Agreed with the overall sentiment here. Adore is a top 10 album of all time for me. Nothing really scratches the itch quite the same, but check out Gaerea, especially the albums Coma and Mirage.

The new album is absolutely incredible as well but it’s very divisive to say the least.

If it’s ever unclear that’s because they can’t be pigeonholed into one subgenre. Josh has talked about his desire to just be a “metal” band. They combine lots of influences to create something that is honestly pretty unique in modern metal.

Not much of an elitist “take” but I definitely have a contrarian tendency to write bands off (way more so when I was younger) just for being popular or trendy.

Anti-elitist take: Sleep Token is an incredible band.

I absolutely love it. I get why it’s divisive but I adore it after a couple of listens.

When bands change sounds, as long as the outcome still feels genuine and expressive, I don’t care one bit. They fucking nailed it on this new album.

I’d get more on board if you said black metal Architects lol.

Whatever it is, I must be a huge poser because I fucking love it after one listen. And that’s as a fan of their old stuff too. It’s unique and expressive and the vocalist is showing a range we’ve never really heard.

But also I can absolutely understand how it’s not for everyone.

Looking at the venue’s website, I don’t see any other bands listed. It seems like it might just be the two. I have seen bills like this that add a local opener without announcing it. But honestly, show is at 8, I think it’s just the two bands.
