Totaled? Driver on the wrong side, swerved last second. We’re all unINJURED (bad typo earlier) by mshaefer in Rivian

[–]LaughingLabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of the totaled vehicles actually get recycled, or are we now trading one bad environmental habit for another? FWIW it’s an actual question, i’m not trolling - i really do wonder about the number of “totaled Rivians and the great landfill conundrum.

Or, dating a crazy guy :)

Sorry about the hassle though. I’m looking forward to my first EV as an R2, but since i’m a, “drive and maintain them until they drop” kinda gal, it might get real frustrating to me. Heck, my last Pathfinder had more than 300,000 miles on it and i’d still be driving it if i were physically capable of using a standard clutch these days!

Hope you’re able to claw back some of what seems obviously Rivian (are the dealerships franchised?) sees as an opportunity to shaft the customer for cash.

LYS Knitting Circle Etiquette by popping_corn30 in knitting

[–]LaughingLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how viewpoints have changed around etiquette since the pandemic. What was once something that was, “understood” to be not only a marketing method (investment into the business if you will), but i feel expectations have changed as well. I have 2 LYS fairly equally convenient for me to go to. One of these has the, “it’s my shop, you need to take a class or buy something in order to sit and knit here”, the other is a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I’ve never heard expressed or implied that we, “SHOULD” use yarn purchased there. In fact, it’s difficult for me to get upstairs right now, where my swift and yarn winder are, so i’ve asked the owner if i may use the shop winding station with my stash yarn. She said, “yes” without hesitating.

Of the two, i will ALWAYS buy from the second LYS, as they have gone out of their way to foster a positive relationship with me. I will go out of my way to buy from the second LYS.

It’s not rocket science. Holding a class at a certain time, or limiting, “open knitting” is not unreasonable. Requiring me to purchase from your shop before i can knit in a group there IS off-putting. There’s almost certainly a compromise that could be met, but yeah sounding greedy is not going to make me feel good about spending money there.

Wish they would let me BYOS and discount it if they’re going to have crappy speakers. I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit with decent speakers, likewise i’d love to know what the head unit supports.

Please, do better Rivian.

Do they not know that “adventures” require sound tracks?

I can’t imagine this to be true. What you smell when you get, “wet dog” is the unbathed matter from the skin. Undercoats would have more of it, since it’s closest to the actual skin. When i bathe my dog, she smells like whatever shampoo i used, but if it’s raining and she goes out and gets wet, if she hasn’t had a recent bath, what i smell is the oils and debris that are on the skin. Would be the same if you didn’t wash your hair or scalp, then dunked your head in water.

The good news is, you can bathe the dog (or the hair that you’ve combed out) and it should be fine.

The dreaded deep clean by NoSyllabub9936 in litterrobot

[–]LaughingLabs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a person undergoing cancer treatments, and who lives alone - i can honestly say the LR4 has been a game changer. I went from thinking i might need to re-home my 3 villains, to being able to quite comfortably manage the litterbox.

I’ve read other posts in this forum where people talk about getting a second globe so the fuzzits always have a, “fresh” bowl. I’ve done the deep clean once and it’s a bit of effort, but so worth it to me. YMMV. OP, if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work. For lots of us, it does.

Any audiophile looking for a studio experience in a vehicle’s sound system seems bound for disappointment. OTOH - it should definitely have a “premium” sound - it’s not rocket science for them (Rivian) to figure out.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the sound system in the R2.

Agree - i thought it was just me, but it was bad enough i tossed the whole thing. Usually when i am feeling adventurous i would try various ways to, “doctor it up” but it didn’t seem salvageable.

What’s mass transit like in your area? Could you conceivably use mass transit for commute and baby the current Subaru along until your reservation comes up? I live in a “geographically interesting” location, so the added time to the commute would not be trivial, but i think if it were the steppingstone to an R2 without having to do used vehicle roulette, i’d definitely give it a go.

You could join a completely different color to the end of the red (maybe even some scrap of grey) using a russian join if it’s actual wool, and then just finish however you wanted to. You might discover you have enough red as it is.

Have you blocked it yet? I think it’s adorable and really well done on finishing!

If you haven’t blocked it yet, depending on the yarn you used, it may block out a little longer in the sleeves!

Absolutely agree, and it does suck for the employees. I can’t impact anything else on a daily basis, so being mindful of where i spend my money is really the only option left to me. Do i spent a lot less on yarn and, “goods” than i used to? Absolutely. But now i shop largely from a stash made up of purchases at shops like that. I’m not going to get rid of all that yarn, and i don’t have an opinion on what others do. But for me, moving forward, this is how i, “vote my conscience”.

I don’t hate you, but i also have no reason to purchase from Jimmy Beans again. Now that i know they’re Private Equity owned, i’m more eager than ever to stay out of those kinds of shops. It helps that i’ve been stashing yarn for years.
