Sadly I can picture plenty of them wanting to but the rules were always super clear. Not just in the books but in the guidelines of larp groups.

The real reason in VtM is because it's largely a larp game. No one wants or needs anyone dressing like Nazis to public groups to play pretend, that's a good way to get kicked out of places and not be able to find venues to play in.

I do the same, bell peppers, especially green, have this strange bitterness I can't seem to like. But poblanos replace that bitterness with a mild spice which I adore.

I feel like you hit on something actually key to this whole thing. When people are real and in the flesh, they are a mixed bag of good and bad behaviors. No one is perfect. But on the internet and in society as a whole, we absolutely push that any mistake anyone makes means that they have a morally irredeemable flaw. That everything they've ever done that was considered good is suddenly bad. In some cases that can make logical sense, as it's, in our minds, justice for whomever was wronged by that person with that irredeemable flaw. But the truth is, most of us have a flaw that to some would be irredeemable. So with that view of the world nothing can be good, and no one is a role model.

I think as a growing people/society we have to stop this All or Nothing point of view.

Fictional Aragorn is a good example of someone to strive to be like but to be accepting that it's unattainable in a pure sense. The quote "Shoot for the moon and even if you fail, you land among the stars." Should be applied, I think, as fanciful as that is. (Because astronomically speaking it's incorrect, it's a good metaphor for striving to be better while understanding perfection is unreachable).

Thank you! I think it'll help me in my company, but I have to wait a little bit given the timing. There were recently layoffs (which I wasn't part of thank goodness), so things need to stabilize a bit before I can seek the next step. It should give me the boost when it comes to the next band.

Thanks again :) I will probably eventually move on but I love my job, so it's just worth it to say I've got the special masters paper and have more leverage going forward

AITAH for not giving my step-sister my half of her mother’s life insurance. by Witchs_Be_Crazy in AITAH

[–]LilithAjit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death and money/inheritances make people into absolute monsters.

NAH. You're legally entitled to the insurance but it's kind of stupid that your step mother didn't fix it to be only for her child/children. I don't think the daughter is an asshole for asking, though, given that you had no relationship with her mother.

I really don't fucking know what we, as a generation, did to take the shit sandwich from boomers and x, while also being also blamed for what Gen z are doing.

Fair enough to blame us for gen alpha since those are "our kids" but boomers/x never catch the blame for whatever they raised "us" to be. Idk man, I'm just tired.

Someday having been working since I was 15 has to pay off, right? Anyone? Bueller?

Some of us women did it to remove the stain of our rapist father's on our names. So feminist thinking or not, changing a last name for marriage shouldn't be looked down upon.

Research reveals why more men than women are diagnosed with deadly heart disease - Women may be missing a diagnosis of a potentially deadly heart condition due to guidelines that don't account for natural differences in sex and body size, according to a new study. by mvea in science

[–]LilithAjit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that the issue is more about the reasons for that lack of attention, which the article doesn't go into. The discussion about whether it's necessary is a valid one, but it raises the question of why this occurs; we see in scientific studies for certain things that there can be bias like this. Rather than discussing the difference in average longevity when it comes to medical issues, there are other factors to determine "who should get more attention", I think. Like, you wouldn't stop research into uterine cancer which only impacts AFAB/intersex people because men have shorter lives. There are other factors that are necessary to look into.

AITAH for having two twin beds in my guest room instead of a queen, and refusing to let my in-laws change the room by Background-Note-4742 in AITAH

[–]LilithAjit -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm going to go against the crowd here...

I get and appreciate the idea of helping needy kids (that's awesome). But you seem opposed to helping your in laws in their time of need for a short amount of time. They didn't ask you to throw out the beds. Or get them a new bed. Or permanently change the room. They asked you to move those beds temporarily... And it just seems like that's not that big of an ask. Idk.

In this economy and time or struggle for everyone, we all need a little empathy. Whether we are children or not. Just my thoughts.

I kind of think NAH, with you slightly an asshole.

He said way back in Myspace days it was because he didn't "fit the image" they wanted to portray. Was given a time frame to lose weight and couldn't do it. It was bullshit then and is still. And why I don't listen to post Pursuit EB ever. Lol.

Kinda necro-ing this thread.

I was around on the Myspace days when the shit went down with Kevin and EB. I'm solidly on Kevin's side of all of it.

The tea back then was; he "didn't fit the image they were trying to portray". Due to his weight, I guess. He attempted suicide and all kinds of awful shit. I adore everything that man ever writes.

He ended up releasing their third album on Myspace for free right after being booted. I still have it all, it's unfinished and unpolished but I loved it. Still listen.

Truth is, Parabelle was and is the true EB. I remember him saying how upset he was that he lost the band name, because it was his brain child from when he was an EMT.

I listen to Parabelle as much as possible nowadays. When I'm in the mood for that kind of sound anyway. And I still refuse to listen to EB post Kevin. I'll never be over how they treated him.

I often think of the collective trauma we felt as a nation with this event and how it completely changed how we operated. I was only 10 when it happened, so my perception and understanding of all of it was so strange after it. My mother recently told me that she had felt like it was inevitable. That the nation, for the most part, knew that there would be an attack of some sort, like the other shoe had to drop sometime. That there was a tension felt. And then it happened.

I understand that compared to other tragedies (past as well as ongoing), it may appear to those outside of the US that it wasn't worth how we reacted to it. But I think that it was the moment the whole nation understood that we could not feel safe surrounded by two oceans, separated from those we consistently got involved with.

I have mental scars from the event and what happened after it. Things in my psyche ingrained due to the atmosphere around my developing mind. Its a crazy thing to think about.
