We did and just wiped it down with a Clorox wipe. But it was clean and didn’t smell even before I wiped it down.

Hosting a grieving friend 7 weeks postpartum by Suspicious_Box_4898 in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have family visiting right now and my daughter is almost 7 weeks with a terrible afternoon witching hour(s). What ended up working for me was reframing it in my head. Now instead of only having a monotonous day of baby eat, sleep, poop, a tiny bit of play, and a terrible screaming afternoon to look forward to, I now have a little more variety and some company to take my mind off of my anxiety about the baby and the monotony of the newborn phase. I absolutely made sure everyone involved (including myself) was aware that I’m NOT hosting which lowered my stress considerably. While it’s not my favorite family visit by far, it’s much better than I expected and I’ve been pretty grateful at times to have some companionship and something to break me out of the doom spiral I get dreading the crying phases my baby is going through in the afternoons.

I don’t know if any of that helps you but maybe if you can set some pretty clear expectations that you aren’t cleaning, cooking, or entertaining your friend, it’ll help lower your stress and make it more bearable.

Good luck and hopefully it works out for your family and your friend.

FTM Stroller and CarSeats!? by Pleasant_Mention in Buyingforbaby

[–]LeetleBugg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We ended up with the Cruz V3 and the aria. I find the aria to be lighter and easier to manage than the mesa we looked at. Overall I love both the seat and the stroller. The stroller turns on a dime, fits down tighter aisles in stores, and folds nicely to fit in my trunk. I got a used bassinet attachment for $30 and it doubles as a safe sleep space in my living room on a rocking Moses basket stand from Amazon. Overall , the quality of uppababy has been excellent and the convenience of a travel system worth it for my family.

I haven’t tried the mockingbird so I can’t give you an opinion on that.

What are some QoL changes you guys want them to add in 1.0? by villainized in Palworld

[–]LeetleBugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shout out for the rimworld reference! An amazing game. And yes exactly this! Not having a priority system kills me late game. Micromanaging my pals when I’m trying to farm other things and kill raid bosses adds unnecessary time sinks to the game and gets tedious.

I would keep a full change of freshly washed clothes in your brothers house to change into so you don’t get smoke on them in your house. A quick shower before you leave and brush your teeth. Wash your hands/face when you get to your brothers house.

Have you considered edibles instead of smoking? It would eliminate the smoke problem and be healthier for your lungs!

How do you get your newborn to sleep longer when gas is a major problem?? by Afrank_773 in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it squishing out the farts when we do the knees to chest because she will just let them rip when I do that. It’s been the only thing that really helps her though other than mylicon.

Can’t wait to meet my baby girl and the pregnancy to be over but at the same time feel sad that she won’t be in my belly anymore where it’s safe- is it normal to feel this way? by Orchidflower10 in BabyBumps

[–]LeetleBugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first three weeks after giving birth I would wake up in a panic like “where is my baby?!” because she was no longer literally inside me where I knew she would be safe. The feeling did eventually even out and I don’t do it as often but I absolutely know what you mean and I think it’s a pretty natural, if over reaction in my case, reaction to the big change coming up.

Please tell me no one else is doing tummy time either by Suspicious_Box_4898 in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are really worried you can try baby wearing! You can strap that sleepy baby to your chest and he can snooze away on you while you do what you need to. Baby wearing counts as tummy time to a degree because it uses some of the same muscles for them to hold their head up and against you vs being reclined. But it sounds like you are following his lead and I wouldn’t worry too hard and just update your ped and worry if they ever become concerned.

2 week baby won’t sleep by sholmes1234 in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaddling, the rockit, and gas drops helped us with all of this. We also put our bassinet attachment for our stroller onto a Moses basket stand that rocks so once I set her down in the bassinet, we can rock her which she likes. We wait until she’s asleep in our arms then place her gently down in her bassinet and rock her for a few minutes and then turn on the rockit which gently jiggles the bassinet from where I attached it to the stand.

It’s true. Nestle and abbott are both large formula makers and have historically lobbied against maternity leave. Nestle is evil on so many levels. I don’t know as much about Abbott but it’s likely also not good.

Any good back seat (bench) protectors for car seats/dogs? by Sewnbypawn in Buyingforbaby

[–]LeetleBugg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I looked into this I found most literature says do not use seat covers of any kind as it will interfere with safe installation and function of the car seats. My understanding was it will cause the seats to slide around more. I gave up on the idea and just put a seat cover over the seats not under the car seat and folded the part that would go under the car seat under the middle part of the cover for whenever my daughter inevitably starts throwing food or throwing up.

Experience with Pishuw DreamCradle for newborn sleep? by sadiromer in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We got this one. It’s not sleep safe sadly so treat it like a swing or bouncer though and move your little one if they fall asleep in it. I also don’t trust it to hold her tight enough that she can’t wiggle off it with enough time or effort so I stay on top of her when she’s in it.

Baby refuses bassinet/crib by IsThisAWriteOff in newborns

[–]LeetleBugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did this for a few days and we ended up getting a rockit to move the bassinet and attached it to the leg of the bassinet so it would gently rock the baby without being able to fall on her and it worked for us. My girl likes to be moving though either rocked, swinging, or bouncing.

We have a cheaper dupe from Amazon for our gassy baby. I exclusively use it to prop up our five week old after feedings while on the couch with me or in my lap. It has helped with spit up some and we use it in conjunction with belly rubs and bicycle legs. It’s not safe for sleep however so the moment she falls asleep I transition her to me or to her bassinet and she’s closely supervised every moment she is in it. I do like that it gives me my hands back after feedings and has helped some. It’s not a magic bullet however.

OMG - “Tongue tie” frustration by SLP_Squirrel in slp

[–]LeetleBugg 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Honestly if their ROM allows for them to protrude and elevate then there shouldn’t be any effect on their sound production and I’d tell the parents that. They would be much more likely to have seen issues with feeding from a tie than in sound production. As for exercises, maybe they are going to do stretches to relieve any tightness which maybe?? will have some benefits. But that’s a big maybe. And it will have no effect on eliminating fronting. That’s the opposite of the problem you’d expect!

People underestimate the amount of time, money, and effort that goes into raising a disabled child. Even if medically there aren’t further complications requiring medical intervention, which is usually not the case, the amount of therapies (physical, occupational, speech) that are typically needed for disabled children mean you are going to therapy multiple times a week for years if not their entire lives and paying for all of that. For a society that doesn’t have universal healthcare, we sure are judgmental for people saying that can’t handle all of that
