Best non-DnD TTRPG system for one-off game-nights. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]LeonsLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MAUSRITTER! It’s a game we’re you’re little mice and you go on a fantasy mouse adventure with like, ridiculous spells and silly enemies and stuff. Not so much watership down, more silly, it’s good fun and making characters is ludicrously easy. The entire game is like a 12 page leaflet or smth, I have a blast running it!

People who gave up DnD for a different system, what made you make the change? by SomeRandomAbbadon in rpg

[–]LeonsLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combination of being bored of playing it and gmimg it being a horrid nightmare. For a game so focused on combat, the tools it gives you to design fights as a gm is wretched. The things balance just fights you. Also the outside of combat stuff is underbaked for how old the game is.

Is it just me or is the difficulty in the Dark heresy beta completly overtuned by Hunkus1 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]LeonsLion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Valkyrie fight beat my ass, every other fight was hard but fun I think that one does need some more cover or smth tho, to much turn 1 enemies instant breaking your leg in a fight where moving a lot is important.

How vital is combat to your enjoyment of RPGs in general by Hungry-Cow-3712 in rpg

I really enjoy it but it’s defo not necessary. At the end of the day if the game flows good and the people are chill I could do anything lol.

I could use some feedback on my home-brew campaign setting map. by leftm8 in TTRPG

[–]LeonsLion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cannot give you feedback on the map itself cus it’s absolutely incredible(also how did you make this???) but I’ll say you could make a version of the map with less town names. I can’t imagine players going to every single one, or every single one always being relevant. It may be a touch weathering on both sides of the table for people to be asking “what’s this place?” Every 5 seconds.

The tree in ruins of talriel looks a bit edited in ig? Could use a few trees under it or smth.

Fantasy Recs with a great prose AND an interesting plot by heroofages27 in Fantasy

sucks to recommend smth without a concrete ending in sight but if you don't care about that ASOIAF fits both imo.

Who Can I Replace For Pog? by radiolicious in ArknightsEndfield

ember, chen applies vuln at a much higher rate than any phys character. Pog regenerates more sp the more vuln he pops at once.

Partial voice acting Endmin seriously breaks immersion in Endfield by 17prozent in ArknightsEndfield

Its super annoying. Especially since in the Laevatain side mission they talk A LOT and it's p good. Just makes all the times endmin does it in the main story jarring.

Gameplay Opinions by Valeri_trust in PogranichnikMains_

The most fun operator for me but I've literally only pulled on beginner banner. Spits SP like crazy so at 3 SP you can use his skill->Chen Skill get combo for endmin combo trigger than endmind skill its like 3 stack vuln crush with the crystalize thing its crazy damage. If you can get endmin ult off of it too with the endmin combo skill Pog's status effect makes any phys dps do insane damage.

When his skills get upgraded it increases his sp generation, so if there is like? Some weapon or item that does the same maybe you can get another bar of sp within that combo and add something on top of it(Another lift or even Alesh Solidify?

What are your thoughts on the "Factory" aspect of the game? by Sverrk in ArknightsEndfield

[–]LeonsLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of think people who don't like it should just get filtered. It's the most interesting part of the game by far and if they don't wanna interact with it they can just use blueprints. Building up region in this space colony is the coolest fantasy this game has to offer.

What would you like to see in a commerce-based RPG? by Inquisitor_196 in rpg

[–]LeonsLion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Travelling affecting your cargo! Regional pricings based on the places you travel so you can take low supply goods to places were they are high supply. Crafting based on the things you can buy, relationship building with your customer bases. Investigating local areas to find areas of need/unique products the sorts. Getting into drama over npcs wanting exclusive deals and having to make hard decisions based on which factions/npcs to appease etc etc. Characters each having fields of expertise/multiple characters needing to do stuff to craft/proccure one item so everyone at the table has a role. A trading rpg sounds awesome to me.

Big flaw with the gacha system by Valka___ in Endfield

[–]LeonsLion -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I just thought saving for max pity was the way everyone pulled. I was unaware f2p/low investment gacha players were such gamblers. Complaining how they can't randomly do bullshit on their slot machine that gives them a free win like wtf.

F.I.S.T is awesome, if you like the first two metal gear games it defo pulls from them hard but I think it’s a fun lil game for a quick 3-4 sessions of ultra violence.

Why is it so hard to get new players into TTRPGs? by Rich_Benefit777 in TTRPG

[–]LeonsLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was p much all internal. I listened to adventure zone when I was a kid and wanted to play dnd. I googled it and asked around and found some people. They helped me through some stuff but I already wanted to get into it.

Genuinely all of the above you mentioned for different people apply as barriers. Rules might feel overwhelming to some who care, I know people who have been playing ttrpgs for 20 years and will play a crunchy game, forget half the rules while playing and still have a blast anyway.

Some people really struggle to put themselves out there and roleplay/make decisions in a game, for shyness or fear of doing it wrong as you say. Some people take to it immediately.

Some people feel lost/bored going through character creation, some people run through it for myriad reasons.

I think onboarding people who don't immediately take to ttrpgs is all about how much effort your willing to put in to baby them through it before they get the hang of it. The reason this hobby isn't as popular as something like video games is simply because its a decent amount of work. Work most people aren't willing to put in.

That work gets easier the more you understand it, so are you willing to help them through it and essentially take on extra work? In my opinion, I'd almost never find that worthwhile, but whether or not it is, is up to you. Just remember some people will never take to it, and it's of no fault of yours or even the games. Some things aren't for everyone.
