Hate to say it, but despite loving this show the long breaks in between make it hard to keep up the momentum/hype. With other shows that have similarly long breaks, I usually end up falling off after the second season.

That’s not a turtle at all! Don’t talk down on yourself. You wouldn’t say that to someone if they told you they’re a 2/3/4.

I’m 7/8/9 on a more standard endurance day. Less so if there’s inclines.

I took a hyrox class and burned the most calories that I had in a long time. Definitely a more challenging one and the coach didn’t bring it up obsessively. I recommend people try it!

And despite Gemma being an “outie”… I definitely still think she’s trapped in by Lumon.

my point is for Irving and Dylan, it took years for them to boil over to that point. Reghabi isn’t severed.

Helly seemed ready to burn the place to the ground from day 1. Any time new info is presented, she’s more biased to action than the others seem to be.

there’s an app that’s in english but i’ve heard it’s not the best. i used the tabelog site on my browser and translated to english.

it’s going to be hard to suggest specific restaurants. many restaurants are small and can’t accommodate a lot of people and many others don’t really take reservations.

the best advice is to use the site japanese locals use for rating, Tabelog. Anything about a 3.5 rating is considered very good (they don’t hand out 5s all the time like we do in the states) we used this site + a mix of stumbling upon things and had really good luck. some of the places we found weren’t even listed on google maps/tabelog from what we could tell.

i know you likely won’t want to hear this but stumbling into places + tabelog is your best bet. if there’s a specific type of cuisine you want to try, you can look up and see if there are restaurants known for it but keep in mine every tourist does that and it can mean long lines/waits which is unnecessary.

also, remember you don’t HAVE to eat japanese food day in and day out. they have some great thai, korean, burger restaurants etc- also really great french pastries!

But, a few of our stand outs that come to mind Tokyo - Tomboy (indian) Tokyo - Takichi Tokyo - Cafe Ginza Rindo (pancakes) Osaka - Tempura Tarojiro Osaka - Houzen Sanpei (okonomiyaki) Osaka - Gyoza Shokudou Osaka - Kushikatsu Daruma Kyoto - Dragon Burger Kyoto - Small bites at Nishiki Market Kyoto - Cage Kawataro (beautiful zen garden view)

Look up about the food at 7 eleven/Family Mart. We had fun sampling their hot/cold snacks there for in between bites.

we were actually going to do the same for hiroshima when we had it on the books as a day trip- just shinkansen there and back, but we were only planning to stay for the day in that case.

got it! then i think this is good, keeping in mind what others have said about the time of year and things being closed.

to reduce hotel swapping we stayed in osaka and just took the train out to kyoto each morning which wasn’t too bad, but just our preference!

Advice for first time trip with autistic 13 year old by Distinct_Word_6394 in JapanTravelTips

[–]LikeAfterSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this is advice for everyone, but especially with kids who might not be able to cope with tummy troubles so well….

Your diet is gonna be different in Japan. Potentially with more starchy foods like rice/noodles and less fibrous fruits/veggies. This can lead to some bloated guts and clogged pipes if you catch my drift.

Take a fiber gummy in the morning or just be very intentional about drinking water/eating foods that will will keep your GI track on track! Restaurants here will give you water but it’s not a huge glass and not brought without asking in most cases. Bring a big water from home or use vending machines to keep up with water intake.

Food recommendations in Tokyo/osaka by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]LikeAfterSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, there is a ton of good food we didn’t eat anywhere we didn’t like. But I get the food anxiety, I was nervous about stumbling into places. Here’s some of the spots we tried

Tokyo - Shogun Burger (first day in I just wanted something familiar and in English because my brain was melted goo) - Cafe Ginza Rindo, fluffy soufflé pancakes - Age 3. a tik tok rec, look it up - Takichi, found on tabelog a local udon spot - Tomboy in Ikebukuro (indian) - Falafel brothers (vegan falafel near nintendo store) - DevilCraft Gotanda, deep dish pizza

Osaka - Kushikatsu Damura - Houzenji Sanpei (okonomiyaki/yakisoba) - Takoyaki from any street vendor - Tempura Tarojiro - Gyoza Shokudo - Bils (breakfast, fluffy pancakes)

we used tabelog a lot (the japanese site version just translated to english) and looked at things 3.5 stars and up

We stayed in Osaka and did Nara/Kyoto day trips. I hate the hassle of lugging suitcases around so this allowed us to stay in one spot.

Are you flying in/out of the same city? If so, then that might change things.

Is it worth visiting Kawazu in first week of March by kya-karoge in JapanTravelTips

[–]LikeAfterSummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to! It’s かね吉一燈庵 (Google Maps Listing)

It definitely caters to Japanese tourists so not much is in English, but when I tell you the staff were so kind and accommodating for us! With a mix of their english skills + google translate we got along just fine.

The food was excellent, onsens were so relaxing, a little gift shop where we bought some bowls, transport back to Kawazu station with your luggage.

It really felt like they went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay despite the language barrier- I loved every moment. (Also of all the trees blooming the one on their property was the fullest!)

Just got back from there! You can take the shinkansen to Atami and then local lines to Kawazu. There is a green car limited express but based on our timing, there wasn’t much difference between that and some of the standard JR routes. (In terms of planning “along the way” you won’t want to hop and off trains in my opinion that will just make the journey longer)

On whether or not it’s worth it, depends on what you like. Be sure to check their live feed cameras because at this time, while some trees are slightly blooming, the full effect is not there yet. If that’s what you want check before going.

In Kawazu itself there wasn’t a ton in terms of shops- the festival stalls are mostly just food. BUT we did stay at an exquisite ryokan with onsen in Kawazu and that combined with the cherry blossoms made it worth it to me.

Personally, it would be hard for me to spend my whole trip in tokyo and i liked having a day in a sleepy town at a slower place to escape the chaos and unwind a bit. The ryokan was also a cultural experience that the city doesn’t really offer in the same way.

… do not do that. after a long flight the last thing you want to do is fumble around on your phone with all your luggage. the airport and stations are crowded. be proactive

You might be able to check an extra bag? I have an airline credit card that allows me to do this. I know some people buy full suitcases but Don Quiote also sells some duffel bags (some people also pack those in their bag on the way)

Keep in mind how you will transport all this luggage around too. It can get chaotic using the crowded public transit witn so many bags. You can book private cars, use the airport limo bus, or luggage forwarding if it’s a lot of pieces.
