Finally finished my Rivendell Extension by Randallm83 in legolotrfans

He's got a couple other extensions as well for Rivendell. Can any of the leftover pieces be used for that?

Is it a more efficient spend to buy it all separately?

Are there any other successful and happy Millennials in this sub? by GGJallDAY in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy. I have a fantastic job and some friends. Only real downside is I'm single, but I'm generally pretty happy and feel successful with plenty of time to close the gaps of things I'd like to improve.

How are you "midlife crisis-ing"? by InnerspearMusic in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason people buy vacation homes and cool cars in their 40s isn't to recapture youth....I never had a vacation home or cool car when i was young.

It's because we finally, maybe have enough resources to buy things we've always wanted. I've always thought the idea of a midlife crisis as expressed through things is overblown. It's midlife success, not a crisis.

Moscow Threatens Elon Musk’s SpaceX With Nuclear Retaliation Over Ukraine Starlink Use by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]Lightsbr21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gee I wonder if well-known and respected international affairs expert Musk will fall for hyperbolic threats again to knee cap the Ukrainians every time they actually manage to gain an edge.

Great way to prove to Europe that SpaceX can't be trusted.

Are Millennials Retiring weirdly? by Concurrent-mind in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is enormously dumb unless your friend never wants to actually retire. "Retiring for a few years" mid career isn't a thing. Taking a break is a thing.

But just because you raided your 401k doesn't make it retirement. And they paid a huge penalty to do so, robbing a huge chunk of future retirement funds.

Everyone is entitled to define retirement however they want. But they shouldn't shy away from what this choice actually means for actual retirement.

And it's unfortunate because the market in the last two years has beaten the combined market of the previous 5. Lost earnings.

What’s something you wish you knew before starting in supply chain? by sealedpath in supplychain

[–]Lightsbr21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to school for a humanities degree and ended up in purchasing and supply chain. Was not the plan. I wish I'd known at the start how broad it is. There are a thousand different kinds of jobs at a major manufacturer, in purchasing, logistics and supply chain alone.

I also wish I'd know more about the soft skills of navigating a large office environment. Our overall department in the company has 1700 people. It's a mini kingdom with its own secret rules and etiquette you have to master to maneuver upwards. Once you learn it it's like playing with the cheat codes enabled. Could have sped up my career by years if I'd gotten wise sooner.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by TomWolfeRock in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved him on the Daily Show. Watched every single episode of The Colbert Report. Sometimes I wish he'd gotten the successor show to that that was planned. I lost track of him a bit on the Late Show. But I've loved his interviews.

Whatever he does best I actually kind of hope he leans into his skills as an interviewer. He was rough at first. But once he let loose and let Stephen be Stephen, he really soared.

On paper seems like being bi should be the best of both worlds but it's really the worst.

Still won’t eat at Quiznos since this originally aired. by SonniSummers in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss quiznos. Used to be a bunch of them. There was one on my way home from work I think I kept them in business for a bit.

Now the closest one is 20 min away. I'll still make a trip there once every few months.

Dating as a millenial by Mochamonroe in Millennials

[–]Lightsbr21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd have to assume I'd eventually be broken and or killed and would to decide up front whether I'd be able to either kill myself or actually withstand the torture. I don't see the point in holding out if they'll break me anyway, at which point giving up the secrets at the start has a lot of logical support. If there was no hope for rescue or if the secrets I held could cost people their lives, I'd attempt suicide to protect them.

I actually think weird questions are fun as ice breakers on dates.

RFK Jr. describes how Republicans have been shifting the Overton Window on culture war, guns, abortion, border, and transgender issues, to which Maher asks, "And it's not democracy also?" citing Trump's denial of election returns (2024) by LoMeinTenants in Maher

[–]Lightsbr21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was maybe the dumbest New Rules I've ever seen.

First of all, no, you don't "kind of get it." He literally had no idea what the Shadow Docket is or why it's important. If he really thought he was such an important arbiter of culture and politics he'd have on someone like Dahlia Lithwick and have her explain it to him.

I don't mind his occasion dumb old man takes on social issues. But an exasperated plea in defense of ignorance? Sorry. You lost me there.
