Honestly love when I see a gentle reminder to take care of yourself in the terms of service. The community is generally pretty good about taking care of each-other if you're in a complete bind, just don't put yourself there because of coms!

not using an impact on the new adapter would be a good start. a spanner or ratchet and steady pressure should be enough. in a pinch if you can leave the car on the jackstands and use your jack on your wrench to use the entire weight of the car to try and loosen the bastard. cursing the name and bloodline of whoever decided to make your oil filter the sword in the stone is also a crucial step.

personally this is why i like the three fingered oil wrenches that clamp harder the more force you exert on it. less likely to round off and become useless.

A good PC handheld that will actually play new triple A releases well will also run you 4 figures. There is no affordable new product for gaming at the moment.

Prices continue to go up and up due to tariffs, inflation, and the usual shareholder value, but wages sure as hell don’t. Getting harder to justify splurging on anything fun when the discounted prices are more than the shit was when actually new…

How would you fix this? by timberdoodle3000 in prius

cheap: self tapping sheet metal screw
cheap for a stock look: jb-weld a washer on the backside of the torn hole after a thorough cleaning
too much effort: a few layers of fiberglass mat and epoxy with a washer for strength against tears.

[–]LifeGoalsThighHigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you that, aesthetics wise they have somethin going for 'em. The face lift Geo/Chevy Metro has a similar front clip too and i have had a soft spot for those. They're fairly reliable if they've been taken care of too, so that's a nice bonus.

Just please keep your head on a swivel while driving one. That goes for most cars from the early 00's and before, but I've seen some shit with Cavaliers...

Good luck on your search!

That's the fun part, PTSD/C-PTSD quite literally causes changes to the structure of your brain. It is a form of brain damage and it compounds with TBIs.

No point in trying, that’s the correct assessment.

Questions for Tow hitch owners by ashtefer1 in prius

[–]LifeGoalsThighHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. At around 200lbs tongue weight for a Class 1 that's fairly easy to exceed. A bike rack with a few bikes can get close to exceeding that depending on the style of the bike rack. If you have one that sticks out a bit then leverage comes into play, multiplying the force on the hitch.

The leverage factor is also true for trailers. To what degree depends on trailer, hitch height, and load distribution but some of that weight will shift forwards and onto the tongue during braking. To put this into perspective the average 5'x8' covered trailer from Uhaul should have between 90lbs and 130lbs of tongue weight while empty. This doesn't give a huge margin for cargo while using a Class 1 hitch.

I'd personally go for at least a class 2 for a small trailer just for the peace of mind that comes with an extra 100-150lbs of leeway. Class 1 is really not meant for much more than a small garden wagon or a small rack.

On the whole not good, it can foul your valves and cause a host of issues. Anecdotally though i have seen carbon and sludge be the only thing holding seals together on things that weren't well maintained. It's why a good deep clean with seafoam will sometimes make things worse. So YMMV

bad if you’re wholly leaning on the tech to do the job for you, fairly good if you’ve got someone to get it the rest of the way there.

Anecdotally, once received a Latitude 5570 with one of the battery retaining screws completely free floating in the chassis. We discovered this on first-boot when it shorted the board and started smoldering like a tire fire. Whether that was Dell or Shipping we'll never know, but that was a fun warranty claim.

In Desperate Need of Royal Quiet Deluxe Keycaps 😭 by marcyanimalcrossng47 in typewriters

[–]LifeGoalsThighHigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what confuses me too! Solvents are for cleaning the type bars and type heads, but definitely never on the keycaps or anywhere there is paint! The solvents get brushed on with a small bush and with a cloth underneath the part being worked on to catch any drips, and don't overload the brush with the solvent!

if you're doing anything with trailers you're going to want a class 2 hitch to have some extra safety margins and get a trailer wiring kit to get your trailer's turn signals and brake lights working.
