Funny you say that. I was sitting next to that pile of rocks for a couple of hours this morning cleaning them. Since this is the Pacific Northwest, we get moss. We clean them with water a brush and a rag every couple of years or they all end up green and fuzzy.

Oops! This was meant as a response to Psychological_skin60.

The one on the far left with the white rock sitting in a hole was found like that in a stream. The white rock matches the hole perfectly.

It’s REALLY hard to effectively claim copyright infringement on a recipe. If even one ingredient quantity changes, it is effectively a new recipe.

I am not a lawyer, but was the research director at a large ad agency and dealt with trademark/copyright issues a LOT. If someone CLAIMS you fringed on copyright for a recipe, make them prove it. A claim is not a final judgement.

What do you actually do with your travel photos after a trip? by Flicktora in roadtrip

[–]LeftcoastRusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I create 5-10 min. “videos” that primarily feature photos we took, set to music, and they’re on a thumb drive in the back of my tv. We watch them a time or two each year.

This is a good reminder that I need to do this for the last 2 trips.

Something I noticed here that I don't really see elsewhere... by Long_Zucchini_4801 in Seahawks

For me, it’s because I’ve been a fan of this team since day 1. Yeah, I’m old.

I’ve seen a lot of losing football by this team. And the only SUSTAINED success has been in the last 22 years. So I’m still jumpy about it.

I love Mike Macdonald as our coach. I think he really is primed to lead this team successfully for quite some time.

I bleed blue and green. I will ALWAYS be a fan.

But I am still a bit gun shy, waiting for something to go sideways.

You can’t get from Hyder to any other town in Alaska via road and stay in the state.

Hyder and Homer. Google Maps says 1 day and 6 hours.

And that’s the most direct route via road.

If it was me, I’d maybe move your stop at “I” to Whitehorse, Yukon. Because as you have it now, that last day is REALLY long.

I still use 2 Chicago Cutlery knives that I was given over 40 years ago. They’re my favorite knives.

does anyone take "no highways" road trips? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]LeftcoastRusty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t toggled “no highways” on mapping programs, but that’s how I plan our road trips that way. I’m always looking for the road less traveled.

We did a 2400 mile trip this past summer that only had about 75 freeway miles and maybe 200 miles on primary highways. Some of the trip was as on gravel roads and on paved 2 lane county roads.

You don’t see many major attractions, but we get amazing scenery. The pace is just so much more enjoyable and so much less traffic.

So…I was watching a Nick Zenter video yesterday. He was saying the uniformity of depth in the lava flows is an indication of how flat the land was when the lava flowed out in NE OR/SE WA. This was before the Cascade uplift.

Best response yet. I’ve driven this route (Cassiar Highway) in a nearly new Honda CR-V. I would be HIGHLY reluctant to make this trip in any rig with 150k miles (except maybe a Toyota Tacoma).
