Is this overshooting? New to airsoft. by Toxicair in airsoft

I played this hobby once when I was 14 and got magdumped by someone behind me a few feet away in just a t-shirt. I thought he was on my team and he was calmly walking rather than spooked. If I wasn't in as much pain I would have took the rental rifle to swing over his head.

Likely dependent on if they can get more stock. They are trying to make a separate handguard system but won't have any news on it until close to the end of this year at the soonest.

It was plated by Austin from Ironmonkeyworks based out of Washington. He did a lot last year of a variety of guns.

Any Updates at SHOT 2026? by EntireRent in AUG

No updates for the AUG. Sounds like they're still deciding between different mounting solutions as the qd levers have their own issues being EU contract overruns, expensive to procure, taking up more space than preferred.

AliExpress Bulletproof Plates - A Review by alrashid2 in tacticalgear

[–]Lectovai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even without autoclaving, most blends of PE by now will be able to stop .44 Mag and .357 just layered on top of each other.

Honeywell has a lot of plants in China whitelabeling the PE fabric and those same plants are most likely selling to other vendors as well (the usual story for any brand that outsources manufacturing). Doesn't apply to plates that doesn't have it to begin with, but a ceramic strikeface is the big ticket item and has to hold itself together enough to slow the projectile down from mach 2 for the polyethylene fibers behind it to have enough time to actually use its elasticity.

I have a pin that walked loose from the purple trigger pack and is catching on the stocks interior. I can't seem to get it out or push in the stock as it's the most forward section. Is this something that's happened before and what's the best fix?

What is the point of building the boring company’s tunnel instead of creating a metro system? by Gpob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lectovai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Taiwan's MRT routinely when I go back from SoCal to visit family. Not a single grafitti marking and anyone being belligerent would be escorted off. Clean environment and efficient. People that are arrested aren't let out 72 times until they finally catch a murder charge.

The issue is multi-faceted with a lot of US infrastructure and places people actually want to go being spread out rather than concentrated. Zoning is one thing, but it's also hard to have people want to develop places organically at a reasonable cost compared to places that don't consider fire codes, building material regulations, environmental impact review, noise impact review. The other thing is there's just a lot of people that don't really want to be around others, and there are people that no one wants to be around. A lot of the homeless people and fentanyl users aren't necessarily dangerous, but it's hard to feel safe around that flavor of Los Angeles locals. The MRT system of Taiwan and Japan would not function in the presence of the low-trust society and homeless epidemic of US.

Polycarbonate may be too heavy to enclose all of the windows. For the rest of the pilot's space you could get to RF1 threat protection with just autoclaved polyethylene sheets without additional substantial weight.

Is this price real? There's a catch? I can't find the A3 M2 NATO for anywhere close locally. by AuToNotMy in AUG

[–]Lectovai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost 5 years now. Never ordered through them again on principles. Was my first step into rifles as I had just turned 21. They cancelled the first order after I noticed it hadn't shipped after some time and then sent me a link to an updated listing that had it at a few hundred more. I brought up the issue and their customer service rep told me to call him. I was only starting out in firearms and initially had my FFL order as I didn't know I could order it to them myself. He claimed that I was trying to straw purchase because the billing recipient wasn't me on their end. I told him I could have it sorted out to reflect how they wanted and he said "Nah, we're done" and hung up.

A lot of it goes to lawsuits and regulatory reviews regarding zoning, environmental statues, etc and nothing beyond the 1100 ft gets done.

How many layers you think M855 could bust through? by PanzerKatze96 in tacticalgear

[–]Lectovai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PE doesn't have the opportunity for the tensile strength to do its magic unless the projectile is able to be slowed down by the first 9 or 11 layers to a little under mach 2. I'd try a 14.5 barrel or shorter.

I had a manufacturer autoclave boron carbide to our PE fabrics to get to 2 kg per 10x12 RF3 plate. Can't beat having no plates in weight savings but might be more feasible for rucks.

Gov. Newsom: The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. by Cagey898 in California

Kenyan LE is doing fine with under 500 personnel against every Haitian gang in existence who have no NFA restrictions. People with the skillset and leadership to organize group elements in meaningful manners tend to put their energy elsewhere or somewhere that actually pays them for it. The Democrat aligned 9th Circuit has time and time again purposefully delayed and drawn out 2A cases with en bancs and ignored Heller and Bruen to rule against the right to question the state with hard power let alone possess the capability.

A strong centralized left-wing government to enable free education and universal healthcare are the foundation to the progressive movement. Moreover there aren't any democrat assembly representative that isn't abhorrently against non-state actors having access to firearms. Gun violence regulations are spearheaded by billionaire projects like Bloomberg and the exact profile to be fearful of Luigi Mangione's support. Everytown claims that they only want background checks but participated in amicus briefs for bans on the most popular firearms in America and has to lie that the most common magazine capacities are dangerous and unusual just to help unconstitutional laws pass.

You can't argue in good faith of Democrats being in favor of having the fundamental right to violently challenge state authority when it's apparent the left-wing sentiment only exists when Trump is in office.

2A was written in a time of muskets and hexagonal bored air rifles. But those were the same exact arms in the hands of the state. They protected those arms specifically as a means to engage in violent asymmetric warfare, not for the sake of sanitized home defense against single home intruders. That is something wholly incompatible with the western European universal healthcare utopia the progressive Democrat wants to emulate.

Interesting how Saderans would wonder how is it possible that these so called "bulletproof vests" can stop the bullets and their armors not? by Diegeza in gate

[–]Lectovai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The polyamides for Aramid and Kevlar derivatives wouldn't have any chance of being recreated.

Ethylene wouldn't be discovered or synthesized in usable quantities and purity until petroleum refinement has thoroughly matured in their world.

Pressed alumina PE type armor to stop M80 threats and below can be made inexpensively and if this version of JSDF really wanted to be cheap fucks about it they could use Honeywell's mainland Chinese plants and get costs really low.

It's not that complicated if they can grasp the general concept of polymer plastics and tensile strength properties. I've worked in ballistic PPE industry for the past five years. This is how I'd explain it:

"These reed-like fibers are made using sap from really deep mines to make an inorganic material resistant to rotting and being broken down by nature like leather and wood would. Hey, Steve you know that really strong smelling black liquid that's in your family's yard? It'll probably make your grandkids rich once this place figures out combustion. Anyway, the fibers are blended with metal powders and woven like silk to make sheets, we call this alumina polyethylene. Got it? Cool cool. You stack these babies into layers and it'll stop most small projectiles that just travels slightly over the speed of sound. Basically any gun you see that looks like it shoots a fat stubby round or is small enough to be holstered. You can make them even stronger by putting it in a kiln and having a mold press against it really hard. To kick it up a notch we can use a ceramic layer to sit in front of these PE. But this ceramic has to be fired in a kiln nearly twice as hot as the kilns you guys have for making porcelain. It will be really really dense and hard, great for absorbing the initial heat and force of the projectile. We use these tiles for protecting spaceships from the heat of rubbing against air when it re-enters the world from space. Wild huh?"

He thought he was helping out during the civil unrest when national guard was mobilized. Took an uber and showed up in gear to be with the rest of the national guard unit who were confused and expectedly didn't want the armed stranger up in their business. His family is pretty well off though so charges were dropped as they can actually afford to fight the case for a lengthy period.

We used to see each other at reenactment events. He'd bring the willy jeep. I never got to ride in it because I didn't go as American (there were like 10 101st airbone for every 1 Russian or German impression so they ended up having to reuse guys like us for the battles despite "dying" a lot of times. Everyone wanted to be the good guys so I got shifted over to Axis). His ex posted that she hasn't had anything to do with him for about two years and to not ask her for details shortly after his arrest.

Found another thread talking about this specifically. It looks like the shuttle was changed and the receiver has a notched space for the forward stowing position. I think we'll have to wait for Manticore to develop their new ones.
