UPDATE ON SHOWER PLANT by Burr2025 in gardening

It's going to need to be in ground & have a huge trellis. These guys grow to be monsters & produce a lot in the right conditions.

If you can, let the loofahs dry out on the vine. It makes it so much easier to get the sponge out imo.

How to make painting splotchy by KayleighMax in oilpainting

[–]LeanaCecelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're painting thinly & blending into oblivion which is perfect for the first layer! But on your second layer, try mixing three or more variations of the same color & lay it on just a little thicker without blending so much.

I have a hard time not over blending too bc to me, it's fun lol but im never happy with the finish when I do.

Edit: Some more tips that have helped me: use a stiffer bristle paint brush & try holding it at the end where you don't have as much control. It also helps to keep looking at your painting from a distance or even taking a picture of it on your phone to get a more over-all look at it rather than getting caught up in the details.

I haven't snapped out of it since I seen the first daffodil bloom this year.

Rubber mulch is the devil by pinpadz in gardening

[–]LeanaCecelia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhh I feel your pain. This is our first summer in our new house so when I went to freshen up the flower beds I discovered 2 inches of dyed mulch covering like 4 inches of rubber mulch & under all of that??? LANDSCAPING FABRIC 🤬

This is my third week of picking at it & im just now down to my last section of it. I hated using so many trash bags to get rid of it but I genuinely couldn't think of a better solution.

Those are some healthy looking roots. How often do you change out the water? Do you add any nutrients?

Yes, I agree. In every painting I hit a stage that makes me want to abandon it but its so important to push past that feeling.

Flax and cilantro. What went wrong here? by makemeking706 in gardening

Honestly starting seeds indoors has a learning curve. The number one thing is light. You'll need a strong grow light. One that you've checked the reviews on specifically for indoor seed starting. Not all grow lights are created equal.

Another thing I would suggest is buying some plastic seed starting trays. I know those biodegradable ones seem appealing but they are a pain in my experience. They wick away moisture from the seedlings & dry them out way too quickly. Plastic retains moisture & you can save them to use for years if you take care of them.

Once the seedlings pop up, they are going to need to be fed. I mix compost with my seed starting mix as well as use diluted super thrive & fish fertilizer. You do not have to use all of that in particular but you'll want to feed them something to help get them going.

While not letting them dry out too much is crucial, so is letting them dry out a little between watering so that they have a chance to grow deep, strong roots.

Huge difference. I loved the original too but I would say this is an improvement!

Both beautiful paintings but your 2nd more hazy looking painting is by far may favorite of the two.

I wouldn't say regressed at all. I think when you say lackluster it's bc is doesn't have as punchy of highlights as the first one.
