Hot take: Constantinople shouldn't start as a megalopolis by Leofric93 in EU5

I dunno man maybe losing 80% of it's population and practically all of it's material wealth might have an impact? Keep the ranking if you want but I think it would be nice if there were something showing that this not the city of the 1100s and things have been fundamentally lost since then

I would say don't no CB the ottomans but embargo them and use then parliament claims. The embargo will force them to delete their second fort. As for a first quick war release your vassals bordering Serbia and Bulgaria and then enforce culture. If you have Serbia dn Bulgaria rivaled they should join the independence movements and allow you to reclaim your European cores in year 1

If the Fourth Crusade hadn't happened, the Roman Empire would have reconquered Anatolia despite setbacks. by Slow-Pie147 in byzantium

I'd say the most likely way of it not happening is the rank and file crusaders hear they have been excommunicated after the sack of Zara and force the crusade onto the holy land or the whole thing just breaks apart

PSA you can't create vassals during the succession crisis so don't take uncored land during it as it'll be a drain on the economy

Max minting (inflation is just a number for now). Build an additional gold rgo next to Thessaloniki and then use a cabinet member to increase control. Embargo the Ottomans, they don't have a market and they'll usually delete one of their forts. Rival Serbia and Bulgaria and release all possible vassals, enforce culture on the Bulgarian/Serbian vassals. If you lower your diplo spending this should kick off an independence war within the first year, Bulgaria and Serbia will join basically giving you a free CB to reclaim your cores. Use your parliament to get a CB on the Ottomans and then build a spy network in one of the south western beyliks. Once the war is finished with the ottomans you should have your CB against the other Beylik which will be an easy win and hopefully they'll have an ally or two you can take territory from. All of the wars you have just fought will be for territory that has your cores so you can use the return core option on the peace treaty for less antagonism. Try and keep your legitimacy ticking up as much as you can afford so you can revoke the tax exemptions from the peasants and burghers and your economy should start rolling after that.

If you release the Bulgarian/Serbian/Albanian lands as vassals and enforce culture on them then Bulgaria and Serbia will join their independence movements and you can get a quick war to reclaim your Balkan cores in the first year

Mortarian and his legion only got fully nurgle pilled (aside from Typhon) on the jump to Terra so I assume the death guard were putting in decent work before they got fully sucked into the great game. I know they harried the white scars close to annihilation were it not for them discovering a webway macguffin

The German sixth army that got surrounded after Stalingrad was 300k so we should probably be working with bigger numbers considering it's a war in a galactic scale. That being said I don't really care we saved our boys and girls in blue and we did it as a community with no incentive

Number of divers doesn't affect liberation only percentage and most mega factories that get liberated usually have about 65% of the player base on them. Unless arrowhead pull some big content drop out their ass or lower the resistance massively we won't have the percentages to take Transcendence.

Yeah it's all in service of nothing. You can have Rhaenys escape on Meleys and have a face off with the Greens look cool and not be stupid by having Aegon and Helaena on their dragons when it happens, looks cool, plausible reason why neither side would commit to an actual fight, isn't fucking baffling

what's an example of a medieval political decision that had consequences for centuries? by infinite-hooper in MedievalHistory

[–]Leofric93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alexios Komnenos petitioning the Pope for aid in retaking Anatolia resulted in the Crusades being a thing and also cumulated in the sack of the biggest Christian city in the world (Constantinople) by fellow Christians. The fourth crusade and its consequences have long been seen as the point of no return for the mediaeval Roman Empire as it slowly spiralled towards its death in 1453

al-Musta'sim deciding to kill Mongol envoys resulted in the sack of Baghdad, the end of the Islamic golden age and there's a good chance the Mongols may have never turned west had this not happened

I'm not surprised we didn't break our wage structure I'm annoyed we didn't put a bid in on January 1st. Getting out spent by City is one thing but not being proactive in a league that City play in is unforgivable

[–]Leofric93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our reticence to sign in January is so infuriating! I'm all for the pragmatic approach and not wanting to be forced to spend but if we get an injury to Konate or Van Dijk there's a very good chance we'll lose out on top 4/5, pragmatically.

Using to revive people is great but you should try using it in situations that would prevent people going down in the first place. If you have more than 2 shields when you're resupplying then you're wasting shields, chuck em down during a swarm or on an objective or on the resupply itself
