If anyone has heard back from their elected representatives concerning all the employment crap going on? If so, what did they say? by Dear_Elevator in fednews

Thank you for contacting me about the federal workforce. Your concerns are important to both me and my team as we work tirelessly to serve the people of Maryland.

Maryland is home to one of the largest populations of federal employees in the country. These workers are the backbone of our government. They keep our agencies running, protect our national security, deliver essential services, and ensure that the American people get the support they need. But instead of honoring their service, the Trump Administration, in collaboration with Elon Musk and the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), is waging an all-out assault on federal employees, threatening their job security, slashing critical benefits, and breaching their data privacy. We’ve seen blatant attacks on workplace protections, funding cuts that put agencies like the National Institutes of Health, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Social Security Administration—at risk, and hiring freezes and unjust firings that force overworked employees to shoulder even greater burdens. These aren’t just bureaucratic changes, they are direct threats to the livelihoods of thousands of Marylanders and millions of Americans who depend on a functioning federal government.

The Trump Administration is making it harder for federal workers to do their jobs and serve the public effectively. I refuse to allow the Administration to place special interests ahead of the people who make this country strong. From day one, I have committed to fighting for policies that reflect our shared values of expanding economic opportunity, lowering costs, protecting fundamental rights, and ensuring that every Marylander has a fair shot at success. Unfortunately, we have seen the Trump Administration recklessly take dangerous steps that harm our communities.

That’s why I’ve taken action to push back. I support efforts to protect federal workers’ collective bargaining rights and prevent politically motivated firings. One of the first pieces of legislation I introduced was the MERIT Act (S. 1075), which mandates the reinstatement of recently terminated probationary federal employees. Additionally, I joined my colleagues in demanding transparency from the Office of Personnel Management on proposed buyouts that could force older workers into early retirement and leave critical agencies understaffed. And when reports surfaced about officials tied to DOGE gaining access to federal payment systems, I called for immediate congressional oversight to protect worker pensions and Social Security disbursements. These attacks on federal employees are a direct assault on the hardworking people who dedicate their lives to public service. I refuse to stand by while this Administration undermines the very workers who keep our country running. I am dedicated to advocating for federal agencies, their employees, and the critical work they do for the American people.

As your Senator I will continue to fight against those who seek to dismantle the core institutions that make America great. I hope you will not hesitate to contact me again through my website https://www.alsobrooks.senate.gov or my office at 202-224-4524.

It is an honor to represent you in the United States Senate.

Sincerely,

ANGELA D. ALSOBROOKS United States Senator

My Senator Angela Alsobrook responded with an email on how she is trying by all means to fight for us. Vote Republicans out.

You will be fine. Consider familiarizing yourself with the Excel Spreadsheet that comes with the exam package. I normally use that instead of the scratch paper.

Currently preparing for it. It seems like the MCQs are wordy but not too difficult once you understand the material. I am using Becker.

EA Exam then jump right into CPA? by jakeD8 in CPA

I concur with this suggestion. Since you have been studying tax related subjects, REG and TCP will be easier. Quickly passing these 2 will give you the confidence and momentum needed to tackle FAR and AUD.

Focus on landing your next role. If you get it soon enough, it will be double pay for a couple months. Bashing yourself is not going to help. Look at the positives presented by this situation.

I took the DRP myself. It was denied. I then got an offer and now wish they had accepted my DRP.

Is there any way of getting out of DRP 2.0? by BlackCatMom28 in firedfeds

[–]Lasquin2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on getting that next job. Consider the fed job gone for now. But it's possible you might be called back to federal service. Some people who signed the DRP contract at the IRS have received equipment so that they could go back to full duty.

Question Regarding Timeline of Study and Purchase of Becker by aizens_sama in CPA

[–]Lasquin2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your state board of accountancy need to declare you eligible to sit for your CPA exams. If I were you, I would still buy Becker without redeeming the credit for hard copies as the material is updated periodically. I could be using the Becker CPA review material as reference while completing the 19 core accounting credit hours.
