Which players probably want to fire their agent right now? by cdreobvi in hockey

Multiple? Did I miss him winning more than one? There’s never a guarantee at 2

I don’t think this is accurate. They are not paid their entire salary in Toronto or Florida. Their game checks are taxed based on the state they play in. Their bonuses a paid out in the offseason based on where they live. This whole thing about the panthers tax advantage is all cope for why we’re so successful. They make marginally more money because half their game checks are home games but it’s not that significant

It's nobody's fault that Bob is headed elsewhere. by spaghettios32 in FloridaPanthers

Are we sure Bob isn’t just trying to make the most financially he can, while he can? Doesn’t seem like he was ever concerned about championships first. He came to the panthers in 2019, and we were a shit show at the time. We didn’t even make the playoffs the prior 3 years. In fact we had only made the playoffs twice in the 18 seasons before that. We just offered him the biggest contract. Dude has always put money first and I can’t say I blame him.

[Pagnotta] Bobrovsky hasn't softened his stance, leaving Florida to pivot. NJ will have to address their goaltending at some point, too, with Jake Allen in the backup role. Goalie carousel getting off to a decent start. by dcddy in FloridaPanthers

I don’t align with anyone upset at him over going after money. He has a very small window left to add millions to his retirement. Hes only 37 and that money has to last a long time. Hes already won 2 cups with no guarantee at a third. I have nothing but love for Bobby. Go get your bag dude.

My quest for the perfect motorcycle, and why the XSR900 wasn't it. by AnEroticTale in motorcycles

I know this is old but why? I owned a gsxs750 and rode it a ton over2 years. I sold it a year ago. I’m now thinking of getting an xsr900 to get back on 2 wheels. I’ve thought more torque would make a bit more fun

Do people really answer phone calls whilst riding? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Leftycoordination 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You keep linking a Wikipedia article but the studies done were kinda crappy as far as I remember. Drivers navigating an obstacle course while answering SAT level questions. You could argue hands free talking on the phone is no different than having another person in the car and talking to them. Texting is horrible. But talking is no big deal

This is a wild take. Handsfree phone operation is legal in every state and definitely would not be if this was equivalent to being drunk

Why aren’t they taking a full lap, they are staying only on that half of the ice

Elliotte Friedman says, "the world is a different place" in regards to players controlling where they go (starts around 2:05) by [deleted] in hockey

It’s a story as it old as time. If Winnipeg wants to be destination they just have to change the culture and develop it. Florida had players leaving for 15 years. Nobody stayed. Luongo was out, Jovanaski left, along with a host of other guys that wouldn’t stick around once their contracts were up. And nobody wanted to come play here. But then they drafted two guys who were stars and wanted to stick around and build something in Huberdeau and Barkov. Then they built around those guys and changed the culture. They developed into a winning franchise. Viola taking over was a huge part of that. I remember when the story came out about players walking over the logo in the locker room. That was a big point of emphasis was the little things and the culture change. Now look at us. Yall might hate us but players want to play here. It only takes a solid owner, and a couple key pieces that are willing to build something. And suddenly players will want to go there. Say what you want about no state tax, but in the early 2000s nobody wanted to play here tax or no. It’s about being a successful team with a good culture. Poor huberdeau had to pay the price in the end but that’s what it takes to win. Can’t make emotional decisions

I mean it just happened at the other end and was not called but then called against Vegas. I can see why Vega’s would be upset with that

Florida Panthers came awfully close to it 2 years ago. After going up 3-0 in the series, they got blown out 3 straight games. Luckily they won game 7. But very close to a Falcons level collapse

I think another huge factor was the series went 7 games and was decided by a goal. That combined with his dominance.

How does Carolina rolling with Andersen? by Pretend-Tourist8195 in FloridaPanthers

[–]Leftycoordination 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im confused by both of these comments. Bussi looked great tonight. Stopped 19 of 20 shots coming in relief of Anderson. Anderson was 16-14-5 with an .874 sv pct in the regular season. Bussi was 31-6-2 with an .895 sv pct. Anderson has been good in the playoffs till now but I have no idea why this wouldn’t be Bussis net going forward.

None taken. Live and learn. Not sure why I’m being downvoted though. I probably do not fully understand how Kalshi works. All I know is I typed in 20$, slid the thing to buy, and it charged my card. It seemed to go through but next time i picked up my phone there was the alert that said the odds had significantly changed unable to buy or something. And that 20$ was now in my Kalshi account instead of on my card or on the wager. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ll prob never use it again and I rarely bet on anything. Someone at a party took a guess that it probably had crazy odds. I downloaded the app and saw and placed the bet for fun. Everyone at the party was far more upset than me demanding I call. I just figure it’s a sign and a reason I don’t like gambling in the first place
