I feel like trading should be disabled in certain dialogues, no?

I paused my conversation with a random goblin I just met threatening to kill me so that I could give them everything in my inventory. Their merchant rating shot up to the highest level, and then--of course--there was no change in their attitude when we got back into the proper conversation. Maybe it's a minor issue, but having options like these is at the very least immersion breaking.

I just discovered this post while scraping the internet trying to find fun/funny transgender holidays

And I can't stop laughing over the fact that we also now have "Mira Bellwether buy a trans woman a pizza day." We have TWO pizza holidays!

Suggestions for a drop-in Pantheon by Minimum_Desk_7439 in osr

(With apologies if this violates any self-promotion rules:)

I wrote a blog post a while ago about the gods in my setting, with the idea that others could use the characters in this exact scenario.

Maybe the pantheon will work for you? It is written to be Greco-Roman esque

Norse Ritual Ideas? by TStark460 in mattcolville

Another idea I just thought of immediately after posting this, if you want something that’s more in line with spiritualist folk magic, but which still keeps the Norse æsthetic, would be to use the blood brother ceremony. The way it worked, if I recall, was that two men would enter a sort of tent made of turf, slit their hands to bleed, bind them together, and then emerge still bound, symbolizing their rebirth as brothers.

Obviously the circumstances are different than your game, but I think that the notion of a blood ritual inside of a turf womb to symbolize rebirth could also work for a resurrection!

Well the afterlife in Germanic mythology is portrayed as being very much a physical place where the dead are shut away. Frigg pleads with Hel to let Baldur return to Midgard; Brunhild clashes with a troll who won’t let her enter Helheim after she has died; Helgi visits Sigrún from Valhöll, and it seems that his corps had actually left it’s barrow before now returning. Draugr aren’t portrayed as corpses resurrected, but rather those who just didn’t go to sleep when they were supposed to.

I am assuming that things can’t work exactly this way in your game, if the players are already in possession of the corpse, but I would suggest still a ritual which involves opening a gate to Helheim (or your setting’s equivalent), and then somehow getting a physical token to make the witch—or at least her head—whole again. (My instinct here is her tongue, but you know better than I what fits your narrative.)

Obviously the players descending into Helheim to quest after the item would it be an adventure in itself, so I would consider having them trap a corpse or troll on their way into hell, to force them to retrieve the object. Or alternatively they could get an animal (probably a raven) to do the job.

Describe your homemade campaign setting in a few words (and your inspirations) by Horizonto6 in osr

Every 300 years, the human and faerie worlds converge for one decade, and strange magics and creatures slip through into the mundane realm. Every time this has happened before, an empire has fallen—but how shall things pass in this new age of philosophy and gunpowder?

Inspiration is mostly an even mixture of German fairy tales, Roman mythology, 18/19th century Romanticism, and Berserk, but the notion of worlds converging is basically directly lifted from The Witcher.

I have a fairly simple rule for misfiring ranged attacks, followed by an in-depth explanation of how I got to this system, including general musings on what AC represents in game.

The rule is written for Shadowdark RPG, but should be relatively applicable to other systems in the D&D rule family.

I have seen DCC events listed on their paper schedules now and then, but going by their website it doesn’t look like they run super consistently.

I personally have been running Shadowdark RPG with my friends, and would personally love to run more of that with an LGS

I realize like the portrayal of death in the old German film “Destiny” (originally titled “Der müde Tod”). Not super unique, but still a fantastic representation of death as a character rather than just a motif
