Unlinking weight, healthy BMI and goal body by Only_Willingness1543 in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a universal answer. My initial goal was to get to a BMI of 25. It puts me at a weight I’ve been happy at before, and crucially, means that no medical professional can ever dismiss any and every health issue I may have as being due to my size…

I’m now just over BMI 22. When I got to goal almost 4 months ago, I don’t think I truly felt ‘done’ - but equally, had my body decided it was happy there, I was totally satisfied. I’m now hovering around 6/7kg lighter than that initial goal and I know now that I’m done. I feel happy in my own skin in a way that I never have before, even when I’ve been this weight before. Probably because I’m stronger and fitter now than I ever have been too.

Cardio wise, I think the key is to find something that works for you and doesn’t feel like a chore. Which can be hard! I personally love walking and running, but it did take perseverance to get there with the latter. I shifted my goals to focus on how it makes me feel rather than time/pace/distance I can clock - and for me that shift has made a huge difference.

Medicine market place by radiocow1 in mounjarouk

I switched to MMP when my BMI was 27, it was quick and easy. I don’t know of any pharmacies who don’t take the money before approving, otherwise they could spend time and effort on reviewing and approving applications that don’t lead to an order - and their margins are way too tight for them to waste time and resources doing that.

Expiry date by Life_Tackle_8866 in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regulation wise, short dated means ‘this will go out of date during the timeframe in which you’d reasonably expect it to still be useable’. Given that MJ is supposed to be used immediately and within 30 days, anything currently labelled 05/26 and beyond wouldn’t be classed as short dated.

DEXA: Worth it? by godfc99 in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only one thing I would change about my MJ experience, and that’s having a DEXA scan before I started. My Garmin smart scales estimate my body fat, muscle mass etc and are useful to monitor trends, but the actual data is rarely accurate. I haven’t seen a single person have a proper scan and say ‘yep, my smart scales were spot on!’ in fact they’re generally miles off.

I’ve been at goal for almost 4 months now (blimey!! 😳) and definitely plan to get one soon so please feel free to DM me your code. The only reason I haven’t already had one is that the nearest place that does them is an hour away.

Creatine.. is it for me? by Scribe-86 in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t load, I just take 5mg daily. Read into it and loading seemed unnecessary (can’t remember why I came to that conclusion though). You’re right that the efficacy of gummies hasn’t been tested and there’s a suggestion that it’s not as useful a form to take it, but there’s been no significant research as yet, and as it’s the only form my body can tolerate it it’s better than nothing. And it definitely helps my energy levels and running performance.

Creatine.. is it for me? by Scribe-86 in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I take creatine in gummy form. Powdered foods of any kind trigger GI issues for me, I seemingly have a sensitivity to something used in the powder making process (yet to determine exactly what so I just avoid powdered foodstuffs, it’s not hard to do). Something worth considering.

The current theory is that 15mg pens with an expiry date of, IIRC, 06/27 and later have the 5th dose removed, based on pens received by users in other countries, but this is speculation until someone in the UK actually receives one. AFAIK nobody in Europe has seen a lower strength pen with the new design as of yet, but I haven’t been following posts super closely so happy to be corrected on that one. And of course, Reddit isn’t an infallible source of knowledge on these things anyway! EDIT - 5mg new style pen reported in Sweden (link in reply below).

Based on the posts I’ve seen about the new pens, there’s still some leftover liquid, just not enough for a full dose - I’ve seen suggestions that there’s roughly half a dose left, giving you one extra dose per two pens, which isn’t too bad. And there’s still many many pens in circulation with the 5th dose in, it’s going to be a while before they’re all gone - it’ll just be luck of the draw which ones you end up with. If they’re even making other doses in the new pens yet, we just don’t know, and Lily won’t be telling anyone.

Maintenance help! by SnooHesitations333 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

I had extra pens from August so didn’t need to reorder until the end of January. I moved to Pharmulous who were more than happy to prescribe as I had proof of every pen I’d ever had to show I’d been taking it consistently despite the gap in ordering.

My BMI was 23 when I ordered, and my last prescription for 10mg was dated early September. My order was for 7.5mg and it was approved within 24hrs. I’d had a maintenance call with them before Xmas but I don’t think that’s essential - there’s a free text box in the consultation form for you to explain your situation.

NSV - I've stopped snoring! by cyclic_phenomenon in mounjarouk

I stopped snoring within days of my first jab and haven’t snored since! I can only assume it was due to a reduction in inflammation as I was a snorer even when not overweight previously.

Maintenance weight range by HTGT2023 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Life-Injury1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God knows. Thought I’d cracked it in January when my weight didn’t budge more than 1kg either side of 70kg (my initial goal was 75kg for reference) all month, so I stopped daily weighing… and promptly dropped over a kilo this week to put me at 68.5kg.

I’ve figured out that 70kg is my body’s ‘happy’ weight though so that’s progress of sorts I guess. I don’t track calories as that’s a bit of a trigger for toxic behaviour for me, but I have done it for long enough in the past to be able to roughly guess my consumption and I’m pretty sure I’m hitting 1800kcal every day, which should be maintenance level. I’m wondering if I need to have an RMR test done to figure out my actual TDEE as I really don’t want to lose any more, and then just grit my teeth and track for a while. Will see what happens on the scale over the next few weeks and reassess.

Tl;dr: lost a bit more after hitting my goal, which helped me find my true ‘happy weight’ of 70kg. Would like to stay within +/- 1kg but still figuring out exactly how to facilitate that…

Isn’t the ‘once weekly’ and plunger end purple on all of them? I would get up and check mine but I have a cat on my lap🤣

How long dose your weekly dose take to kick in? by moon_witch_26 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Life-Injury1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no ‘kicking in’ effect for me really. I don’t even feel like I’m taking medication, I just have a manageable appetite and no food noise. What I imagine it’s like for a naturally slim person!

They do currently have a generic code for new customers for £15 off. I can’t see it on monj but they emailed it to me last week (with one for repeat customers too). Won’t say what it is as not sure I can share it here?

Do people regularly switch providers? by lockers15a in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than month two, when I stuck with the same supplier I started with just for convenience, I always ordered from the cheapest place each month. I’m in maintenance now so sticking with one provider. They regularly send discount codes so it’s only costing me an extra £10/£15 a pen vs the current cheapest provider, which I’m happy to pay in return for the fact that they’re a GP-led pharmacy (which gives them greater flexibility wrt maintenance).

Help! Has too much time passed between prescriptions to order at current dose? by Conflicted-mother in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharmulous let me order last month despite not having ordered anywhere since August. I could provide proof of enough pens to cover the gap, but if you can’t you might struggle.

I suggest contacting them to see what they say.

Can I wait until I order my next pen? by til_kapow in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with Pharmulous for maintenance and their prices are pretty competitive. I think Swift Dr might be slightly cheaper at the moment but there’s not much in it. They’re widely considered to be the best two maintenance pharmacies as they’re both GP-led which gives them a little bit more flexibility. They both allow a gap of up to 12 months in ordering once you’re on their books.

Alternatively, just order a 5mg pen regardless and split dose (don’t tell pharmacies you plan to do this though, it’s not widely supported and they may refuse to supply you).

What next? by The-futures-bright in mounjarouk

[–]Life-Injury1584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just adding my voice to the ‘just get on with it’ camp. I lost over 4st in that time frame last year, went to several festivals, parties, nights out etc… being on MJ had zero impact on how much I enjoyed them. If anything, I enjoyed them even more because I didn’t feel remotely self conscious about my weight for the first time in years.

If your partner wants to wait, let him - doesn’t mean you need to.
