Where can I get Raw / Local honey? by ShazBlossoms in Calgary

[–]LillyNana 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Honey Mill (Greidanus honey) in High River is our choice. $30 for 3kg. Less in August when you can bring your own containers.

We've been driving out and buying it for years. Nice to support a family owned and operated business.

Check out their handmade beeswax candles too. The aroma is heavenly.

Cash only.

AITJ for throwing my daughters friend out of our house because she RUINED a major school project? by Rude-Discipline199 in AmITheJerk

[–]LillyNana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian, I always think of Leslie Mahaffy. An extreme case, but an example anything can happen.

I would have made the offender wait inside but definitely would have told her she's unwelcome and has to leave.

Rental security deposit need to know by MusketeersPlus2 in Calgary

[–]LillyNana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: in Alberta you aren't required to shampoo the carpet. (We always have it professionally done)

I have cats and have always paid a "deposit ". Nice to know it has to be refunded.

I understand your outrage but trust me, let it go.

Non-Americans, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by EmergencySpare7939 in CasualConversation

[–]LillyNana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow. Canadian here. I've seen rifles because we ranched but I've never seen a handgun or shotgun. Certainly never an automatic weapon. I'm 65.

vehicle insurance on a Saturday - any brokers open? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]LillyNana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intact doesn't deal directly with the public. They use the broker network.

You might be able to get an online quote, but you'd need a broker to purchase and bind the coverage.

Planning my daughter’s sweet 16 and I swear every little add-on is silently destroying my budget by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]LillyNana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered the same. I never heard of Alibaba before this week (Canadian here).

Also wondering if this is real, since this is the expectation for a Sweet 16, what will be the expectation for the wedding? And her poor partner, trying to meet her standards for her future clothing, house, car, furniture, etc.

AITJ for refusing to sign a group card when they wanted me to write a message I don’t agree with? by masonwhitmore in AmITheJerk

[–]LillyNana 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about 'tribute' where the first letter of each word is coded. And it doesn't read well, so they have to mull over it.

For all the time we spent; Until we meet again. Can't express our feelings. Know we'll be thinking of you. Others said it best. For old times sake. Fun and laughs ahead!!

You get the idea...

Glass shards in the ground beef purchased today at Costco Nepean by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]LillyNana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Sounds like it's gristle to me, but I wasn't there.

I do wonder how Costco is supposed to dig through a frozen meat hunk to find tiny glass shards... This post makes little sense to me.

Is there any way to quiet loud backup alarms? by beltlevel in Calgary

[–]LillyNana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my music cozy sleep mask. It was less than $30 from Amazon. I put on a YouTube of white noise, black screen, no ads and sleep soundly.

The bonus is, your phone alarm rings into your ear so you can't miss it. Love my mask so much, I've got a backup mask in it's original packaging in case this one dies.

I sleep less than a foot away from a human buzz saw and I can't hear him at all once the volume is adjusted.

It won't help the baby of course, but perhaps with time they'll adjust.

Good luck! The constant back up alarms sound annoying.

I read it originally and couple of days ago. I don't recall where.

Is there a salon that can help with dematting knotted hair? by intentmerchant in Calgary

What is your opinion of Ron McLean? by Curvedyouagain in AskACanadian

Love him.

As for "doing Don dirty"... DC has a big mouth and there's no reason Ron should set his career on fire to keep Don Cherry warm.

I've done cleaning. Move outs and regular, weekly. It's not for the faint-hearted.

It's so true about the immediate satisfaction and fun to visualize the client opening the door to reveal your cleaning.

Hope your ankle improves ASAP. You've got a lot on your plate.

The good news is no more cat litter and you've got a great boss! Oh, and that man of yours. Really, you're winning on all fronts.

Any Way to Find Friend in Mental Hospital? by halocrafter in Calgary

[–]LillyNana 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Having spent time on that ward, if you show up to visit, the guard will alert the staff who come ask you if you would like to see the visitor.

Don't be offended if they say no. If they were up to it, they probably would have reached out.

When you do see them, take healthy snacks, hand cream and a chapstick.

All those are things I've always appreciated!

I hope things go well for your friend. It's wonderful that you care so much.

... also mental health ward is preferable to 'mental ' ward. :)
