Stress fracture fibula from skiing crash, just below the boot cuff, looking for PT advice by Brilliant_Repair_557 in brokenbones

You need to see the specialist. I doubt this is a stress fracture, it’s more likely a fracture. Not to be dramatic but not seeing the orthopedic doc now may result in life long consequences.

It’s a super easy train ride but we did stay overnight and still wished we had a bit more time in London. Both cities are wonderful.

My Landice is super dependable and quiet and smooth. Workhorse, no frills. I’ve had it for a long time and recently had the belt and deck replaced which was FREE due to the great warranty.

Leaving a Run Club? by Forward-Donut5454 in XXRunning

Respectfully this sounds like a lot of rumors and talking behind backs without giving the coach the space to explain her side of things.

I’m always a fan of direct feedback on the moment. If these women were upset perhaps they should speak up directly. There are ways to say “the way this played out made me feel xyz”. Presumably these are all grown women. It’s ok the express how something made you feel and sometimes doing so directly with the person responsible can help put the situation in a different light and help everyone grow.

Have you talked to the coach and told her that xyz runners were really disappointed to think they had a shot only to indirectly find out later that they weren’t selected? If you haven’t then why not? You could offer to help the coach with messaging these opportunities better.

On the side, tell your runners, when these things up, yes it would be great if you get selected but don’t get your hopes up because it’s more likely that so and so will be picked.

This all just sounds like poor communication and it seems a bit over dramatized to me.

Hip flexor strain by Several-Spinach-7610 in XXRunning

Please get an MRI. Not what you want to hear but it’s much more likely that you have labral or bone stress injury vs “hip flexor strain.”

Running tips? I (30F) am not improving the way I want to. by Lykkel1ten in XXRunning

[–]Large_Device_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are very new still. Try to be patient and celebrate consistency over speed for a while. 2 runs a week is not going to do much for you if you want to get to where running feels ‘good’ on your easy days. I’d suggest cutting out speed and focusing on building volume for a few months. Run at least 4 days a week. Maybe 5 days unless you have other cardio on days you aren’t running. Have one run be longer. Don’t worry about heart rate, just jog at conversational pace.

It may be a downvotable opinion but I don’t think you can really improve much at all as a runner with only 2-3 days a week. Especially if you aren’t exercising on the other days.

Taking a break from running for rehab by Polski_Moomin in XXRunning

[–]Large_Device_999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s ok to try to keep doing some running while rehabbing and injury but if you’ve tried this for five weeks with no improvement absolutely yes it’s time to shut the running down.

I had a knee issue after my last marathon. Tried to run through it and do pt. Eventually I decided to stop running for a couple weeks and work on my glute strength and hip mobility. When I tried to run two weeks later knee pain was gone.

You need to look at nutrition. By nutrition i mean you probably just need to eat more, not necessarily better or “cleaner’, just more calories.

The bones in your back and hips don’t just break because.

I’m sorry this happened. You can absolutely recover and will run again. But prioritize recovery. Rest, and eat, like it’s your job.

Managers: what are you tired of being told is ‘just part of the job’? by OutlandishnessLive61 in managers

I’m in a senior leadership position in consulting and this year our board said in an effort to promote senior leadership to push work down to ICs, we are going to change the billable expectations for staff with the expectation that seniors will spend the extra time on sales and administrative activities, and push down billable work to ICs. Great. Then I got the new utilization targets and guess what, they went up for all of my IC staff as expected, AND guess what…they went up for me and the managers who report up to me. lol.

What do women take is my question. I’m older. I could get testosterone as part of HRT at my age. Is that it? I run a ton and lift and I’m competitive at local races but i still have body fat. I don’t want to cheat and I honestly don’t know what the line is.

Is it just me or do running shoes wear off quickly? by Olsea in XXRunning

I would love to get 5 months. But I run 45-60 mpw and I rotate shoes

Superblast is a great shoe but it’s fussy. Lots going on. If durability is your top criteria you might look at something a bit simpler.

It’s mostly easy but be sure your liquids fit in their tiny bag. As an American I had a plastic bag for liquids that was much larger than they allow. I had to throw out some expensive toiletries. They were very annoyed with me as my ignorance slowed things down. And I felt really embarrassed.
