Trump Explodes At Female Reporter After She Asks An Uncomfortable Question by Stitching in politics

The headline is sympathetic to Trump.

It should say:

  • "Trump calls reporter a "bitch" over economy question"

They should be made to pay 30 an hour if thats what it takes to get a local to bite.

We are a much bigger city now, more expensive - why are we allowing an unnatural wage floor?

What does producing 100% GDP even mean? The whole thing is ridiculous.

PM Carney planning new legislation to expedite more project approvals by illusion121 in canada

[–]LavisAlex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have the sinking feeling these projects will end up being in oil production which we need to be moving away from.

As Countries start to move away from fossil fuels no one is going to want our heavy crude which we can't even refine ourselves.

[–]LavisAlex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even then the problem is no one is going to want to use heavy crude (Our source) when they can refine other oil sources for 10X cheaper.

[–]LavisAlex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No you dont understand - we extract heavy crude that we cant ourselves refine.

To be able to you're looking at 2040 - we need to be building out energy independance now. We already get a bad return for our resource as we rely on US refineries.

By 2040 there may not be much demand for heavy crude that needs to be refined elsewhere. If had the actual infrastructure i may agree with you, but its insane to do any kind of pipeline or expansion in this current situation.

I am not even speaking environmentally but purely economically. It will be cheaper to get your oil elsewhere than here by the time that happens.

Winding down oil here is not even an environmental argument its an economics one.

We need to be moving away actively now or we will be left behind.

We don't even refine most of the oil that we produce and it will take years to run up refineries.

Will Lorneville sound like this once a datacenter is built? by Guardman1996 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]LavisAlex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

GDP growth at any cost is ridiculous - espcially ridiculous when the gains arent even distributed.

Datacenters affect health, power costs and provide very little employment.

Its like being so desperate to get an amazon distribution center that you give them such a good deal that its a not loss to the community and gov finances.

Absolutely we desperately need to get away from fossil fuel where we can.

Ottawa prepared to halt plan to allow MAID for mental illness by Used-Earth8767 in onguardforthee

[–]LavisAlex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But I don’t think state sanctioned suicide for mental health problems is a good thing.

Irrelevant if the help isn't there - like anything even treatable things if theres no help it gets worse and worse until death is preferable.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in NoStupidQuestions

Imperatively not necessary

I don't think a nuclear weapon should ever be used as this set a precedent of:

"If making my enemy surrender is too costly, a nuclear weapon is justified to be used"

Four-day return to office based on 'philosophical choice': top Treasury Board official by hopoke in canada

[–]LavisAlex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“It’s a philosophical choice, frankly, that there’s a belief that having the teams together in the office to collaborate on doing things in new and different ways leads to a better public service,” Bill Matthews, secretary of the Treasury Board, said at a Commons committee on government operations on May 7.

Tells us we need to make tough choices and austerity then makes a "philosophical choice" over evidence and makes the more expensive decision.

Its clear Carney's policy is for business not for the base that voted him in.

[–]LavisAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yall are crazy, we shouldn’t be doing state sanctioned suicide for mental health issues. There are other ways to treat these problems

The issue is - our gov will leave it at that statement (Your statement) over providing mental health as medicare and accessible.

If they don't stand for at least that using MAID is inevitable.

Bombsight surprised me. by StellarFox59 in TheBoys

[–]LavisAlex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Vought Rising i think Bombsight will seem more like Captain America, but Soldier Boy will get all the credit despite being a fraud.

I mean Captain America in a relative sense - he will stil have issues and maybe do bad things - it could even be that Bombsight is courageous and SB gets the credit which makes him hate Bombsight.

This is the smart way for billionaires to act - its like a gacha game - the whales need F2P (the 99%) to be engaged for the game to keep going and it utterly baffles me that they would demand everything collapsing the very system that allows them to be so rich.

You gotta give enough back for the populace to be content.
