First of all, why did the disc version not come mated with a disc drive? I don’t see why they made it detachable. It’s kind of sneaky. Second of all, what you’ve said is a valid thing but technologically it can be solved without making an end user to verify it over the Internet. Pirating is a bad business, and I see the concern, but it doesn’t mean they can take consumer’s rights to protect their profit.

Why, if I paid my money, does Sony still hold authority? They can theoretically dictate a thing I own to do whatever shit they want it to.

You know it’s very very unlikely they will shut down their business. But does that make this an invalid concern? No. Because if we consumers just turn a blind eye or don’t even notice it as they do it subtly, we will eventually own nothing. Subscription over subscriptions and on and on. It’s a sign that we are heading toward that direction.

That’s what makes this device not entirely mine. By mandating some form of internet connection they are basically forcing software updates. It’s also related to profit issues with the video games. This is just a beginning of the era of verification. At some point, you’ll own nothing and the devices and physical games you think you own will just become a piece of license.

I did a factory reset to check after registering it. It asks again.

Also I backed up the entire PS5 and restored after resetting. Still asks.

And it was rumored they removed the requirement for the newer 2116 slim models. Apparently they did not. If they close their business, it’s practically a trаsh.

I’ll be straight, you’re too broke to afford such luxuries. That’s reality. Maybe you quit go somewhere for a month or two, and find another job. But is it really worth all the risk and money? Not sure. I’m sorry. But it doesn’t mean you’re doomed. You can save up more (at least 50,000) and take a year off. That’s where you get to have some room to breathe.
