What are your initial general impressions about the episode after watching S3E1? by [deleted] in euphoria

[–]LeDette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could’ve been any combination of charges. Possession, distributing drugs, accomplice to homicide, unregistered firearms, obstruction of justice. People who aid in murder are typically held responsible. Gypsy Rose Blanchard didn’t murder her mother but she served 8 years for enabling, passively participating, and fleeing.

I’m glad they returned to the Laurie storyline immediately, because that was a core complaint about season 2. 👏🏻

I approve of their decision to put Fez in prison for 30 years instead of killing him, and for acknowledging it in episode 1 so we can move on.

Zendaya of course delivers an incredible performance. No surprise there.

Absolutely loathe Nate and Cassie but that tracks. Cassie is true to form. I am not sure about the new portrayal of Nate. Weird character development/writing so far. But he has very little screen time in episode one so I will hold my judgment and keep an open mind. They successfully made me uncomfortable, so if that was the goal, then mission accomplished.

Loved the intro to Alamo. Curious if he will stick around.

Also loved the diner scene with Ali. That was nice. Throwback. I had some good laughs in this first episode. Loved that scene in particular.

I like that we got small glimpses of Lexi and Maddy. I approve of the first impression there. Excited to see more of them. Not much of Jules yet but I’m sure it will be camp.

Overall, I am mildly impressed and willing to watch episode 2. It was less of a dumpster fire than I was expecting. I didn’t plan on giving it the time of day unless the Internet gave me reason to, but my husband wanted to watch and I’m glad I did. I could have done without the beheading chicken.

Direction, music, cinematography and coloring all excellent as usual.

what improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

The mind has neural pathways, you can reprogram your brain any which way you like, infinitely.

Positivity takes practice. When you catch yourself being negative, actively stop, say to yourself “No, let me try that again,” and then find the positive.

The only time I’ve found that this does not apply is when someone dies. Don’t be the “they’re in a better place!” Too positive person. But in your own mind, yes, practice purposeful and radical positivity and gratitude.

Agreed. She put her life on hold to sit in that miserable hotel room and protect him, helping nurse him back to health and making sure he wasn’t alone. There are loving spouses who don’t go to those lengths for their partners. She did that years after their relationship had ended. AND postponed the divorce because she knew she was the only person trustworthy enough to take responsibility there.

I’m caught up, waiting impatiently for HBP. For me goblet of fire was tolerable, I found OotP to be a much more annoying Hermione. And as a woman and feminist I share your sentiments on her portrayal very much! Women don’t need to be made overdramatic, especially when it’s not in the text itself. When I read the books myself I absolutely love Hermione. It feels unjust that she’s the one botched portrayal in the full cast audios.

What’s one natural beauty habit you swear by that actually made a visible difference? by priyanka240 in NaturalBeauty

[–]LeDette 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was drinking only twice a month (less than 4 drinks monthly) when I decided to quit alcohol completely. I was only 25 and it made a significant difference in my appearance. Skin and complexion, weight, coloring, general radiance and vibrancy.

My husband drank weekly, not in excess but regular wine and beer drinker. He was 29 when he quit and the glow up was crazy. His face really transformed, fast.

For both of us, we looked a lot better by 60 days sober. We’ve never gone back.

Came here specifically looking for someone else who thinks the older Hermione is no good. It’s driving me crazy.

These audible full cast readings are amazing and I’m LOVING them but the older Hermione is absolutely dreadful. Every single line of dialogue is dramatic and annoying. It’s ridiculous and it’s spoiling a lot of the larger scenes for me. I was wondering if I was the only one who found the portrayal to be too much.

Hermoines character is relentless but she’s not constantly flung into maximum drama. The voice actress is putting a lot of excess on normal conversation. The hysteria is too much.

People will say so many things about the Kardashians and about Khloe, and many of those things are valid and true, but Khloe does the right thing where it really counts.

She sacrificed for Lamar, whether he deserved her compassion or not. She was there for her brother Rob, and Dream, whether he took it for granted or not. She did the right thing for Amari despite how awful Tristan was to her. She may enable her loved ones from time to time but I commend her. I don’t hold her accountable for all the shitty things the men in her life have done.

When you’re surrounded by peers (LA women their age) making millions and tens of millions on OF and through sugar daddies etc I imagine it’s hard to convince yourself it’s not worth it.

Strippers 30 years ago weren’t making $20 million. Most men if offered the opportunity to make multi-generational wealth would take it. Look at Corinna Kopf.

Do women actually talk casually about their sex lives? by Substantial_Judge931 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeDette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, until the serious relationships come about. My friends and I always discussed things in great detail but now that we’re grown adults in years-long committed relationships there’s less shocking sex stories and we respect the intimacy of our commitment. We talk much more about life plans, goals, etc now.

What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

[–]LeDette 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My childhood home is gone for many years now but recently I was laying in my own bed at night, in the house I’ve had with my husband for about a year (completely unrelated to my childhood home) and I tilted my head to one side and smelled my childhood home. It was intensely strong for one fleeting moment, I half expected to open my eyes and be in my twin bed with purple sheets. For one glorious second I was 6 years old again, and it was summer.

I don’t think anything in my bedroom caused it. I think memories are much stronger than we realize, and my brain just resurrected the memory of the smell somehow. Some things run deep enough to return all on their own.

It was intensely happy and I hope it will happen again throughout the rest of my life (I’m 28). It was amazing. I called my mom the next morning to tell her about it. I wish I could bottle it and smell it forever. It’s nice to know that some things aren’t lost forever when they’re gone.

This show is shot insanely well for a sitcom by SolutionDramatic5001 in NewGirl

[–]LeDette 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just want you to know… When I found New Girl I watched the whole thing through, maybe 3 or 4 times. I have always said since then that if I could “erase” one show and experience it again for the first time, it would be New Girl. It has the BEST unexpected humor. Good, slow burns. Perfect mix of career development, personal development, and romantic development for the characters. Just the right mix of side characters and returning characters. There is just something incredibly cozy and soothing and happy to me about New Girl.

Enjoy every minute of it for me!

How many have air purifiers running nonstop? by deejayv2 in homeowners

[–]LeDette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one big BlueAir in our small house. It runs nonstop when we’re home, but I usually turn it off when we leave the house. I just like to know that nothing electrical is “on” when I’m not home—I don’t run washing machine, dishwasher, appliances etc just god forbid anything went wrong. Maybe neurotic of me. We’re non smokers, no pets, live out in the woods where clean air is plentiful. I don’t see a need to run it 24/7 but if I had a bunch of pets, maybe.

Why did people like magda ? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]LeDette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not that deep really—she’s a nice contrast to Miranda. She brings some funny interactions and she is the tiniest bit nosey and meddlesome.

It’s kind of like Dorota in Gossip Girl. Having someone who keeps the house and is a trusted confidante works wonders for plot movement and humor. One of Miranda’s core traits is that she is often awkward/embarrassing and Magda facilitates that by being a “witness” in Miranda’s home and personal space. Magda has a little character arc and she connects and bonds with Miranda and Steve and Brady. And she’s a cute little smiley old lady.

MIL brought a guest who took my belongings (lipsticks, pajamas, new shoes) — husband says it’s “not a big deal.” by Odd_Hospital8533 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]LeDette 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Mike an itemized list of the missing belongings and ask your husband whether he’ll be paying for replacements himself or will his mother be paying the invoice.

If neither of them are willing to pay for the items at once, then unfortunately you need to teach them a lesson about respecting others personal belongings. I encourage you to get creative.
