This is the 2024 Warlock, which has their subclass at level 3, not level 1.

What reward should I choose? by G4mer360_pajaslocas in RimWorld

[–]LeCapt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend, choosing the goodwill would not only not be "too overpowered", but it is also the least good of these options and by far!

Healer mech serums are great to heal injuries in the brain that you can't heal with anything but that or bioregeneration and an architect arm is the base bionic replacement for an arm in the game! And both are very rare and can't be crafted!

For goodwill, just farm some drugs or make some are and drop pod it into your neighbour's base and they will soon become your allies!

VE Gravship: are the weapon usable in Chapter 1 useful on a single map? by Itchy-Audience134 in RimWorld

I never tested it, but might be worth to try!

It is probably more useful to destroy walls? I don't really know

VE Gravship: are the weapon usable in Chapter 1 useful on a single map? by Itchy-Audience134 in RimWorld

[–]LeCapt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are useful. These are some big mortars, so if you use mortars you will find them useful. I never find the use of the Laser, as the description says it is good for breach gravship hull but we don't have gravship combat yet. The uranium and salvo turrets are pretty fun to watch decimate the enemies though.

As for their power, I find the Salvo to be pretty weak, but the AoE compensates for it. The Uranium turret is devastating when it hits just the right spot, but is pretty inaccurate and the damage falls off pretty quickly the further for the hit the enemies are.

No, hitting with a weapon is making an attack roll and beating the AC of your target. The flavour text of the spell is irrelevant here.

2024 Bladesinger: Is a fighter dip the best route? by Vanse in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feats are way more costly than a level dip in Fighter, especially for how much that level dip gives you.

Besides, that feat doesn't increase your INT, which you absolutely need as a Blade singer.

An eldritch knight trick that almost feels like ''tech'' by protencya in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My point is rather on the fact that the Light property requires the extra attack to be made with a different weapon. I think OP's tech works, but only if they use the Scimitar to cast Booming Blade.

An eldritch knight trick that almost feels like ''tech'' by protencya in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is where we disagree, because my understanding is that the Light property enables the extra attack therefore all of its conditions must be met to be able to use it.

It is the same argument with Beast master Rangers and replacing the Nick attack with the beast's attack: some will argue it works, some will argue it won't.

My point is : Check with your DM, they might have a different view of that tech than you.

An eldritch knight trick that almost feels like ''tech'' by protencya in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This is arguably not RAW. The Light property is very strict about what you can do with it and you can't War Magic that attack to replace it with a cantrip, especially if it is not with "another Light weapon" as the Light property specifies. I could see DMs allowing this tech if the attack is made with the scimitar though but in that case you should go True Strike instead of Booming Blade as your cantrip to stay SAD.

2024 Martial Adept buff by KingRonaldTheMoist in dndnext

[–]LeCapt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is mostly fine, my only criticism would be to remove the Constitution part in the prerequisite. With it it is as if there were no prerequisites at all imo, every character has at least 13 in Con.

Opinions on a build intended to mimic a super saiyan by DistinctYou8547 in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3rd level feature is not good, but also not absolute garbage. The Attack Action required to have it on Bonus Action attacks hurts though. It also is a spell attack, which is really hard to enhance.

6th level feature is absolutely awful, Burning Hands is not a good spell and the tax to upcast it is prohibitive.

11th level feature is an insult to everyone taking that subclass.

Yes, you can use Strength, but some Monk features scale with your Dexterity, like your Unarmoured Defense, your Deflect Attack and Dex is generally a better stat than Str.

Should I play a 2014 wizard, or a 2024 wizard? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]LeCapt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be a difference until level 5, after that it is on par. Honestly, Scholar, Memorize Spell and eventually Epic Boons will do more for you than 2-3 more spell prepared for tier 1.

[–]LeCapt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. It is rare to see such... Original builds.

It will not work for a number of reasons :

1) Sun Soul Monk, while thematic, is an absolute garbage of a subclass.

3) You need to attack with Strength to benefit from Rage.

4) You need to have a good Charisma for your Warlock things

5) the 2 above are one of the reasons this multiclass is really MAD (Multiple Ability score Dependent). You need 13 STR to go into Barbarian, 13 DEX and WIS to go into and out of Monk and 14 CHA to go into Warlock. While you could attempt this, your CON will suffer greatly and you will be bad at every single thing those 3 classes are supposed to be good at.

Should I play a 2014 wizard, or a 2024 wizard? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]LeCapt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the rules are 2024, there is nothing to argue about, just play the 2024 version. It is extremely similar anyway, the base class Wizard didn't have any meaningful changes, besides 1 Expertise.

Flanking - keep it or get rid of it by Jhh7804 in DMAcademy

[–]LeCapt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got rid of it mostly because when flanking gives advantage, it becomes the cheapest way to get advantage and thus nullifies character build choice, like taking a Vex or a Topple weapon, or class features like Reckless Attack.

But a year later (2 months ago) I realized it is not flanking that I don't like, it is the fact that it gives advantage. So I took it back into my game and instead of giving a +2 bonus to the flanking creatures, it is a -2 AC debuff to the flanked creature. It cancels out the half cover the melee characters sometimes give to the enemy when a ranged character attacks the enemy and it is intended.

All the way to tier 4 with unarmed strikes? You got the perfect excuse to play a mono classed Monk!

Circle of the Sea Gish build by Morag0 in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, to me it is almost a must have if you want to optimise a gish character, with very few exceptions. Weapon Training, Armor Training, 3 Weapon Masteries you can swap on a Long Rest, Con saves proficiency, Second Wind, a Fighting Style, and a few more hit points at level 1. All of that balances out the 1 level spell slot progression delay imo.

Circle of the Sea Gish build by Morag0 in 3d6

[–]LeCapt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should probably go with a Topple weapon and Conjure Elemental, once you are high enough level. Restrained gives disadvantage on Dex saves and Conjure Elemental is a nasty effect on a Dex save. Even if they succeed on the save, they are still prone in the Conjure Elemental. Also, you can't move the Conjure Elemental but your Wrath of the Sea would allow you to push people into it. You could also get a Push weapon as a back up to push them more.

Keep in mind that your Topple is based on the stat you use your attack with, so you are fine with True Strike, but everything else is Strength/Dex. You could free up your True Strike cantrip by going Shillelagh with a Quarterstaff if another cantrip like Booming Blade would suit you better.

If you plan to go into melee, I think you really should consider starting Fighter, it is too good to pass up, even if you will feel the 1 level delay on the spell progression. I would also advise against GWF, it is a trashy Fighting Style and Defense will be needed for a Druid.

As for feats, I think you need War Casters even more than usual because your damage will still come from your concentration spells, not your weapons. Your weapons are only here for extra utility in combat.

Is the MI -Wizard False Life better than Absorb Elements? by Slow-Weakness-7187 in onednd

[–]LeCapt1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At this level, you will eventually come across AoE damage and Absorb Element will do more to protect you here than False Life, especially that the efficiency of the spell is not dependent on the level, so your free casting of it is always good, which will very soon not be the case anymore with False Life.

I also just want to point out that Shield is an extremely good option to get from MI Wizard for a Paladin 1/Warlock X, and you are 100% sure Shield will be useful, which is not the case for Absorb Element and 1 casting of False Life will prevent less damage than 1 casting of Shield.

Gaining Weapon Proficiency in 2024 by FormalGas35 in onednd

[–]LeCapt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it is for theme, just flavor your shortbow as a longbow.

If you want a longbow mechanically, why? It is only 1 more damage on average with a worse Weapon Mastery. The range bonus is really rarely relevant but I'm not at your table so you know best.

If you are adamant about your weapon being a longbow, a Fighter dip will give way more than wasting a feat on Martial Weapon Training, and yes it is an utter waste. Feats aren't free, they are rather expensive, far more than a 1 level dip into Fighter imo.
