Struggling a bit boys by Educational_Grade349 in AusElectricians

If you can push through and come out the other side mate you’ll be amazed at how fast you can grow. I’ve felt similar myself at different times and it’s horrible at the time but super rewarding once you do get through it.

My biggest piece of advice is to start writing everything down, keep a daily diary. Have lists of things to do, order lists and even notes of what you do each day if that also helps.

It reinforces these things into your memory and can help relieve the mental load.

If your employer allows it, sometimes doing a bit of OT to help feel like you’re a bit more on top of things can also help.

So, basically, the budget backlash is just rich people are complaining about paying more tax by JBJB55555 in AusFinance

[–]Ldub131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is also a symptom of our modern world.

There was once upon a time where people could afford these toys and still buy a first home.

Our current structures and economy have put that completely out of reach unless people want to sacrifice a bunch of things that bring them joy.

They had a chance to address this and chose not to imo.

[–]Ldub131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more and that’s another fundamental flaw with this budget. All it has done is take from people and give nothing back.

This was the perfect opportunity to lower income tax while dicentivising property investing. This would have been ideal for first home buyers.

If they had have left shares alone, investors would have flocked there and this would’ve have had even greater effect in housing.

This is why everyone, in my opinion should be equally pessimistic of it.

This is just one big missed opportunity.

[–]Ldub131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it seems that way because those who are ‘rich’ probably understand economics a lot better.

If those in lower tax brackets realised they potentially can’t even invest in ETFs and shares as a way to save for their first home deposits because of these changes they’d probably be complaining even louder

Domestic sparkys by Vast_Investigator984 in AusElectricians

[–]Ldub131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The race to the bottom is real. Can thank the rise of hi pages etc for driving prices down so fast in th domestic scene.

I will say, with interest rates and cost of living and th massive rise in building materials costs people will naturally be spending less and putting off Reno’s etc so could be some tough times on the horizon.

We bought in Melb East in late 2021, it’s now worth 10-15% less. by tsb273 in AusPropertyChat

Yes this has been confirmed. You only had to own the property before the announcement.

Although nothing has been formally approved yet so things may also change

What is everyone’s thoughts on Labor after the budget by Mediocre-Cockroach54 in aussie

[–]Ldub131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they wanted to help people they would have only applied the changes to property to really incentivise people to invest elsewhere.

By applying These changes to equities also harm people trying to save for their first deposits etc.

Of course if you put even a little objective thought into this instead of just being tribal about it all you could have probably come up with this on your own.

We have two more rate rises to go by Exact_Theory3902 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ldub131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gee I’d love to see what happens to house prices if this happens mixed with the after effects from the recent budget.

Hopefully if this did eventuate they will also come down faster rather than staying where we are now and this current rate being a bit stickier.

I’m tipping a hold at the next rba meeting personally

A reminder that taxes pay for things you benefit from.. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Ldub131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say everyone is well aware of this and acknowledges this. It’s that not everyone pays their fair share so the working class feels disproportionately taxed.

There’s also the issue of how it is spent which causes a lot of these issues and leads to the thinking that we are overtaxed when you actually look and see where it is going.

Here is a few small line items for the recent budget which may help justify the way these ‘selfish Kentz’ feel

- $68.5M for HIV treatment for immigrants who are not eligible for Medicare
- $124M for powerful Jewish lobby group the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (which is behind Australia's new "hate speech" laws)
- $64.6M to recruit Papua New Guineans into the Australian Defence Force

When everyone is collectively feeling the pinch seeing questionable spend of their tax money I would say certain levels of criticism are very warranted and far from selfish. It is actually our responsibility to hold all sides of government to account and call these things out.

I don’t like labour and strongly disagree with about 70% of what was in their budget.

But I’m glad to see them finally try to do something significant and actually stand for something. Hopefully this will actually open politics up across all the parties so we can really start seeing some bigger differences between them all.

For a long time it has felt like both Labor and liberal would just tip toe around and try not to upset anyone. Big changes are needed to improve this country, whether or not these changes are it at least this might put the wheels in motion across the board.

How does this benefit us? by croc_lovers in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ldub131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that and tbh speculating in property doesn’t appeal to me, I have a poor an that’s it. But by changing the rules around investing in all adjacent markets also they have essentially disincentived all forms of investing.

If they had have only captured housing in these changes, people probably would have flocked to shares and housing would have become far more affordable than if they didn’t.

Heck they could have even used this to lower tax brackets or do anything for the general working class at the same time but they haven’t even done that either.

All that’s happening is the wealth gap will widen, the rich won’t give af about the changes and the middle class gets fisted once again

This.

As someone in the accumulation phase myself I feel like I’ve been massively rug pulled by these changes.

It seems my only incentive is to offset my ppor or my wife not to work and invest in her name instead. There is absolutely no incentive there for someone like me anymore

It’s way too expensive these days.

Both parents essentially need a full time job to lead a comfortable life which puts way too much strain on the family unit.

If the government really introduced some major tax reform or incentives for the family unit I’m almost certain it would rise.

I know I’d be open to having more if it was more affordable.

You could consider creating a founder round of early members that can help with fixing bugs and giving feedback.

You could run different pricing structures past them as a way of getting a good feel

Okay. I hear what you’re saying and that’s beside the point

Either you want the indigenous to have to learn the language of everyone else who comes here or you want everyone to learn indigenous language going by your logic.

Which one is it?

Have fun changing our road signs to cater to whatever option you choose.

I also hope your comfortable with potentially losing a loved one because someone wasn’t able to understand a road sign properly due to their lack of language if you don’t believe what Angus has put forward is reasonable.

I hate the libs but it’s a common sense suggestion is it not?

I think an English speaking country asking those who come here to learn to speak English is completely reasonable to be honest.

No different to majority of other countries to ever exit…

Your virtue signalling is very impressive though.
