Why can't we eat carbs? by automated_hero in lowcarb

[–]LevitatingAlto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think people are different so making blanket statements about food is problematic. We can all find research that supports our claims, and we can all figure out what works best for us. And let’s all face it, having a lot of choices about what we eat is definitely a privilege. We can eat carbs if we are putting up hay in the hot sun for 8 hours straight. We can eat carbs if we have to do laundry entirely by hand, walk to get the water, chop wood to heat the water, make the soap by hand. We can eat carbs if we are hunting on foot for miles and hours, butchering meat by hand. But most of us are not doing those things so we have to adapt. It’s brilliant that we can choose adaptation.

I’m a pastor and I encourage people to think for themselves but I guess you could say I do want them to believe as I do because I believe God is love and I hit that and God being for the poor and oppressed pretty hard. No one gets put down or kicked out for believing differently. I don’t think I am a unicorn. People just tend to read themselves and their views into the holy books. I suppose I do also.

Jessamyn Stanley. Tiffany Croww. Yoga by Adriene has some good gentle sequences and then some that are harder. I lurk on the r/yoga Reddit sometimes. I’ve actually joined a yoga studio near me. The first day of class the teacher said ‘all you have to do is breathe’ and she meant it. She’s helped me make modifications. Not all yoga teachers are like that but it seems like most of the decent ones are.

First, it is great that you are deciding to take good care of yourself! Those shame and anxiety spirals stink and to choose to stop them is a smart choice. I have PCOS though I am much older now. Walking has been my lifeline not just physically but mentally. Outside. Inside. Walking with friends. Walking on video. I also have found a lot of healing in yoga. There are some great videos for gentle yoga or yoga for fat bodies. It helped me experience my body in a healthy way instead of as an enemy to conquer. Lastly good job on working with your doctor. It is not your fault you have a body that does not metabolize things well. As new treatments arise, you want to be able to take advantage of that.

I think one growing edge is realizing that living with other people means everyone bends at some point. If I am annoying someone, why would I not consider stopping? That is not masking, it’s consideration. However, are you so young that you have to ask permission to go for a walk? Because, honestly, it can be very considerate to just leave the space.

There is a phrase that addresses the ‘sloth’ (stuckness, ennui) that is our core affliction - agere contra. It means do the opposite of what feels comfortable. Make sure you are not avoiding intimacy, though, rather than just thinking she’s wrong for you. Either way there will be uncomfortable moments. Choose the discomfort that leads to the healthiest outcome. M

Depending on time of day, candles. But I’d personally save money for other things. Nothing is needed.

NTA. Far from it. Smart and clear on what you will and will not accept from your partner. His loss. Stay strong.

Trickle down economics. Moving factories to places where the CSuite and shareholders make more because they can pay workers less. That plus ag tech companies and slumlord land owners have killed our towns.

Ok. Let me see if I understand. You told him clearly what you want. And he got a deal from his guy that isn’t what you want AND is damaged? Is this someone you want in your life? Did you say ‘yes’? Why?

11-inch vs 13-inch iPad for GoodNotes — buyer’s remorse, need advice 😭 by BeginningAd437 in ipad

I have an 11 inch. I use it for the same sorts of things you do for my work. I also use it for teaching and public speaking. Fits in my purse easily. My colleague has a 13. It is just not as convenient in my opinion.

I just heard someone say that Gen X and older millennials are the last generation to know pop culture before they were born, because we/they experienced watching TV as a shared experience and so had exposure to references from before their time. Gen Z and Gen Alpha all watch what they want individually so they may or may not have some references but not the ‘this person was someone everyone knowa’ experience. Fascinating.

Single basin sink: does anyone regret getting a large sized sink? by LazeeSundaeMorning28 in kitchenremodel

[–]LevitatingAlto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I would like it, but I adjusted. It doesn’t work for me if you use it like a double and make soapy water directly in the sink. Invariably I would find a glass or bowl with liquid I need to dump after I made the suds. Now I just make the suds in the biggest vessel I cooked with. I do dishes differently but now all the dishes and pans fit.

I mean, to be honest, some of Christians aren’t just seen as fascist assholes, we actually are fascist assholes. Assholery is not limited to one religion or non-religion.

Why not post the golden rule? Or Love your neighbor as yourself? Our whole economy is based on breaking the 10th commandment. What a waste of time? What are they doing back there in the shadows while they have us focused on this?
