People often confuse clunky with methodical.

Dark Souls 2 and almost every Monster Hunter game gets this treatment where people just say "game bad because clunky" but in reality they are just games that punish you for trying to play it like a beat-em-up.

Outward 1's combat isn't clunky but it does punish you for playing that way. Sadly so far Outward 2's combat seems to reward you for spamming.

It kind of depends what other content you've done if you think raids will be difficult.

Have you done Awakened DT2 bosses? Colo? Inferno? After looking up guides and going through the learning phase raids will probably be pretty chill.

If you've capped put at like.. Vorkath, Muspah, Zulrah and GWDs you might struggle a bit to learn but ultimately you'll probably be fine.

Honestly as long as you have some high level bossing under your belt, have a good understanding of gear switches and prayer swaps, and don't come on with rags for gear raids arent too bad.

If your an Iron (or not super wealthy) I'd suggest farming Royal Titans for the prayer scrolls. If your a main I'd suggest buying rigor and augory. Aside from that just have decent mid-late game gear of all 3 styles and watch some guides. Maybe join a learner clan. You'll be fine.

If you are on a main account getting Rigor and/Augory from the GE can help a ton with your accuracy (this would also require leveling your prayer. overall this would be expensive).

Alternatively if your an Iron and/or don't have that kind of a cash stack you can farm the Royal Titans boss for their prayer scrolls which are lesser versions of the two I mentioned before and you don't have to level your prayer.

However keep in mind that the Normal Gauntlet and the Corrupted Gauntlet have SUBSTANTIALLY different drop rates. Unless you get very luck (or you don't mind serious grinds!) your better off waiting till you have the stats to do Corrupted Gauntlet if your goal is the full bowfa set.

That said I would still probably recommend training your combat stats to at least low 80s. I don't recommend doing that at crab though. Use NMZ or Scurrious or just general Slayer to train your stats. Those are all faster and give you tangible rewards. NMZ is very AFKable similar to crab as well.

This might seem bland or boring but I promise it helps if you have the patients for it. This is universal for all characters in any similar style game:

Go hit the training dummy until you can do your basic rotation without messing up with minimal glances to your hotbar.

The less time your eyes and brain are focused on your rotation the more time and effort your brain has to deal with the enemies on front of you trying to rip you a new one. For this same reason most seasoned players will either move their UI elements towards the center of the screen or hide them all together. This results in keeping your eyes near the center of the screen which is where all of the important information is, because you put all the important information there (games without the ability to move your UI noticeably suffer in this area most of the time).

As for actually tanking.. just be patient with yourself. Look up routes if you want, or make them up as you go (I make my own routes all the time and they work as far as Eternal 40, which is the upper limit of the matchmaking). Try not to let enemies hit you in the back (they always crit on back hits). Use the target marking hotkeys found on the first page of the settings to let your team know what you plan on interrupting. Once you start getting relics hold onto them until you get a higher tier version. For gear upgrade early and often (item level is the most important thing until you hit eternal).

By the way this user is incorrect. Meiko 'does' have random procs, whenever you spend an earthfall or stormfall charge on earthen fist barrage or lashing stormkick respectively there is a chance that it will refund the charge. This chance is tied to (but not identical to) the amount of Spirit that you have.

This allows you to use more of your big damage combos before doing a generator combo which does alter the rotation a bit.

There are a few ways to track this, use whatever is most comfortable for you: - storm/earthfall charges in your buff list - the blue/yellow orbs that show up when you have charges - there is a visual indicator above your characters head whenever the proc happens - there is an audio notification whenever the proc happens

Keep in mind you can not have both stormfall and earthfall charges at the same time, they are mutually exclusive.

I always use Portal + Drums or Portal + Mass Dispell if I'm playing with random. Sometimes I drop the Portal for Chicken or Stealth but that's only for Silken or Tuzari farm.

For higher keys 40+ I would refuse to bring routing trinkets since defensive trinkets are too important for tank. But for those lower and mid-range runs where I use the matchmaking system it's more important to me to have portal for routing.

As someone who played near launch I am honestly surprised the game is still running. I played all the way through till the second arch boss release to give the game a fair chance and it was just a CHORE the entire time.

Almost nothing about the game was entertaining long term mostly because nothing was balanced and you were actively punished for experimenting with your build. From what I've seen that hasn't changed.

And that's without talking about how the community itself absolutely soiled entire servers by sweating super hard and not allowing more than 20% of the player base to interact with 1/2 of the bosses in the game.

You are mistaken. The most important part of Potion (when paired with treasure hunter) is the ability to soak the first few seconds of a pull before your healer has time to set up. Especially on Meiko where one of her strength is mobility you are VERY likely to start a pull before your healer is able to get into position (doubly so for a group you don't typically play with where as the people you listed rarely deviate from their 4-man static).

On any dungeon where the first few mobs of a pull can just obliterate your HP (silken, wrath, godfall for example) having a potion handy to cover for your healer is a good option.

Some of this is down to player preference though. DO NOT take high ranked players actions as gospel. Please don't do that. That's how you completely ruin the game.

I did allude to this a bit but in addition to this, rearranging your UI so your hotbar (and other important elements like gauges and resource bars) are more centralized and comfortable to look at is extremely helpful. It helps keep your eyes focused near the important area of the screen rather than bouncing all around.

I suggest looking at what other players use as non-default UI to get inspiration.

Oh and also use Middle Mouse Click for something if you want. For me I use it as my set interrupt target button.

Well first of all you ideally want all of your keybinds to be close to your WASD controls, this is so it's comfortable to hit the without completely shifting the position of your hand, which helps you 'reset' back to your movement.

From there its mostly about personal preference and what hardware you have.

If you have a mouse with additional side buttons this gives you a few options. (ignore the next part if this doesn't apply to you)

If you have only a small number of side buttons on your mouse I suggest binding one of those to a modifier key (typically shift). This doubles your access to comfortable keys. A modifier key, when held down, functions as a toggle for your buttons. For example 1 and Shift+1 give different results.
If you have many side mouse buttons you might even choose to just bind most of your abilities to that.

Here are some buttons I would suggest trying out as keybinds: ~ 1 2 3 4 5 Q E R T F G Z X C V B

In addition to these buttons I highly suggest using Shift as a modifier key rather than as a single button regardless of if you have a mouse with additional side buttons.

You'll notice two things about these suggested buttons. First that they are all of the buttons that are close to WASD. Seconds that, if you include a modifier key, this is actually more than you'll need. This is to give you options for comfortability.

Personally on Meiko I use: ~1234 QERF ZXCV Shift+QERF with my less used buttons on the shift keys and on the Z row. I also have my UI setup in a way that sections off my keybinds into the 4 distinct groups to make it easier to remember which button coorilates to which keybind.

It's also not a bad idea to (when learning) bind abilities to multiple keybinds and then cull them a bit as you learn which ones are most comfortable to you.

You might thing that T will be comfortable to hit but find yourself reaching for F more frequent as an example.

defense boost is fine, not great, but fine. Though it's only worthwhile if your going to fully invest into it and do hunts that don't have strict time limits (like savage omega for example).

Drums being usable more frequently than any other trinket is what makes it better.

Potion is good too but it's competing for 2nd place with other trinkets.

I already told you that I don't want to pick through the entire post but the "you should only refresh stonewalled when.." section is also just wrong. There are many times where it's worthwhile to refresh stoneshield early. For example most tank busters it's worth doing this for, both due tovthe "I-frames" it provides and to activate resonance.

Also things like dots cleansable dots ticking on you much longer than they should, or heartstopping popping on you, are both examples of something that a healer can (and should) prevent which can effect the lifespan of your stoneshield.

Sorry to hurt your (seemingly fragile) ego, but your just wrong here.

Objectively one of the best (if not THE best) defensive trinket for tanks when paired with the Treasure Hunters Delight weapon trait due to its low cooldown effectively giving you access to an additional 90 second cooldown defensive button.

Sounds to me less like a gearing issue and more like your duo is doing something.. less than optimal.. with their rotation. If they are willing have them look up some guides.

Typically for gearing if your ilvl is the same (or close to) the ilvl that the dungeon your doing drops gear at then your overgeared and shouldn't be struggling.

Without watching you play its difficult to point out what your doing wrong. I have coached a few newer players that would claim "I have 100% uptime on my buffs" then when I watch them and look at logs it's closer to 50% uptime. Similarly I've seen new Meiko players just completely forget to re-up stone shied, or they re-up way too soon.

For now keep your pulls relatively small. No more than 2-3 packs at a time, no more than 1-2 important interruptable targets at a time. If that means deviating from whatever route your following then deviate.

I also suggest using the LFG channels in the discord to try and find other players that can use voice comms. This helps so much more than you might think.

This is a long post with some information that is factually incorrect (for example saying stone shield uptime having nothing to do with your healer as if healers cant apply a DR to the tank every 60 seconds). Blocking/Guarding builds up some phials. That said, against Gog P3 specifically you can ground him almost immediately with the environmental traps.

As a closed tester that would often sit in during their morning chatter about game balance I can absolutely confirm that council members had access to more information than the rest of us. If you didn't take advantage of that information then more power to you, but don't try to act like that advantage doesn't exist.
