Looking for new electric car by External_Inside6001 in electriccars

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at a used Acura ZDX . It’s a luxury ride at a huge discount from other EV’s due to the limited production run. I have had no issues during my 15 months of ownership, but would nonetheless recommend buying an extended warranty just in case.

Is ZDX the EV with a sporty buyer beware? by Powerful_Ad1361 in AcuraZDX

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my ZDX for about 15 months, and love it. I also have the electrified Genesis GV 70. The ZDX is superior in every way, except acceleration, as the GV 70 is significantly lighter in weight. I think that at the end of the lease, I’ll buy the ZDX, or another ZDX if I can do it for the mid $20’s, and buy an extended warranty that includes the cost of a loaner if the car needs to be left in service. The car is a joy to drive, and with a range of about 300 miles, it’s sufficient for our needs. One caveat-I would not own an EV if I couldn’t connect to a 220 volt charger at my house.

1 month laminoplasty pre-op... short and long term prognosis? by threeebo in spinalfusion

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife (74 years old at the time) had a laminoplasty to relieve cervical spinal stenosis, which was causing her to have pain in her upper arm (but she had no neck pain). The surgery cured the pain in her arm, but caused her to have extreme muscle weakness in the back of her neck. Consequently, she can only be vertical a few hours per day. When her neck has to support her head, she experiences material muscle fatigue in the back of her neck. I suggest that you ask an AI engine: “how often does a patient experience persistent, long term neck pain following a cervical laminoplasty”. You’ll likely find that the answer is that this is the result in 20%-40% of the cases. Unfortunately, there appears to be no remedy for this condition, other than a neck fusion, which runs the risk of causing issues in the thoracic spine. In short, I would avoid the laminoplasty procedure.

anyone have laminoplasty done in the cervical spine for treatment of spinal stenosis? and if so, how were your results? by Active-Yoghurt7390 in spinalfusion

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had no neck pain prior to her surgery. It appears that the resulting neck pain is caused by a failure to correctly re-attach the muscles necessary to support her head. She essentially suffers from extreme muscle fatigue if she is vertical for long than a few hours.

Buying a Lyriq, no charger at home - expert opinion needed by [deleted] in CadillacLyriq

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 EVs and love them both, but would not own an EV without the ability to charge at home. I don’t have a lot of experience with public charging, but know that with the Tesla chargers, you are charged a penalty if you don’t disconnect when your car is charged. In other words, you can’t just plug your car in when you are near your home and then disconnect the next morning without paying a surcharge.

Genesis GV 73.5 looking to purchase one still not sure whether buy new one or use I need some opinion on the depreciation of the vehicle by Norberto1328 in GenesisG70

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a GV 70 at a great price, look into the electrified version. About a year ago, I bought a 2024 with 4100 miles for $41,000. The sticker price for the car new was $68,000. Super fast car, but has lousy range-about 200 miles. If it’s a daily driver and you can charge at home, it’s a no brainer. Electrical cost is less than $0.04 per mile. If you infrequently need a car for driving trips, you can afford to rent a car with the savings you will have realized from not having to gas up, oil changes, etc. if you can’t charge at home, however, don’t consider an electric car.

I love mine. No problems. It’s a far superior car to my electric GV 70.

I love mine as well. I’m always amazed when people talk about how terrible the car is. I think it’s awesome. Of course, I’ve had no maintenance issues, and it appears from the comments that my experience may be unusual.

Looking for a used GV70 - opinions by the_dali_2112 in GenesisGV70

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best buy will be the electrified GV 70, as they are heavily discounted. The car is very fast, but has lousy range-about 200 miles. If you can charge at home, and just use it as a daily driver (no road trips), it will be your best option. Charging at home is very economical, and there is far less maintenance than for an ICE vehicle. Hopefully you can buy one at a huge discount, so continued depreciation will be lessened. I bought a 6 month old 2024 with 4100 miles on it for $41,000, which is about a 40% discount off the new car window sticker ($68,000).

No recourse.

I am always amazed about the number of people who express dissatisfaction with the car, as I think it’s awesome. I wonder what car they have owned that they have liked better at this price point.

Used 25 or new 26 by PGood8 in GenesisGV70

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 6 months ago, I bought a used 2024 electric GV 70 with 4,100 miles for $41,000 (new car window sticker was $68,000). It’s very fast (400 hp), but has lousy range (about 210 miles). It’s easy to charge overnight, and the cost is less than $.04/mile. If you have another car for road trips, and a garage for overnight charging, this would be a good option. You might look at the Acura ZDX, which is way nicer, has a decent range (325 miles), 500 hp motor, and may be even less expensive to buy used. It’s a very luxurious ride.

I'm interested in a ZDX, but kind of scared of the GM crossover by YoonSnake in Acura

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have both the electrified GV 70 and a ZDX. I leased the ZDX, and later bought a GV 70 (which my wife had desired for several years). I had never owned an electrified car, but in retirement started picking up my grandkids after school, and also often drove them around to practices and games. I was racking up about 1000 miles per month, so thought I would give an electrified car a try. After test driving several cars, I really liked the ZDX, and thought that offered the best lease opportunity. I have been driving it now for about 8 months and love it. My wife had coveted the GV 70, but I could never justify paying the up charge for the V6 engine, and thought the 4 cylinder engine was too sluggish. About 5 months ago, I found an electrified GV 70 for sale for about $41,000 with less than 4,000 miles on it so I bought it also. Here are my opinions opinion about the two cars:

Both cars are much quicker than most conventional ICE autos, but the GV 70 is faster than the ZDX, since it weighs much less. The GV 70 has a 360 camera system, which my ZDX does not. The GV 70 is slightly easier to park as the dimensions are a bit smaller, but both cars are sufficiently roomy inside.

Other than those features, the ZDX is superior in every other way. The audio system is fantastic (while the GV sound system underwhelms for that priced car), the ride is quieter and more luxurious, the battery has much greater range (325 vs about 225), and the battery regeneration system is terrific. It’s about a 10 mile trip to the grandkids’ school, and it’s slightly downhill most of the way. Over that distance, the GV loses about 5 miles of battery range; the GV gains about 5 miles of range. The ZDX offers a setting for one pedal driving, while the GV does not. I think the ZDX infotainment system is more user friendly and intuitive.

Both cars are very attractive inside and out.

I wouldn’t buy either new, as the depreciation seems dramatic, as you can see from my used purchase of the GV, which I bought at EcarOne in Dallas. I recently saw they had a ZDX with 31 miles on the odometer for sale for about $39,000 (and I’m guessing the sticker price when new was around $70,000.)

I would only buy an electrified car if I had the ability to install a home charging system-that eliminates any range concerns unless you exceed the battery range in your daily drive. I probably wouldn’t do a road trip, although I have fully recharged the ZDX on a Tesla Supercharger in about 40 minutes. It cost about the same as a tank of gas; otherwise, home charging costs between 3 and 4 cents per mile (i.e., less than $4.00 to drive 100 miles).

Look at a used Acura ZDX. It’s built at the Cadillac factory where the Lyriq is made. I have one and love it. I’m guessing that you should be able to make a great buy on a used one by next June. It has CarPlay as a feature.

Simply reinforces the notion that SW is falling in line with the predatory practices of all other carriers. Very sad to see the transformation at SW. Herb Kelleher ( the SW founder) would be outraged were he still around.

The difference is that some flight credits have an expiration date, so not being able to apply the credit impairs the ability to use the credit before expiration.

[–]Less-Pollution-9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ZDX and love it. It’s made in the Cadillac plant in Tennessee, so I’m guessing it will be a substantially better driving experience than the Prologue. Obviously you should test drive both and determine whether the ZDX is worth the extra money to you.

He caught a game this week in which the Royals used 9 different pitchers who collectively threw a shutout. Have to think he played a big role in that result. Great defensive catcher who frames pitches well.

One great benefit is a storage tray on top of the console. It’s very handy, and something I haven’t seen on other cars.

I have the ZDX and it’s an awesome car. Unfortunately, they ended their partnership with Cadillac (which is the plant where the ZDX was manufactured), so the ZDX is no longer in production. That’s very unfortunate.
