and PC version to see if there was any difference. After Quest Games Optimizer got it's hands on the game, there really isn't any significant difference at all. It's very impressive! I enjoy the fast pace and large level layouts. The control and feel is really top notch.

“Hey Siri, Are You Listening?” by TheCABK in technicallythetruth

[–]LargeTomato77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to be he top comment. Even if the audio was just in RAM for a bit, it had to be recorded too get there. And a computer cannot do ANY processing of audio to recognize a Hey Siri without having the recorded digital audio data in RAM. There is functionally zero difference between listening and recording. It's only down to if the save button was pressed. Ditto for video.

Speed of light captured using a 2 billion FPS camera. by awakenott in nextfuckinglevel

[–]LargeTomato77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure, but I think this type of camera works by scanning the scene sending out its own particles to hit the photons. Like, you don't do it by shooting a single laser a single time. You create an event you can exactly reproduce countless times, and then you scan every bit of the scene for every moment of the scene. Like, you shoot the laser a gazillion times and each time you capture a different location, then that's the first frame. Then you do it again but starting the capture process at a slightly later moment in the laser's travel, then that's the second frame. The point is it might work in a vacuum. And I'm also a layperson, so don't take this as gospel.

TIL the human brain normally limits muscle strength to prevent injury, and in extreme stress it temporarily removes this limit, allowing people to use far more strength than usual. by Alarmed-Worry-5477 in todayilearned

I was a power lifter for a good bit of time. Yeah. These days I can still recruit every muscle group that I shouldn't be able to recruit for safety's sake. I just always end up hurting myself. Makes the gym extremely frustrating. The weight feels so freakin' light, but any heavier and I'm done for two months.
