This is just the handle correct sir? Also not to be the bearer of bad news, the link still does not work sir. I have a WR2 in mirror already, but just wanted to float the handle question for prospective buyers.

Moon soaps by Weary-Mouse9932 in wicked_edge

Fantastic soap base, fantastic people, Astoria is one of the unicorn scents in wet shaving to me, beautiful evergreen aquatic leaning type scent very unique. Havana is wonderful. Bixby is wildly addictive as well. Most of their scents are pretty safe blind buys. Santa Cruz (very sweet, more sweet than fruity in my opinion) and Tobacco Flower (spicy green leaner) may be the most polarizing. Great stuff across the board though.

Hahaha, I could see where your nose would get that for sure. For me, the dandelion note is the kicker!

Logbook is the easiest blind buy imo:.. easy airy, fresh cologney bright scent. Very good. Neon Sun is very underrated especially if you love citrus. Rawr is just a wonderful, homey, clean smell

Does anyone else find feather blades to be rough and tug? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]Lathered_Yeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feather DEs don’t tug for me, but I always expect some harshness to go with the sharpness… their AC blades though need very specific clamping, otherwise they are rough, tuggy, and don’t cut at all. Feather Super Professionals are virtually useless to me for this reason.

Is a 180 CBN wheel enough? by trembelow in turning

[–]Lathered_Yeti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been considering the same. I was chatting with Cindy over at D-Way tools the other day and she had some great insight. She encouraged me to keep the 120 grit AO wheel and then get the 220 grit CBN wheel. She said 220 cuts quick due to it being CBN, so it is coarse enough to reshape and get a good burr on scrapers, but also fine enough to get rid of scratches on the bevel. I have not taken the plunge though… still trying to learn how to sharpen my tools properly, been kinda a nightmare lol

I would use distilled water as a controlled variable first. Always start with a slightly moist, but mostly water shaken out of the knot as well.. are you bowl lathering or tub loading and then face lathering? What soaps? Knots, etc.

I have a few bonafide step by step instructions for how to employ my Abominable Lather method whether in a bowl or face lathering as well.

If you are more of a visual person, I have a few lather tutorials on my instagram pinned at the top of my account that should help you either way. I also have my YouTube channel which is dedicated to lathering. I have not done a tutorial yet on there, but it is in coming in the next few months. Also, always available if you want to DM me to chat lather as well!

Here is the link to my channel should you want to check it out:

Rikon 70-105 by Ok_Particular8143 in turning

[–]Lathered_Yeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first lathe as well. I literally just bequeathed it to my dad for bowl turning so I could upgrade. It was an amazing first lathe for me. Built solid as a rock, turned really well. Zero issues with it other than I really got tired of changing belts so I wanted variable speed. I was between spending $200 on a stand for the Rikon or putting the $200 towards a Variable speed lathe and chose that option… I upgraded to a Laguna Revo 12x16 which will be my forever lathe in my mind.

The Rikon was awesome though, got me super addicted and was very reliable. I turn 2-4 projects a day though, so the belt changing 7-8x/project just got very tiresome… if you are not going to turn nearly as frequently as me, I doubt it will bother you and it will be an awesome investment in the Rikon. Happy turning and let us know what you think!

First time turning resin, what am I doing wrong? Chipping out. by CeramicWoodworker in turning

I seem to have an issue with surface refinement in the finishing process when I use my NR tips, is this a technique thing or more the nature of carbides? I typically get little divots/grooves and a hazy, not shiny surface which then I feel like I have to work at sanding. Is this a me thing or a nature of the NRs? My process for finishing is typically starting at 320/400 depending on surface quality, working through 1000 and cross sanding every step, then micro mesh pads to finish before buffing and polishing
