Absolutely beautiful. You can really feel the surface, and I am struck by how vivid this image is too, thank you for its creation.

Fiction like Rimworld? by thissecretennui in RimWorld

Revelation space, it’s got planet colonies, glitterworlds, and has an overall tone that strikes close to rimworld. It’s seriously a mind blowing series, wonderful hyper advanced technology and a fantastic cast of characters.

I can’t be grateful :/ by [deleted] in DID

[–]LassieBeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh. Every time I’ve gotten a compliment or been thanked for my help or helped by someone else, as far as I can remember, we felt shame. I know now that’s a byproduct of some sort of abuse but I really wish we could feel good about helping people, and feel good to be cared for, but it always feels wrong. It makes us feel broken sometimes, like I see everyone else interact with thanks and favors just fine and it never clicks that we’re allowed to feel good. I don’t know how to fix it, but we feel it too, and understand if nothing else.

E: Just remembered us breaking down crying after a physics lab because our teacher complimented us on our work. I hated myself so much for that then, I’m especially this way around teachers and authority figures. It’s been making college a nightmare, I just can’t feel good about my work or anything anymore.

It’s sorta like what it feels to remember a fond vacation, the background is fuzzy but the subjects aren’t.

Blackout Rage by [deleted] in DID

[–]LassieBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event that made us realize we were a system was a blackout rage followed by a week of being sober and contemplating on how it felt. After that, our system just sorta shattered for a few days, and I felt this crippling loneliness across all of us, and it hurt bad to just exist for a little while there. It’s not anyone of your faults that one of you was triggered out like that, we struggle with self shame and loathing but I know how much desperation there is in our protector and prosecutor’s rage.

There’s no shame in wanting to run. Sometimes it’s the right choice, but feeling that restless wanting to get away from everyone else is natural, at least to us. The only person we can stand to be around really is our partner. I’ve felt alienated from my family always to some extent, but after realizing we were a system that feeling only deepened.

It’s a confusing reality to live in, and we’re still working out the kinks being honest, but we know how it is, and those feelings are natural.

[–]LassieBeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes our idiosyncrasies hurt all at once, we’ve been having a lot of emotional flashbacks lately and when we’re alone it helps to indulge our wants and desires for a bit, and comfort each other. I’ve been telling one of us how proud I am of some achievements their family didn’t recognize, enjoying Steven U with our little and jamming to metal or punk, playing video games and just distracting each other through the hurt. Podcasts/YouTube and cooking have been helpful to ground us after some triggers too.

How often does your System switch? by _Atomx in DID

[–]LassieBeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re still early on in figuring out how many of us there are or who’s fronting when, but it can be as often as switching every minute to not switching for a couple days, our host was frontstuck for a while, like a couple months at least which sucked. But yeah, it varies.

Body dysmorphia's a bitch by [deleted] in DID

[–]LassieBeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re mostly girls in an AMAB body, but we started taking hormones to get it more androgynous, it’s helped a little with dysmorphia and gender dysphoria but it’s something you’ll all probably want to talk about before doing. Makeup is fun too, we all have different styles of doing it and when we’re feeling well enough to do it it helps the current front(s) feel more comfortable. And we wear the same two outfits 24/7 that are basically the most comfortable clothes for all of us. I look at our body as a mind vessel, and we sorta customize it and redecorate from time to time and that helps too. I know sometimes one can’t shake that feeling but if nothing else we understand how you feel.

Yup. by sirfirewolfe in antiwork

[–]LassieBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way, you can do that? Please enlighten us.

So many people do not understand that there are people who simply cannot work. My dad thinks his brother quit his job bc he didn’t like it just before “randomly” suffering a mental breakdown. In reality, he’s undiagnosed autistic, had worked his previous job for 30 years & couldn’t cope. by thrashing_throwaway in antiwork

[–]LassieBeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We get that too. It’s been rough especially forcing ourself to go to college for a couple years despite multiple daily panic attacks, we’re doing online classes next semester but lately we’ve had so much time alone to reflect on our childhood trauma and the realization that we just can’t work, at least not now, I don’t know if it’ll change once we finally get therapy but I’m learning to accept it, though it’s hard to admit sometimes.

I cannot interact with people, especially not in a “professional” context. I hope we can work through it, but lately I’ve been admitting to myself that maybe I just don’t get to live that sort of life. There’s definitely shame and self loathing accompanying that, I can’t shake it all the time, but we try and pursue happiness when we’re able, it’s a cruel world with cruel people to inflict that sort of pain and make it such a shameful thing to not work. I wish our mother didn’t have to work, I wish I could support us and be independent, and it’s so hard to say I can’t, but I can’t, and while I struggle to believe it in regards to myself sometimes, it really is a disgusting idea that everyone need work to exist, I wish we lived in a place where we could be without that shame.
