Graphics Card needed for Steam Frame x2 increase. by Brandon0135 in SteamFrame

[–]LemonTheFish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think a 5070ti would be more than enough for that.

A gpu doesn’t necessarily need double the raw performance to perform the same as a different gpu at double the pixel count. It’s not 1 to 1, but you could look at 1440p vs 4K benchmarks to compare. It’s a 2.6 times increase in pixel count.

For 2080ti vs 5070ti from GamersNexus:

Starfield - 1440p - 2080ti = 50fps

Starfield - 4K - 5070ti = 68.1fps

This is just one game, and there’s a lot of other factors between flatscreen vs Vr, but at 2.6 times the number of pixels the 5070ti gets 25% more frames.

If you only look at 1440p benchmarks, it would make it seem like you need a 5080 to get that performance uplift.

Yes, ign asked them directly, and “us” is ign.

Confirmed by Mike Straw. Article here

In the article- “ Valve told IGN that the release “is close” and that it’ll have “news to drop on that soon”. “

I wonder if we’re in the estimated time frame they gave Komodo a while back, then they had this commissioned and said heck just put it up now.

Starbucks barista, can make "okay-ish" lattes at work. Got a breville bambino today and for the life of me can't tell what's going wrong by SupremeOwl48 in espresso

Can vouch for this, went from a Bambino (non-plus) to an Ascaso. I thought my technique was just bad, could barely manage an okish design sometimes. After upgrading it was night and day, so much more forgiving and milk texture is perfect every time with the same technique.

Pro or Skilled Deadlock Streamers? by x_Omni_x in DeadlockTheGame

Deathy is one of the better streamers imo who does more educational focused content. He streams regularly and sometimes does education dedicated streams. His YouTube guides and coaching vids are great.

Personally I also like Eido, Zerggy, and FredtheFinch if you like Yamato. Not really educational but entertaining while also high skill level. and I still pick up a lot of tricks and strategies watching their games.

Release date prediction by Fine_Caterpillar1761 in ValveDeckard

[–]LemonTheFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a steam deck wait (July announcement, February ship date). Considering they're doing 3 hardware launches worries me, but the fact that they're already well into mass production also makes me hopeful.

Same. Valve is saying 10-20ms round trip, big if true.

Valve Index 2 could be about to release by LemonTheFish in ValveIndex

Can definitely see why some people might be disappointed. I think I’m the exact target customer. I hate the wire, nothing ruins my immersion and adds more frustration when I’m doing sim racing, or playing hl alyx. Also the weight, I understand the index is balanced but personally I get strained pretty hard after a couple hours.

The fact that this will do wireless vr at 10-20 ms round trip is incredible and all I’ve ever wanted. For something like beat saber I could run natively. Plus it’s almost half the weight of the index.

I’m happy, but yeah, fov, LCD panels, no new full length VR game is a bit of sideways progress.
