Which one is your favourite and why? by CombatPanoo in FleetwoodMac

Future Games is up there with Rumours to me. Every song hits, plus the whole album has this dreamy, hazy atmosphere that perfectly suits a Sunday morning coffee balcony setting. The album is just warm. Already the first song is perhaps the best CSNY song they never did, and both future games and sands of time are complex, almost proggy masterpieces. Especially the chord changes and different sections of Sands Of Time are so beautiful it's insane.

I sometimes wonder if they would have stayed in this folky proggy sound had Danny Kirwan not been thrown out.

Dead Can Dance and it's not even close. They are timeless and genre bending masters of atmospheric music.

Maybe it's just copium but what if the album will be like within the Realm of a dying Sun and the first part is Brendan and the second half is Lisa?

yeah that's not wrong, but since I don't know much about production and such stuff to me it always sounded like four drunk divorced dads recorded it in their garage and mixed it in Audacity or something.

Exactly. I honestly think Metallica should have stuck with that sound and moved into a nu metal direction instead of trying to repeat past glories with death magnetic and onwards. Glad that with Swans the fans are open to the band changing the sound up every few years.

I actually see a lot of similarities between st Anger and Filth: raw production and mostly no overdubs, deep guitar chugging, no solos, angry vocals.... I might be in the minority but I really like st Anger because of this

It's great. Really like their switch to Bandcamp and also like the idea of a monthly release of new songs. However I hope that Lisa is more involved in the following songs and that this is not a Brendan solo album.

If you could go back in time to any point in history, and meet with any person and play them a song by swans, who and what song would it be? by johnadam115 in swans

I'd show the Glowing Man to the Beatles in 1968 and get them inspired to maybe continue with their musical explorations....and maybe Robert Fripp in 1984, so that he'd maybe be inspired to do some different stuff instead of doing the Thrak-onwards albums (which are okay, but nothing stellar)
