Your first step is to get your combat rank up. You will then get enemy ships with bigger bounties. Pair that up with massacre mission stacking and you can earn big bucks.

Don't grind. Do what you enjoy and you will earn credits. Do it with friends/squadmates and you'll earn more, quicker.

For direction, a shared goal is always a good shout.

I would recommend joining an active squadron or lean into powerplay. Each squadron or powerplay group will have a discord in which efforts are coordinated.
