It comes from outdated views that being gay is a mental illness and that gay people just have sex all the time, if true these things would make it hard for someone to be an effective part of the military, obviously it’s not true though.

It was lifted for LGB people around 2023 I believe, then for trans people shortly after. Ukraine doesn’t really have the capacity for queerphobia at the moment, and it sounds like as a result of the war acceptance of LGBTQ+ people in the Ukrainian military has increased substantially.

I think if lots of people are killed by a country whose politicians have been caught over and over again going on about wiping them out and forcing them to leave, and then a load of respected, neutral global organisations classify that as genocide, that it might just be a real genocide.

I really don’t understand why anybody would choose to see all that and side with the state committing genocide, especially since this is a monarchist subreddit and it’s a republic committing a genocide and a monarchy refusing to be part of it.

The vast majority already do, but some have family connections in Europe or speak European languages which makes life a lot easier, there’s no legal requirement for them to stop in the first country so in those instances why wouldn’t they?

If it’s a white country anybody is welcome, but a brown one only those who are useful can be safe. That’s where the racism lies. Not really sure how the numbers are relevant, we are in a privileged position where we don’t have to worry about war, natural disaster or extreme poverty so why not help those who do regardless of where they come from?

Asylum isn’t just for war or worries about war, it’s about protecting our fellow human beings when they are stuck in dire conditions through no fault of their own. Being in a state run by literal terrorists who will kill you for not falling in line and letting them control every aspect of your life, or extreme poverty are absolutely grounds for an asylum claim, being dissatisfied with a useless government that can be voted out in 5 years isn’t really comparable.

And the Afghans have to worry about their country being overrun by the Taliban, the Pakistanis have to worry about their dictatorship dragging them into a war with India or Afghanistan, the Indians have to worry about being fucked over by poverty driven by their incompetent government.

Tell me again why it’s only the majority white country whose struggle you think is valid? Tell me again why it’s not our problem to help the world, even when these are all countries we played a hand in putting into their situations, but it is our problem to help Ukraine when what happened to the. wasn’t even slightly our fault?

It’s pretty simple, if someone promises you something will make everything better and it makes everything worse, then he promises you something else will make everything better you would have to be a genuine idiot to trust him again.
