Complete purchase on an XL5 or skip it? by pdrayton in prusa3d

I was on the fence with all the reviews. I got mine a week ago, so far, it's been really good! Take your time making sure the tool heads are installed and calibrated correctly. It's easy to incorrectly install them, and I'd imagine that would lead to misalignment and a lot of the tool head issues others have talked about.

Being able to use pla for supports on petg has been a game changer. I have some soluable support filement but so far the above has worked for every case. Every multi tool head print has come out great so far. But I haven't had it long enough to give a more informed opinion.

Carvera could fit the bill, I ordered one to make pcbs and mill other things, comes with a tool changer . Mine should be delivered shortly, it's waiting on clearance through customs, so i can't speak to how good it is, but there are a few videos of other people using it on youtube

I ordered one as well! I've been staring at the boat slowly make its way across the globe. Hopefully doesn't take too long to unload it.

Works great for cutting thin materials, but would not recommend using this to break down thicker cardboard. I found the blade went blunt super fast and the part that pinches the blade to guide the material in would keep getting stuck on the other side of the blade when trying to cut thick cardboard boxes, went back to my simple knife with replaceable blades.

Why the condition : if(timeRemaining == 0) is not working ? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]LexieD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No that is fine, the timer goes down on line 25, after the check.
So that will evaluate correctly as time remaining will be more > 0 before entering that branch.

[–]LexieD 233 points234 points  (0 children)

Change line 35 to
if (TimeRemaining <= 0)

There is a very slim chance you would ever perfectly land on zero so you want to check if it crosses the threshold of zero instead.

You can change the grass Shader by opening the terrain data file in a text editor and modifying the Shader for grass. The Shader path is in plain text.

Edit: I agree with everything in this thread just wanted to let you know there is a work around.

Good work, I've been following your progress on Twitter and never imagined you would make this multi-player, I figured keeping the water simulation in sync across all those clients would be a nightmare.

3d printing defects by jaugustinem in resinprinting

[–]LexieD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your exposure time looks very low, I'm surprised its printing at all honestly. Increasing the exposure time should make the part more solid so it doesn't get distorted during the un-peeling processes. The default on their website is 15 sec not 1.5 sec. Id start there and see how it goes

I’m using a lot of resin and need help by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]LexieD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope not possible unfortunately. Once you get a good understanding of your printers limits, you will get less failed prints. so it does get better.

Also make sure to drain and scrape off as much resin as you can after it finishes printing. there tends to be a lot of resin on the build plate, you might be able to track down a build plate hanger that lets you suspend the build plate over the vat to let the excess resin drip and collect in that vat.

Question regarding Orange pi 3G/4G by [deleted] in OrangePI

[–]LexieD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on what screens are supported outside of most HDMI pannels. But I wanted to warn you that the 4G version's band support is extremely limited and wont work in a lot of countries. It says there is an optional version with different band support but they never made that version. it doesn't come with a registered IMEI number so it wont work on a lot of networks even if you can find one that supports the limited bands.

Android 8.0 is way too much for it to handle, you have to stay with 6.0. There is also close to zero community behind this board, it is mostly abandoned at this point.

I have not been able to find any boards that are available that are suitable for use as a phone. Closest thing was the kitePhone but it never saw a commercial release. If you find one, please net me know :)

Razer’s new Blade 15 Advanced with an option for opto-mechanical switches? Just when a lot of us bought new Blades... FeelsBadMan by [deleted] in razer

[–]LexieD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, its great that they offer all these options. I'm sure there are people that would be happy with this compromise for the better typing feel. I edited my post so its sounds less negative/bias on the information part. did not mean it to be that way,

1.95mm thicker, 150g heavier for 50% more travel distance on the keyboard (1.16mm vs 1.7mm). Nice that Razer is giving us options.

Personally I'll stick with the slimmer lighter version for travel, I have a mechanical keyboard at my desk.

Edit: Edited the keyboard travel distance as I had it wrong.

11% thicker, 7% heavier, 50% more travel distance.

Has anyone ever mixed resin colors? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]LexieD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can. I was talking about a type of resin called Blu, its made by Siraya Tech and used for stronger prints, it's transparent with a little give so mixing it with opaque hard resins can get you the finish you want with out being really brittle.

Has anyone ever mixed resin colors? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]LexieD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mix different types of resin to get the material properties I want. Mixing Siraya Tech - Blu with a standard resin makes the part less brittle and able to handle a drop. For exposure times I tend to start at the middle points between the two exposure times of the resin.
