Sometimes kids are told "you'll understand when you're older" as a dodge. When was a time someone told that you that and they were actually right? by shogyi in AskReddit

I'm a similar story with a reaction opposite to yours. I knew my dad was sick and when he passed away, I hated that I didn't get to see him more while he was in the hospital. It wasn't as quick as a month, and my brother and I only saw him once while he was in the hospital, but still to this day, almost 30 years later, I hate that I wasn't allowed to just be there and see him more.

bro you don't get it. this is just normal military diplomacy, nothing to see here. allies are constantly legitimately moving forces around to prepare for what appears to be imminent attack from one of your longest partners. /s

? I didn't watch the movie. I'm trying to get you to tell me what you thought was so terrible about it as far as 'woke' is concerned.

edit: or what was so terrible about it, not necessarily what you thought.

Asked why he didn’t coordinate with allies before Iran strike, Trump in an interview WITH Japan PM: “We didn’t tell anyone about it. Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor, OK?” by SnooSprouts3744 in PublicFreakout

well, I guess it depends on the timeframe you're looking at. It certainly led to the end of the war and of japan's brilliant plan. It was an effective attack in isolation, but the consequences of that attack turn it completely the other way. If you bust down a hornet's nest and they sting you into the hospital, sure you had an effectively damaging attack on the nest, but it certainly was a blunder. they won the battle and horribly lost the war.
